Difference between DPU EPROM rev 2.21 and 2.22

Issue What are the differences between DPU EPROM rev 2.21 and 2.22? Environment DPU EPROM Cause On the 2.22 rev, one problem was corrected and an enhancement included. Resolution The problem was when using first key auto-unlock, the software would show the door as unlocked, when the first valid read had not yet unlocked it. It now remains in the secure mode in software until the first valid read. The enhancement is that when a DPU is operating on back up battery power, the power led will now flicker to indicate the change from commercial power.

Multi Purpose Manager Daylight Savings Time for Australia

Issue Daylight savings do not take effect when it starts on 4th October Environment Multi Purpose Manager 2.15 and 2.16.    Cause Australia starts DST in October and ends in April of the following year. In North America and Europe, DST starts In March and ends in October or November in the same year. The built in DST feature in the MPM assumes that the "DST_Start_month" must be before the "DST_End_Month".  This issue will also applies to countries where the start of DST is towards the end of the year and DST ends the following year.  Resolution This issue has been reported to R&D. The following workaround can be used before this issue is fixed in a future MPM firmware.  1. Configure DST in the MPM to start in April and set DST to end in October. 2. Set the DST offset to -1 hour using the following Lua script in the MPM (add a Lua object and enter the following code)         if not init then            ME.CFG1_Time_Dst_Offset.value = -3600            init = 1         end     if not init then ME.CFG1_Time_Dst_Offset.value = -3600 init = 1 end

What effects do processor loading have on controller communications and operation?

Issue What effects do processor loading have on controller communications and operation? Environment I/NET controllers Cause Knowing the potential consequences of overloading the processor will help with network design and controller selection. Resolution If the processor hits 100% during the time that controller receives the token on the LAN, the controller will ignore the LAN in favor of continued operation of the equipment connected to it. If the processor gets overloaded with too many tasks to perform at once, it will buffer the commands to executed. Therefore, the worst that should happen is that an event or calculation will be performed late or delayed but everything should still happen in the intended sequence order.

Troubleshooting analog inputs on I/NET controllers

Issue An analog input reads the wrong value. Is it the controller or the sensor? Product Line TAC INET Environment Analog inputs on I/NET controllers Cause Determining where the problem originates - a failed sensor or a bad input - will help arrive at a solution faster. Resolution Open the conversion coefficient calculator Set the high and low values for counts and units to configure the input to show raw voltage input.  Let it enter that result into an open entry in the CC table. On a 7716/7718/7728 or 7756 upper board: Enter 0 for counts low and 4095 for counts high, 0 for units low and 5 for units high On the lower board of the 7756: Enter 0 for counts low and 65535 for counts high, 0 for units low and 10 for units high.  On an MR-88 or 632: Enter 0 for counts low and 255 for counts high On an MR-55 or an ASC: Enter 0 for counts low and 255 for counts high, units low 1.5 and units high 4. If this is a DPU, DIO or DIU, this does not apply to this situation. Select that conversion coefficient for the input in question and make sure there is no look up table for it. The input will now show the measured voltage for that input. Read that voltage on the actual input with a meter and compare to the reading on the screen, viewcon or HHC. If the readings match, the problem is the sensor, your conversion coefficient, or your look up table. If not, the problem is in the controller. Refer to other articles about possible configuration problems on inputs.

What considerations should be given to I/NET SEVEN and ID Works during the setup procedures?

Issue What considerations should be given to I/NET SEVEN and ID Works during the setup procedures? Environment I/NET Seven DataCard ID Works Cause Some best practices when considering implementing DataCard ID Works during setup with I/NET Seven.  Resolution Consider the following suggestions as you configure your ID Works project for use with I/NET Seven: Keep Image Path Short When you create a project that will be accessed from PC’s across a network, keep the image paths as short as possible. Long images paths accessed across the network can slow the performance of your Video Badging system.   Define a "UNC" Image Path In a network, the Universal Naming Convention (UNC) is a way to identify a shared file without having to specify (or know) the storage device on which it resides. This type of path will allow ID Works users at different machines across the network to successfully retrieve image files. Please refer to the DbCreate chapter in the I/NET Seven “Getting Started” guide for more information about UNC paths.   Store a Project's Images at a Single Location An ID Works project does not allow you to store images in multiple locations. Therefore, if you assign images to individuals from within I/NET Seven, ensure that each image is stored at the single location used by the ID Works project.   Rules for Multiple Image Location If the site requires multiple Image locations. It requires an ID Works Project defined for each image location. Note these Projects can be of the same design, however, the file name of the project must be different.

