Issue What is the difference between the MNL-V3RV3 and the MNL-V3RV3-A? Environment  MNL-V3RV3 MNL-V3RV3-A Cause MNL-V3RV3-A is a new part number, and it isn't clear how it differs from the existing  MNL-V3RV3. Resolution The MNL-V3RV3-A meets the requirements of the Buy American Act (BAA).

Issue The BDelay object from the LonWorks jar conversion library intermittently shows very large "remaining time" causing logic issues. Environment R2, UNC's Cause The BDelay object does not initialize the time remaining properly under some conditions. Resolution In the Lib jar - programObjects - hvac folder there is a program called DelayedOutput.sns.  This program can do the delayed on and off function but will need to be enhanced if the time remaining output is required.

Issue When the ENC is set up to pull weather data from the Enterprise Server the ENC's Application Director starts spewing out provisioning errors. Environment I/A Series G3 Cause When set up to do this the ENC uses provisioningNiagara functionality and requires that module be present in the ENC Resolution Install the provisioningNiagara module in the ENC.

Issue Is the Niagara G3 Floating License Repository (FLR) available for purchase? The FLR is a licensed feature that runs as a service in a Niagara station to provide licenses to other Niagara Runtime Environment (NRE) applications. Available licenses are 'leased' by authorized NRE applications at startup and 'returned' when the application shuts down. Environment Niagara G3 (version 3.5 and higher) Cause Field question Resolution The FLR was introduced with version 3.5 and discontinued shortly thereafter by Tridium. It is no longer available for purchase.

Issue Which Modbus driver is required for I/A Series Niagara G3 ENC-520 to support Modbus TCP? Environment I/A Series G3 ENC-520, JACE-645, JACE-6E, JACE-7, JACE-NXT, ENC-SW Cause Select the correct part number to enable the ENC to function as a Modbus TCP Client (Master) or Server (Slave).  Resolution ENC-DRV-MOD-T (ENC 520 acts as Modbus master (client) using Ethernet TCP) ENC-DRV-MOD-R (ENC 520 acts as Modbus server (slave) using Ethernet TCP) using Ethernet TCP master using Ethernet TCP

Issue A MicroSmart controller is not communicating and the red watchdog timer (WDT) LED is on solid. Environment DMS Cause Possible hardware issue or power issue Resolution Things to try: - Power cycle the controller - Verify it has a good earth ground and 24 Vac - Hardware clear the controller - Replace the line driver and disconnect the communications trunk - If it is a MSC-MPC, remove all modules.  If the WDT LED begins flashing normally, re-connect the modules one at a time until the WDT LED goes solid   On-board hardware issue.  Replace with another controller

Issue Both errors indicate WorkPlace Tech cannot determine if the vsd file being opened is in the current project. Environment WorkPlace Tech Cause The names of the folders that were brought forward contained an apostrophe, i.e. Vav's, AHU's, etc. Resolution Rename the folders eliminating the apostrophe before bringing the folders\drawings into the new project and these errors will not occur.

Issue An existing Niagara G3 server is being replaced with new hardware.  The new server is being configured while the existing server continues to operate the station.  A replacement license has been provided for the new server with a new hostId.  The license for the existing server has been de-activated by Tridium.  Will the existing server continue to function even though its license has been de-activated?  Note:  The existing server has an Internet connection. Environment Niagara G3 Cause PC hardware replacement Resolution The existing server will continue to run the station.  The license remains active as long as there is no web-based license update performed.

Issue Does the JACE-645 come with 128 MB or 256 MB like the ENC-520? Environment I/A Series, JACE-603/645 Cause Not sure what it comes with after reviewing announcement PA-251. Resolution A JACE-603 or JACE-645 comes standard with 128 MB of RAM with the option to upgrade to 256 MB.  The part number for the optional memory upgrade is TRD-NPM-256. This part number modifies the license which enables the factory-installed memory (license line:  maxHeap=true).

Issue User has a backup of my files that they have restored onto a new workstation PC but now they are unable to edit the files.  For example: A Continuum graphic needs to be edited and cannot save changes but can save as a new graphic. Environment Window OS Windows XP Windows 7 8 8.1 10 Windows Vista Cause This is caused by Microsoft Windows OS. Windows will automatically make a file "Read only" if it has been moved from another PC  Resolution The solution is to change the files back to read / write. Example: Open Windows Explorer and find the folder you want to change, for this example it is "Continuum graphics." Right click on the folder and select properties, which shows a tab that will be ticked next to "read only" deselect this tab and then select apply. Once windows has finished changing the folder and its contents to read/write the user will be able to go into continuum and edit graphics.

Issue The LON XML tool was used to create a lnml file.  Does it need to remain with the station at all times? Environment Niagara G3 Cause General database housekeeping Resolution Once the LON controller has been imported, the lnml file is no longer required and can be removed. Note:  If the LON controller's profile changes slightly (i.e. one or two SNVTs), a Learn Nv is sufficient to update the device in the station.  The Learn Nv command will not execute unless the reference to the lnml file is removed.

