Issue Launching Continuum results in error "This workstation is currently unable to connect to the database. Click OK to exit." Also, running Continuum DB initialization results in error: SQL Server [server name] does not exist or access denied. Workstation Setup Failed! Please try again or click Cancel to exit. Environment CyberStation LAN system Cause Fire wall on the server machine is blocking TCP port 1433 Another cause for this happening is a Windows firewall or McAfee firewall being enabled and blocking the IP of the 2nd Cyberstation that is trying to connect. Resolution Disable fire wall at the server or add an exception for TCP port 1433 (or the port used by the client to get access to the server if different).

Issue A hard drive failure on the LAN SQL server or on a Stand Alone workstation is preventing Cyberstation from starting. Environment LAN Server and StandAlone workstations Cause A hard drive failure on the LAN SQL server or on a Stand Alone workstation is preventing Cyberstation from starting. The site does not have a verified SQL backup of the database. The raw data files, typically named ContinuumDev.mdf and ContinuumLog.ldf, can be recovered. Resolution For a standalone, use the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Express. The freeware SQL front end is much easier to use than the command line. The Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Express will also allow you to administer SQL 2000 MSDE databases. The Management Studio Express can be downloaded for free from Microsoft using the link below. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c243a5ae-4bd1-4e3d-94b8-5a0f62bf7796&DisplayLang=en  This procedure assumes that the Continuum database no longer exists on the SQL Server. It is also critical that SQL is up and running.  If the SQL Server or StandAlone workstation hard drive has crashed, SQL must be reinstalled on a functioning workstation before attempting to attach the raw data files. Issue WebPinpoint is not successfully installing on client machine during initial graphic launch. Environment WebClient WebPinpoint Cause Client PC has been locked down by customers IT department. Resolution Ask the customers IT department to open up security on the client machine until the WebPinpoint installation is completed.  Once WebPinpoint has installed the security setting on the client machine can be restored. On Windows 7 machines, set User Account Settings to minimum until WebPinpoint has completed its initial installation. 

Issue Alarms are not clearing from the Active Alarm View when they Return To Normal and are Acknowledged. Environment Continuum Cyberstation Cause The "To Normal" Transition is not being sent to the recipient Workstation. Resolution Confirm that the "To Normal" transition events are configured to be sent to the recipient Workstation. In your EventNotification objects: Go to the Recipients tab. For each recipient Workstation, check the "To Normal" transition entry.

Issue Even though the "Suppress form feeds when printing alarms" option is selected in the Workstation Preferences, alarm printer is printing only one alarm per page. Environment CyberStation Alarms Printer Cause The alarm printer is issuing a form feed at the end of every alarm message. Resolution If the "Suppress form feeds when printing alarms" option is set to true in the Workstation Preferences, this issue has to be handled at the printers internal settings by adjusting the page length and other settings. 

Issue A program turns on an output based on a comparison of a door's forced entry attribute and the value of a schedule numeric.  The program is disabling and throws an error. Environment AC1 AC1 Plus Plain English CyberStation Continuum Cause An Infinity Numeric and the Forced Entry attribute of a Continuum door object are incompatible value types.  Resolution Use an If/Then/Else expression to evaluate the value of the doors Forced Entry attribute, and the Infinity Numeric's value separately.  Then Switch the state of the output based on the result of the evaluation. Original Code   If (AHCASECACC100A ForcedEntry and PerimeterDoors) then Goto AlarmOutputOn Corrected Code   If (AHCASECACC100A ForcedEntry = True) and (PerimeterDoors = On) then Goto AlarmOutputOn

Issue How many IE entries can Continuum controllers have? Environment CX controllers Infinet controllers Cause Limitations of IE entries in Continuum controllers Resolution Infinet controllers = 255 CX level controllers = 65535

Issue How to install / add WebClient to existing SU installation of Continuum. Environment Continuum WebClient Cause Existing Continuum SU Cyberstation installed and site is being upgraded with WebClient support. Resolution Perform the following steps to install WebClient on your Single-User installation. Backup the ContinuumDB, Graphics files, and Menus to a safe location. (For detailed steps on how to backup / restore your ContinuumDB see here.) Upgrade security key to allow WebClient. (from supplied serialized upgrade code from Repairs) Uninstall Continuum. Install WebClient from scratch following the Planning and Installation Guide. (IIS then WebClient) Restore your ContinuumDB, graphics files and Menus. Test

Issue Can Microsoft Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) be used with Cyberstation? Environment Cyberstation linking to Excel using the OLE Toolkit. OLE, replacing the old DDE connections. Cause Live data is often required outside Cyberstation. Resolution The Continuum OLE Toolkit can be downloaded from The Exchange Download Center - download Continuum OLE Toolkit

Issue WebClient installs and runs normally until the client session is terminated.  On the next client session WebClient goes through an install process as if WebClient had never been installed. Environment WebClient WebPinpoint Cause WebPinpoint appears to uninstall at the end of each client session.  Deleting WebPinpoint folders and registry keys do not resolve this issue. Resolution This issue was resolved by uninstalling WebClient on the webserver, including deleting the folder structure and associated registry keys and then reinstalling WebClient.

