Visibility into a controller's list of peer controllers and Cyberstations following a teach

Issue How to have visibility into what a controller sees in its list of peer controllers and Cyberstations following a tech. Product Line Andover Continuum Environment All CX controllers Cause Documentation Resolution If controller is 9900 you can perform a "dump controller" from Hyper Terminal and see the list of peer controllers and CyberStations the controller has been taught. For Second Generation Continuum controllers that do not have a terminal interface you can put a program in the controller to get information about the list. (You can use the program in the 9900 as well.) Click HERE to see a sample PE program. IMPORTANT UPDATE: If the site has more than just a few (3-5) controllers comment out the line in the program that gets the controller names. Also, comment out the line that gets the security flag if there are first generation (9900, 9640) controllers involved.

What is the format of the 26 bit Wiegand standard format?

Issue How are the bits allocated in a 26bit Wiegand card format? Environment Access control peripherals data format Cause Although this is an openly published data format, sometimes the actual data bit format is required. Resolution The Wiegand 26 bit format consists of 24 bits of data and 2 Parity bits (Odd and Even) The 24 data bits are split between 8 bits for the Site code and 16 bits for the card number. Giving a card number range of 1 to 65535, and a site code range of 1 to 255. A spreadsheet defining the format can be downloaded here.

SmartStruxure Lite MPM BACnet client capabilities

Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support Services for assistance. Issue A third party BACnet system is able to host  values from a SmartStruxure Lite MPM but an MPM does not seem able to host values from another BACnet system or device. Environment BACnet MPM-VA MPM-UN MPM-GW Cause SmartStruxure Lite Managers have full BACnet server capabilities, however BACnet client functionality is not native to the MPM and is currently only available through Lua programming. Resolution Integrating SmartStruxure Lite™ Managers with third-party BACnet server devices requires a BACnet client script. A sample script (download here) can be used to perform read and write operations to other devices via BACnet IP, however, a few tips and limitations must be taken into consideration before deployment on site. NOTE1: The delay at the beginning of the script (if scl.sysclock() > 90 then) must not be removed or modified. Otherwise, the MPM will keep rebooting endlessly and would require restoring its factory defaults before gaining access to Building Expert again. NOTE2 : The more points used in the script, The higher the MPMs CPU% Usage will be and the less responsive the MPM will be. Therefore, it is recommended to only read/write the necessary points and not all the points on the third party devices. Also, if some points are more important that others, the polling time can be increased to 60 seconds for example.   NOTE3: The more objects you have on the MPM, the less room you have for BACnet points. PGs, Trends and Events consume a substantial amount of CPU Usage so it is important to keep an eye on it as you add more points in the script.   NOTE4 : Run the script every 5 seconds or more if possible   Limitations: - Reading/Writing to Multi State Values (MSV) is not supported

A method to create many objects with alarm links using CSV import files.

Issue A method to create many objects with alarm links using CSV import files. Environment Continuum Cyberstation Cause A requirement was presented where many Inputs and Numerics needed to be created with attached alarm links. A quick method to create these similar objects was investigated. Resolution The CSV file was broken down into the minimum attributes that were required to create a numeric with an active alarm link. Attached is a copy of the CSV file that was used and a screencap showing the results. Follow the steps below to take the Workstation offline, import the CSV file, then send the changes to the controller. 0. Set the Workstation to offline. 1. Import the CSV file "alarmlinkexp" into the acx1 controller by right clicking on the controller and selecting "import into...". Note the success result in the distribution window. 2. set the Workstation to online. Refresh the continuumexplorer view, right-click on the new point and select "send to controller". Note in the distribution window that this succeeded without any errors. 3. The value of the object is set to "NotSet", set this to off, apply, then set to "On". 4. Note that the alarm is triggered and comes in to the alarm bar.   CSV Import file structure InfinityNumeric Name,Alias,DeviceId,Format,AlarmLink1,AlarmEnable test2,test2,net1\acx1,###$,Root\testAlarmEnroll,1

Simple Modbus Lua Script

Issue Simple Modbus Lua Script Product Line EcoStruxure Building Expert Environment Lua Programming Cause Simple script to test Modbus function Resolution In each of the samples, the following needs to be observed: The Modbus port is closed and opened with the port settings. The samples can be combined but the port is only set once. The settings for the Modbus RS485 port requires an address, in this instance 99 is used. This must be different from the slaves. The nnn.MOD1 must be left unchecked so that it is not enabled. This will allow the Lua script ModbusB to work. For added functionality the "Print" command is used. The "print" command provides added functionality indicating a successful read / write in the output window. If the result = 0 then the read / write is successful. Anything else is an error code. Contact Product Support. The value = is the value that is either read in or written dependant on the function used. The following samples provide simple read / write functions.: Coil Registers Digital Input Registers Holding Registers Input Registers 32bit Floating Point

A space temperature sensor is not reading correctly on a MicroSmart controller (Model # MSC-P-1504). What are the values for the SCALE, OFSET, and CVTYP elements?

Issue A space temperature sensor is not reading correctly on a MicroSmart controller (Model # MSC-P-1504).  The type of sensor is not known due to its remote location.  What are the possible values for the SCALE, OFSET, and CVTYP elements? Environment MicroSmart MSC-P-1500 line of controllers Cause Trying to determine the type of sensor installed so a spare sensor can be brought for the service call. Resolution The different combinations of SCALE, OFSET, and CVTYP can narrow down the type of sensor installed (i.e. RTD, voltage, or current).  The exact model cannot be identified remotely.  See page Table 6 on page 17 of the Installation Guide for this controller family.
