Issue In I/NET version 2.16 and above, after installation, the first thing that needs to be set up is a profile. It can be a new one or use the existing one profile. Environment In I/NET version 2.16 and above, after installation, the firs thing that needs to be set up is a profile. It can be a new one or use the existing one profile. Cause In I/NET version 2.16 and above, after installation, the first thing that needs to be set up is a profile. It can be a new one or use the existing one profile. Resolution Start the I/O Configuration, log in using the default username and password. Select the default settings and once the editor opens up, choose the link set up that will be used for this configuration, like Direct Connect, Com number, Baud Rate.  For Direct Connect the Hardware address must be 0. In the Workstation Options, click on the connect button and verify that the correct Database is being connected to. For a Server/Client Option, verify that the local host is set to Remote Client if using a different database that resides elsewhere (this is only for versions 2.40 and higher). Enable Access Control and CCTV if this is being used or leave unchecked if not. Leave the default save directories, unless you plan on saving elsewhere. Enable TCP/IP if needed and Host number. Put in reference Hosts if applicable, set I/O Server to Shut down if no clients or Maintain, depending on what you want it to do. Click on the okay button, to close the editor and click on Make Active to enable the new editor to be the active profile. Close I/NET and I/O Server and then restart it again. Graphics or Webpages not working in a Xenta 701 or 721

Issue Graphics or Webpages not working in a Xenta 701 or 721.  They can be built and configured in XBuilder, but then when logging into the web interface, they do not appear in the menu. Environment Xenta 701, Xenta 721 Cause The Xenta 701 and Xenta 721 only have "Service Web" capabilities. Service Web means it is not possible to have any end-user web content, such as graphics, trend viewers, alarm viewers or value pages. To get access to end-user information, connect the Service Web controllers to TAC Vista and retrieve the full range of information. The Xenta 711 and Xenta 731 have the necessary support for "Custom Web." Custom Web means that the web interface is totally configurable in TAC XBuilder, the Xenta server configuration tool; navigation and all features for creating a full end-user web are available.   Modbus MicroNet I/NET WEB I/O Modules Support Xenta 280/300/401 Xenta 701       Service 10   Xenta 711       Custom 10 X Xenta 721       Service 20 X Xenta 731 X X X Custom 20 X Resolution If custom web is needed at the Xenta Server then a Xenta 711 or 731 needs to be installed instead of the 701 or 711. Another option would be to put Vista on top of the Xenta Server and build graphics at the HMI level.

What does it mean when a point goes "OLD" in I/NET?

Issue What does it mean when a point goes "OLD" in I/NET? Product Line TAC INET Environment I/NET Cause Points are labeled as old when the value is invalid or the point is no longer communicating. Here are possible reasons a point shows up as "OLD" or "old data" The SubLAN or UC device is offline or not communicating. In this case all points on the device will show as "old data" Indirect points are flagged as "Old" anytime an update request is initiated and no response is received from the global point for 2 scan intervals. If the sensor on an input produces a number either lower than the low sensor limit or higher than the high sensor limit the point will go old. DDC control logic outputs a value out of range of the point SubLan Communication error Improper global level on sending controller Resolution The SubLAN or UC device is offline or not communicating. In this case all points on the device will show as "old data" Check to ensure the device is powered up and check physical communication. Ensure that the device is enabled in MCU Configuration and verify that the correct device type is specified. Indirect points are flagged as "Old" anytime an update request is initiated and no response is received from the global point for 2 scan intervals. Check the scan intervals of the indirect point and increase it to a larger setting. See TCON300 for details about how information requests are send between global and indirect points. A long scan interval will not translate to a delay in information being sent. Also check the communication path between the 2 points and ensure all equipment is working properly. For example if there is a known issue with an NPR that has global points underneath it, then all indirect points referencing those global points will frequently go old. If the sensor on an input produces a number either lower than the low sensor limit or higher than the high sensor limit the point will go old. Check the sensor and determine if it is faulty. If the value that is being sent is acceptable then increase and decrease the High and Low Sensor limits. This can also be caused by a sensor being disconnected. DDC control logic outputs a value out of range of the point Check all points that the DDC references and determine which is going old. Use Failsafe commands whenever available. SubLan Communication error Check the physical condition of the wiring on the SubLan. Determine if any SubLan device is faulty and interrupting communication. Improper global level on sending point Connect to the controller with the sending point and check it's global level. if the receiving point is on the same physical controller LAN wire you can set this to "LAN". If not, set it to "System"

"Unmap block xxx at remount" message during boot of Xenta Server

Issue During the boot sequence of a Xenta Server the message "Unmap block xxx at remount" occurs. Environment Xenta 511 Xenta 527 Xenta 555 Xenta 701 Xenta 711 Xenta 721 Xenta 731 Xenta 913 Cause Sections of the flash drive are being declared bad and are being removed from the accessible drive map. This can be a natural pruning process of bad sections due to drive damage or that section exceeding the maximum number of writes. The amount of lost space is: # of pages * 2 bytes All hardware 2 Xenta Servers have 16mb flash drives, so it takes a large number of pages to be lost before significant space is lost and will impact performance of the unit. Resolution If the number of pages is low and is not increasing then the unit should function normally without any additional action. If the number of pages is exceeding 50000 or increasing rapidly, then have the Xenta Server repaired or replaced depending on its age.