Issue Cannot being AAON bacnet device online in Continuum Environment Continuum Bacnet AAON Cause The baud rate wasn't being detected by the AAON device Resolution Set the baud rate in the AAON device to auto detect

Issue Unable to add second Workstation to Single-user (SU) installation. Receive SQL error "SQL Server PC_Name\SQLEXPRESS does not exist or access denied" Environment Continuum Cyberstation SQL Express Cause SQL Server was not configured properly for remote connections. Resolution Follow the steps in the Microsoft article on how to enable the correct protocols and open the firewall to allow these connections. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345343.aspx

Issue Eaton IP BACnet Lighting Panels are successfully discovered via the Find BACnet Devices but then go offline with error "Communications failure due to routing device not available" Product Line Andover Continuum Environment CyberStation Cause IP BACnet level Eaton devices configured with network number other than zero Resolution Set the network number to zero for all Eaton lighting panels. Then they will stay online.

Issue Instead of logging a value on a set time interval, can I only log the value when it changes? Product Line Andover Continuum Environment Logging - all controller types. Time Interval = 0 Log value on change. Semi Automatic logging. Cause When working with strings, date times or Plain English comms drivers, it is often required to only log a value on change. How can this be achieved? Resolution Create the point in the usual way. On the "Logs" tab, enter the number of log entries required. Select "Log Instantaneous." Leave all of the Time intervals at 0. The controller will now log a new value every time the point value changes and all log entries move down 1 position. This is often called Semi Automatic logging. Note: This logging method is not related to time in any way, however creating an Infinity DateTime point and writing to that with the Date system variable when the point is updated would allow the time / date of the change to be recorded.

Issue Cyberstation locks up and becomes unresponsive. Environment CyberStation WebClient Cause Problem with OS or computer hardware. Resolution Reformat the workstations hard drive and or install a new operating system that is supported by the current version of Cyberstation. Backup the Continuum Database. Reinstall Cyberstation. Run Continuum Database Initialization an initialize the workstation. 

Issue After a valid door unlock, Continuum, by default, turns off the door lock output one second after the door opens when a door switch is used. How can this sequence be modified? Environment ACX AC1 Cause Due to the locking hardware used, sometimes it is necessary to make sure the door is closed before energizing the maglock. Resolution Use a Plain English program as follows: ' File Name: LONGLOCK.TXT ' Program name: LongLockProgram ' '   This program keeps the door strike energized until after the door '   closes. This is needed for certain types of door hardware. Normally, '   the door strike is de-energized 1 second after the door is physically '   opened. ' ' Flowtype: Looping, Autostart 1:   If Door1 ValidAccess is On then Goto 3   If Door1 ExitRequest is On then Goto 2 2:   If Door1 DoorSwitch is Opened then Goto 3   If TS > Door1 DoorStrikeTime then Goto 1    ' in case the door doesn't get opened 3:   Door1 = UnLocked   If Door1 DoorSwitch is Closed then Goto 4   If TS > 60 then Goto 4    ' safety 4:   If TS >=1 then    Door1 = Locked    Goto 1   Endif

Issue Following upgrade of CyberStation, two of the workstations freeze up.  Task Manager shows AUDIOP~1.EXE at 99% CPU utilization. Environment Cyberstation WebClient WebServer Cause CyberStation cannot resolve an audio file link in an AlarmEnrollment or EventNotification. Resolution Review all AudioFile references linked in all AlarmEnrollments and EventNotifications. Verify files referenced on the PC exist in the path location shown in the object editor. Repair or remove invalid audio file references from all AlarmEnrollments and all EventNotifications.

Issue Communication between the guard shack controller was working after installation but the controller has since lost communication with the master controller.  Communication to controller could not be reestablished. Environment BCX Wireless Cause Weak wireless mesh due to the quantity and proximity of nearest controllers. Resolution Install wireless repeaters to strengthen the wireless mesh.

Issue The output fuse of the i2814 is replaceable at the site and want to purchase them from our iPortal website. Environment i2814 Infinet controller Cause The output fuse blows out at the site and want to replace the fuse at the site. Resolution The i2814's output fuse is " FUSE NANO W/SOCKET 1/8A 125V ", and its part# ( part number / part # ) in Schneider Electric iPortal website is 01-2180-005 . 

Issue Can photos be added to personnel using webclient? Environment Continuum Webclient Windows XP Windows Vista Windows 7 Windows Server 2003 Windows Server 2008 Cause Webclient is mainly a viewer and doesn't have the ability with some features for editing.  There isn't a way from a Webclient browser PC to add or edit photos for personnel. Resolution Personnel photos must be added using Cyberstation personnel editor or personnel manager and may then be viewed in a webclient browser session.
