Interfacing with a Trane BCU panel with a 7797-12 ICI

Issue Interfacing with a Trane BCU panel with a 7797-12 ICI Environment I/NET Seven Site with 7797-12 ICI and TRANE BCU Cause The 7797-12 ICI is a PTP (Point to Point) RS232 BACnet device which can be used to interface with Trane systems using their BCU panel. The BCU panel can be equipped with an optional Ethernet card. However the presence of this card can modify the addressing structure of the Trane device disabling communication with the ICI. Resolution The 7797-12 ICI is a PTP (Point to Point) RS232 BACnet device which can be used to interface with Trane systems using their BCU panel. The BCU panel can be equipped with an optional Ethernet card. However the presence of this card can modify the addressing structure of the Trane device disabling communication with the ICI. To resolve this problem simply remove the Ethernet card from the BCU panel. If the Ethernet card is required then a alternative interface will have to be utilized.

Connecting to Controllers using Dial.

Issue Connecting to Controllers using Dial. Environment I/NET Seven Site Cause How to connect to remote sites using Integrated Dial Resolution If the user is connecting to remote sites using Integrated Dial and the site controllers are not visible, please check the following settings: Open I/O Server, modify the dial profile Uncheck the Dial Box Shut down and restart I/O server Connect again If the user is connecting to remote sites using ADAA and the site controllers are not visible, check the following setting: 1.DTE (Host)--------DCE (Modem)-------DTE (Controller)-----9600 (Baud) All these need to be at 9600 Baud, otherwise the lights on the I/O Server would only show Red and no Green. This indicates that there is a Transmit but no receive between one of the above components. For I/NET Seven, only the US Robotics 56K Modems are supported.

Wildcard Filtering in AMT.

Issue Wildcard Filtering in AMT. Environment I/NET Seven Site Cause How to use Wild Card Filtering Resolution In AMT when filtering is being done on devices for data within the Device Name field, there are several characters that can be used to accomplish this task: % The % character is like the * character in windows find files. Searching for a device name of %device% would return any device name containing the string “device” _ The underscore character allows any single character. For example, searching for a device name of “device_” would return “device1”, “device2”, “devices” etc. () The left and right closed brackets allow a single character to be within a specified range (for example: (a-c) or within a set of characters (for example (abcd). Searching for a device name of “device (a-f) would return “device a” through to “device f” but not to “device g”. (^) This is the negation of the previous wildcard. It specifies that a single character should not be within a set of characters (for example, (^a-c) or (^abcd)).

Definable Tool Settings are not Transferable

Issue Definable Tool Settings are not Transferable Environment I/NET Seven Cause With the introduction of I/NET Seven, the Definable Tools button is a new feature providing a useful shortcut for applications to be more user friendly. Resolution The two kinds of tools available are Events and Shortcuts. The definition below gives the description of their uses: Event - Use this tool to execute an event sequence defined in a controller. Shortcut - Use this tool to launch another application, open a file, visit a website, etc. There is a misconception though, that they can be created on a graphic page, saved and then re-applied at another location. This is not the case. These Tools and Buttons are PC Specific and cannot be transferred from one PC to another because the SQL database does not save these settings. If the user wants to set up these Tools (Events and Shortcuts) then they would have to do it for each PC, that is looking at the data or each page that it exists on. This is providing the user has rights to these buttons through the Host Passwords.

Configuring Error Logging for Program Crashes (Dr. Watson)

Issue Configuring Error Logging for Program Crashes Environment I/NET Seven Site Cause Dr. Watson is not the default debugging software then the following steps can be used to configure it to be used as the default debugger Resolution Dr. Watson is a debugging program that is installed with the Windows operating system that generates error reports when programs crash. These error reports are very useful in determining the cause and support personnel will typically request a Dr. Watson log file as the first step of troubleshooting the problem. If for some reason Dr. Watson is not the default debugging software then the following steps can be used to configure it to be used as the default debugger. In the Start menu Run command type "drwtsn32 -i" and select "Ok". You should receive notification that Dr. Watson has been installed as the default application debugger. In the Start menu Run command type "drwtsn32.exe" and select "Ok". You can configure the directory that log files will be placed in among other options. The default directory is "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\DrWatson\". In the Start menu Run command type "regedit" and select "Ok". Browse to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\AEDebug" and verify that the entry "Auto" is set to the value of 1. Dr. Watson log files should now be generated upon program crashes. The above steps should be valid for Windows 2000 operating system and newer