Unable to display graphics from an I/A Series R2 Enterprise Server or UNC.

Issue An Internet Explorer ActiveX function involving the running of Java applets used to display the I/A Series R2 graphics prevents the Java applet from executing properly. Environment I/A Series R2 software release 522.v2, 529 or 532 Cause Microsoft changed the procedure by which Internet Explorer handles third party ActiveX applets, including the Java applets used in the I/A Series R2 system.  This change was applied as an update to all older versions of Internet Explorer and is included in Internet Explorer 8. Resolution There was a workaround provided with the R2 522.v2 release that can be used to prevent this Java applet activation issue from happening. The update consists of adding or modifying some of the information in the station.properties files and applies to both ES based stations and UNC based stations. 1. To update the Enterprise Server / WorkPlace Pro, save and backup the station database accordingly. While in the admin tool, open the station.properties file.  Select menu item Admin Tool -> Host -> Edit File -> System Properties.  Edit the file by adding the following text to the end of the file.   Make sure not to delete the # character as this specifies a comment line.  Save and close the system.properties file (File ->Save). # This is used to disable the IE ActiveX activation fix. If set to # to false, then the user will be required to click on the applet # before he is able to interact with it (only effects IE users). ie.activex.activation=false 2. To update the UNCs, log into the UNC using the Admin Tool and open the station.properties file.  Select menu item Admin Tool -> Host -> Edit File -> System Properties.  Edit the file by adding the following text to the end of the file. Make sure not to delete the # character as this specifies a comment line.  Save and close the system.properties file (File -> Save). # This is used to disable the IE ActiveX activation fix. If set to # to false, then the user will be required to click on the applet # before he is able to interact with it (only effects IE users). ie.activex.activation=false

"Error: Click for detail" or Dynamic mode not functioning when opening a graphic.

Issue Various error when trying to login, cant open graphics Environment Vista webstation Cause Java errors i.e. When opening graphic error "Error: Click for detail" or Dynamic mode not functioning. Resolution Dynamic picture not working are most likely caused by wrong Java version. Vista 5.1.4 uses Java 1.6-17 but installing this version afterwards might causes other problem like "Error: Click for detail (various java code errors). This can be resolved by reinstalling the webserver again or check for the following. IIS use the wrong version of .NET. - Go to administrator tool and choose Internet information services. - Choose Web sites then Default Web Site - Right click on Webstation and choose properties - Go to the ASP.NET tab and make sure the version specified are 2.0.... Address used  HTTP://IP/defaultpage.aspx when it should be using HTTP://IP/webstation/defaultpage.aspx - Go to same path as above but instead of right clicking the Webstation right click on the tree above "Default Web Site" and choose properties. - Go to the tab Home directory and check local path it should be directed to wwwroot (see attached) Then write in the address HTTP://IP/webstation/ (might work if you try directly) There have always been problem in which order you install programs, it has been noticed that sometimes java needs to be installed before webstation since webstation tries to reach components in java that do not exist else. So a try would also be to reinstall webstation now when the new Java version are already installed.

MFC error on Continuum startup or Continuum won't start on HP PC

Issue MFC error on util.dll on Continuum startup or Continuum won't start when using an Hewlett Packard PC even though Antivirus software isn't installed and the Windows Firewall was turned off during Continuum installation. One of the symptoms of the interference of password protection software is to prompt to save passwords through a form. The Continuum database initialization has passwords, and a form with an image surrounded the database initialization dialog box. This made the dialog box look different than normal, and was the key that it was interfering with Continuum's normal operation. Product Line Andover Continuum Environment XP SP3 Windows Server 2003 Windows Server 2008 Cause HP Protect Tools are installed and interfering with the operation of Continuum Resolution Uninstall HP Protect Tools and reinstall Continuum. Disabling HP Protect and reinstalling did not correct the issue. There is a potential for other protection tools like Norton's password protect, McAfee Security Suite or a number of other password protection software that could interfere with the Continuum install.

Xenta 102-AX Damper and Floating Output Resynchronization

Issue How and when does a Xenta 102-AX resynchronize its damper floating output control? Environment Xenta 102-AX v2.17 and up Cause Documented reasons for a damper and floating output resynchronization on a Xenta 102-AX controller Resolution There are 5 events that cause a Xenta 102-AX to resynchronize its floating control logic for the damper and other outputs. These reasons are: At controller reset. (This could be a power cycle or reset command via TAC Vista/LNS) If the damper motor position command has been inside its "active zone" (5% - 95%) for an accumulated time of 24 hours, AND the motor position then goes to 0% or 100% (Note that the outputs and damper are timed and reset independent of each other) Indication of error in flow detection. This is if nvoFlowControlPt = 0 but nvoMotorPositn > 0 for 1 minute or more If nviEmergCmd is set to any of the following modes: EMERG_PRESSURIZE EMERG_DEPRESSURIZE EMERG_PURGE EMERG_SHUTDOWN and then goes back to EMERG_NORMAL A controller reset via Lonmaker or NL220 will also cause a resynchronization of the damper and the other floating outputs. This is necessary if the stroke time (throttling range) or stroke direction is changed in the middle of a damper operation