Considerations for I/NET Seven File Equalization

Issue Considerations for I/NET Seven File Equalization Product Line TAC INET Environment I/NET Seven Cause Knowing about the suggestions in this document prior to configuring file equalization will avoid many of the most common pitfalls and save considerable time and headaches. Resolution I/NET Seven SQL Server Setup and Password During the I/Net Seven Install process you should have been presented the following password. Be sure to remember this password. It must be known in order to perform certain functions using the DbCreate Utility. When assigning a password to the SQL server this password needs to be unique (DIFFERENT) password among all the passwords used in the system. For example, do not duplicate the passwords that you already use to log into your computer, log into the network, log into I/NET, or connect to the I/NET file master. The next time you use this password, is when you try to do a function in the DbCreate Editor. The Default user name is SA. The password is the one defined above. I/NET Seven File Equalization Setup and Passwords There are some Notes that need to be stated at the beginning of this document. Before upgrading an I/NET Seven file master or client to a newer host software build, ensure that you first demote the workstation back to standalone status. Otherwise, you risk corrupting the database contents among all equalized workstations. You must have Windows Administrator rights in order to make any changes to your I/Net configuration that will effect file equalization. File equalization is NOT available on the workstation if your Link type is NetPlus Router, Integrated Dial or Integrated NPR Dial. Password Protection Of the File Master When you activate the File Master box in the IOServer editor, see example of this editor below. Please note the File Master name that Inet puts in the Name box (it is grayed out) above. You will have to know the exact way this is listed, including the case. After you OK this editor you will be presented a request for a File Master Password. There are some rules that need to be discussed here. When assigning a user and password to a File Master, ensure that these are different than any other user name and password on your system. For example, do not duplicate the windows computer name or the user name and password that you already use to log into your computer, log into the network, or log into the Inet Seven, or the SQL (DbCreate) password. The File Master “USER” name can contain up to 128 characters. However, the following characters CANNOT be used within the “USER” name: “ /\ [ ] : ; | = , + * ? < > The Unique (different) Password can contain up to 128 characters. All keyboard characters are valid for use within this password. Immediately after you close the Inet Configuration Profiles dialog, Inet attempts to configure your workstation as a File Master. You may also receive a message explaining that the I/O server must be shutdown and restarted before your workstation can become a File Master. As the workstation is being configured, various balloon-style messages appear near the I/O Server System tray ICON. These messages provide information on the current status of the configuration process. When the configuration process is complete, the I/O Server System tray ICON will change to a symbol that looks like a 2-drawer file cabinet. The system automatically creates a “snapshot” of this workstation’s current database as soon as it finishes configuring itself as a file master. This snapshot, along with any changes that may have occurred since the snapshot was created, will be sent to the other workstations as they are being promoted from a standalone workstation to an equalized client. While the database snapshot is being created, no client will receive updated information from the file master. During this time, the I/O Server ICON in the file master System Tray changes to a CYAN color, indicating that the server is busy. Promoting a Standalone Workstation To an Equalized Client You must have Windows Administrator rights in order to make any changes to your I/Net configuration that effects File Equalization. If you are promoting your workstation to be an equalized client (i.e., you have entered the name of the File Master workstation in the File Master Name field). You are presented a dialog box for the Workstation password. Enter the USER name that has been assigned to the File Master PC. Enter the File Master PASSWORD. Select OK If you correctly enter the user name and password defined for the selected File Master, the Workstation will be automatically promoted to an equalized client. The I/O Server system tray will indicated balloons with the status of Clients ICON. The User Names and Passwords are examples in this case. These are examples only and may not be the Actual User or Password in a system.     File Master PC Client #1 PC Client #2 PC SQL       Username SA SA SA Password P@ssword1 P@ssword1 P@ssword1 PROMOTE       Username Fileq Fileq Fileq Password Fileq Fileq Fileq I/NET       Username tac tac tac Password dacs dacs dacs WINDOWS       Username tom larry chuck Password dog cat fish NETWORK       Username tomp larryc chuckv Password 1234 5567 2526   The User Name and Password for each PC above in the vertical list MUST BE DIFFERENT. The User Name and Password for each PC above horizontally CAN BE the same. In the case of the Promotional Password, they MUST BE the same Horizontally. Otherwise File Equalization will not occur. In the case of the SQL Password, they MUST BE the same Horizontally. Otherwise File Equalization will not occur.

What considerations should be given to I/NET Seven Promotion?

Issue What considerations should be given to I/NET Seven Promotion? Environment I/NET Seven Cause When Promoting or Demoting a File Master or Workstation you have to wait for the process to finish before closing out of the I/NET system. Below is a description of the area of the process that might cause you this problem. Resolution Between the next to last "I/NET Seven Balloon" is displayed and the final "Balloon" is displayed is a long pause without any appearance of any "Balloons." Do not stop or close out of the I/NET Seven system; wait at least for 5 minutes to make sure the last "Balloon" is displayed. The File Master Icon, on the bottom task bar, should turn a cyan blue and then back to gray. This is a good signal that the SQL is finished updating.