Issue I/NET Seven System Log On Environment I/NET Seven Site Cause Knowledge on I/NET Seven System Log On steps Resolution If you are logging on to the system for the first time since rebooting, restarting the driver, selecting System Log Off, or using the Signoff on Quit option, you must enter your host password. Note: You can configure I/NET to allow operators to logon simply by swiping their key/card at a Wiegand reader connected to the host workstation. Refer to User Enrollment and Auto-logon for more information. If the system is not already displaying the Log On prompt, select System Log On from the main menu. Type your Operator Name. This name can contain up to 30 characters. The following characters cannot be used within the Operator Name:" / \ [ ] : ; | = , + * ? <> The default operator name is "tac". If the system has just been installed and no operator names have been assigned, this default name should still be available. After operator names have been defined, you may wish to remove the default operator name to prevent unauthorized users from gaining access. Type your password at the prompt. This password can contain up to 127 characters. All keyboard characters are valid for use within this password. The system displays an asterisk for each character you type. The default system password is "dacs". If the system has just been installed and no other host passwords have been assigned, this default password should still be available. After host passwords have been assigned to all authorized users, you may wish to remove the default password to prevent unauthorized users from gaining access. Select OK to continue. Caution: The database server should not be shut down while I/NET is running. Shutting down the database server drops all existing connections to the database, and can result in corrupted data displays. (Only users with administrative privileges on the workstation can stop or start the database server.)

Integrated Dial Function

Issue Integrated Dial Function Environment I/NET Site Cause This function provides one-way communication between a PC and one or more LANs when you configure your system as "Dial" using the I/NET Setup program. The PC can dial out to a LAN but the LAN cannot dial out to the remote PC. You must use a US Robotics 56k modem model 5686E and a 78010 Tap at each LAN you want to call. You must have a second US Robotics 56k modem model 5686E connected to the PC doing the dialing. Resolution Define the phone numbers for the PC using the Phone Numbers Editor that appears in the Host portion of the Edit menu when you configure your system as "Dial." You must configure the modems attached at the call initiating end (modem connected to the host PC) and the call receiving end (78010 Tap on the controller LAN) so they communicate with each other. Define the address, name, modem speed and telephone number of up to 64 remote devices per host. Select Edit Host Computer Phone numbers from the main menu. The system displays the Phone Number editor. This editor allows you to add, delete, modify, or copy phone numbers. This editor also lists the remote sites you can access from this host. If you have not added any sites, the fields are blank. Select Add. The system displays the Phone Numbers - Add editor. Select the Index (0 to 63). This number determines which line in the list will display this entry. Enter a Name for the remote site (up to 16 characters). Choose a Dialing Speed from the drop-down list. The speed you select must be equal to or less than the maximum speed of the modem performing the dial out. Define a Telephone Number (up to 31 characters). Not recommended to use XBuilder time schedules to control I/NET controllers

Issue Using Time Schedules in the Xenta 527 Environment Xenta 527 I/NET system I2V integration Cause Users should exercise caution when creating time schedule objects and pages in the Xenta 527. If a time schedule is created and directed at an I/NET point that already has a time schedule on the controller, the point value will be incorrect until the schedules synchronize. Due to the risk of improper results, possible harm to equipment in an HVAC environment, possible security breaches in a security environment, and the risk that if Ethernet communications fail the point will not operate according to the schedule it is recommended that time schedules in the 527 not be used with I/NET points. Resolution The I/NET time schedule object, which is created during the save file conversion in XBuilder, should be used . This object will direct you to a page that modifies the I/NET time schedule on the controller.

Standard acronym video formats: PAL and NTSC

Issue There are two standard acronym video formats. What do PAL and NTSC stand for? Environment I/NET site Cause Answering the question of what do PAL and NTSC stands for. Resolution PAL This is short for Phase Alternating Line, the dominant television standard in Europe. The United States uses a different standard NTSC. Whereas NTSC delivers 525 lines of resolution at 60 half-frames per second, PAL delivers 625 lines at 50 half frames per second. Many Video adapters that enable computer monitors to be used as television screens support both NTSC and PAL signals. NTSC This is short for National Television System Committee. The NTSC is responsible for setting television and video standards in the United States (in Europe and the rest of the world, the dominant television standards are PAL and SECAM). The NTSC standard for television defines a composite video signal with a refresh rate of 60 half-frames (interlaced) per second. Each line contains 525 lines and can contain 16 million different colors. The NTSC standard is incompatible with most computer video standards, which generally use RGB video signals. However, you can insert special video adapters into your computer that convert NTSC signals into computer video signals and vice versa.