Issue Integration to CAN bus protocol Environment I/A Series R2 I/A Series G3 Cause There is a need to integrate to devices where the available communications protocol is CAN bus.  Resolution I/A Series does not have a driver for CAN bus protocol. A third party converter / gateway can be used to convert CAN bus to a standard protocol available in I/A Series.  The following company was found after a search on the Internet. Issue The suggested Belkin Bluetooth adapter is obsolete.  Is there a suggested replacement for use with RoamIA? Environment Roam IA BACnet MSTP communications Cause The suggested Belkin adapter is no longer available. Resolution Two alternates have been found to function well with the RoamIA; they are the AZIO BTD-V400 and SMK VP-6495.  Both of these devices are very compact and use Bluetooth v4.0 technology.

Issue How long will it take for a MNB controller to drop to 'Read-Only' mode when the AC power supply voltage drops below 20.4 Vac? Environment MNB controllers Cause Site installation using one AC transformer for multiple controllers.  Site is also suffering brownout conditions. Resolution Factory testing confirms that it takes only one AC cycle of power (i.e. one complete sine wave) of voltage below 20.4 Vac for the controller to drop into 'Read-Only' mode. It is difficult to view with a standard digital multimeter.  A scope may be required to capture the voltage dip.

Issue The jobsite will eventually have 4 RS-485 trunks each communicating Modbus.  Two option cards have been ordered with the Jace (part# TRD-NPB-2X-485). Does each port on the option cards need a separate Modbus driver purchased for each? Environment Niagara G3 Cause Ordering/licensing clarification Resolution Purchasing one Modbus driver (part# ENC-DRV-MOD) will cover all ports used for Modbus on the Jace-6/7.

Issue The Enterprise Server’s archives are not updating and the following message is displayed in the Standard Output Window:      ERROR: LogService.archive: SQL Exception: Container 1,342,197,790,972 not found.      ERROR: LogService.archive: Force close of Connection!      WARNING: Closed Pooled connection [ConnectionPool]      ERROR: XSCH1: Container 1,342,197,790,972 not found.   Environment Niagara R2 Enterprise Server – all versions Cause The “SQL Exception” error and “Closed pooled connection” warning appears to indicate a corruption within the Cloudscape SQL database. Resolution In this instance, the app folder became corrupt when copied between builds during an upgrade.  The original app folder was simply recopied. The second copy of the app folder copied without errors.   The following would apply in instances were the original app folder is corrupt:  First, try and recover the Cloudscape database and repair the corruption using the console and the dbadmin command.  After stopping the station, open the console and run the command at the prompt:            dbadmin >  recover  The software will search through the Cloudscape SQL database and attempt to clear the errors and recover the database.  If this is unsuccessful, you may have to remove the APP folder from the station and start over.    To remove the Enterprise Server’s app folder: Stop the server’s database and delete its app folder.  A new app folder will be created when the server is restarted.    Note: All archived information will be lost when the app folder is deleted.          

Issue Is there a replacement RJ-11 to BACnet MSTP cable for I/A Series Roam IA? Environment Roam IA, MNB-ROAM-IA Cause Need to replace cable. Resolution The part number for the replacement RJ-11 to BACnet MSTP cable for Roam IA is MNB-ROAM-CBL.

Issue The message “Unsupported Unconfirmed service” is displayed in the Standard output Window of an UNC-520. Environment Niagara G3, R2, UNC-520, ENC-520 Cause Some manufactures’ BACnet controllers use unconfirmed service which the UNC/ENC does not handle so they are ignored by the UNC/ENC. Resolution These are nuisance messages which cause no issues. The messages can be ignored.

Issue Using Vykon Alarm Services no sound is played on alarm popup, sound is enabled in both server and clients. Default sound is enabled and valid (operates in Windows when tested) and same for object level alarm sound. Have entered object level alarming parameters with pipe symbol, sc and tag in alarm text but even the default global sound doesn't work Environment Niagara R2 Vykon Alarm Client Cause The Vykon Alrm Client only supports wav files in standard PCM format, wav files that use compression codecs (e.g. mpeg3, etc.) do not work. Resolution Right click on the sound files and view the properties. The summary tab typically indicates the audio format. (for information on audio formats see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_file_format)  There are free utilities such as Moo0 Audio Converter that can be used to convert audio file formats

Issue Getting Error: Class ID error when starting WorkPlace Tech. Environment WorkPlace Tech installation Cause The error indicates WorkPlace Tech is having problems working with RTMonitor. Resolution Remove the newest LDV driver first then the older ones and then uninstall and reinstall WPT. During the install WPT will load the LDV driver it requires.
