How do you integrate MNL version 3 controllers into a SmartStruxure solution Automation Server?

Issue I/A Series MNL version 3 controller profiles are not shown in the list when adding a new LON device to a SmartStruxure Automation Server.  How do I add the template for one of those controllers to the Automation Server? Environment SmartStruxure 1.3 or newer Automation Server I/A Series MNL version 3 or earlier controllers. Cause Templates are not provided in SmartStruxure 1.3 for the older families of I/A Series MNL controllers Resolution Import a device template per StruxureWare Building Operation release 1.3 Technical Reference Guide section 40.14. This procedure is used any time the device template was not pre-defined or has not been imported into the AS. The templates for the older MNL family of controllers can be downloaded from the Download Center. You should also download the associated readme file so that you understand the arrangement of the files in the folders of the zip file. We suggest that you download and unzip the entire file to your computer using the folder structure contained in the zip file. The readme file lists the xif files contained in each of the xif folders. The xif files contained in the xif_40 folder are already contained in the SmartStruxure 1.3 system. When importing these templates into StruxureWare 1.3, you may get some warnings about SelfDoc strings and possibly errors about missing DRF types. Both issues can be ignored. If errors are reported regarding missing DRF types, click the [No] button to continue the import process.   After importing the template, you can then create the device under the LonWorks network as defined in the StruxureWare Building Operation Technical Reference Guide section 40.2. The template that you imported will be listed based on the name and profile of the device. You can assign a name of your choice (or use the default) for the created device. After device NeuronID or using the service pin process to send it from the controller, you then commission the added device. You should select the option "Keep current configuration in the device". Do not check the "Device application file" because the I/A Series MNL controllers do not use loadable executable files.

How do I upgrade a WorkPlace Tech Tool drawing created in version 3.1 to the latest version?

Issue Upgrading computer to a newer version of the WorkPlace Tech Tool and need to tell customer how to upgrade his existing files. Environment Application drawings created in WPT 3.2 or earlier WPT 5.8 is now installed. Cause An internal change was made to the WorkPlace Tech Tool drawing format in WPT 3.2sp1.  Drawings must be in the format created by this version before they can be automatically be upgraded to a newer version. Resolution NOTE: DO NOT INSTALL WORKPLACE TECH 3.2 ON A COMPUTER THAT ALREADY HAS AN NEWER INSTALLATION OF THE WORKPLACE TECH TOOL SOFTWARE INSTALLED.  If this is the case, a different computer must be used for the conversion. Follow the directions in the "WorkPlace Tech Tool Version 3.2 Service Pack 1 Installation Instructions. This document along with the WPT32.exe  and WPT32sp1_Lite.exe software can be downloaded from The Exchange Download Center. Although the installation instructions document states that WPT32 runs only on Windows 2000, it will also run properly on Windows XP.  Visio 2000sp1 is required for WorkPlace Tech 3.2. The procedure for converting the application file is as follows. You may either copy the entire project folder from the existing version of WPT into the 3.2sp1 projects folder or create a new project under WPT32.sp1.  After creating the new project copy the applications to be converted into that project folder and add them to the project. Open the application to be converted using WPT2.3sp1, allow any processing to occur then compile the application. If any errors occur when processing or compiling, the errors must be corrected before continuing.  If the existing version of the application nearly or completely fills the controller there is a slight chance that the upgraded application may not fit in the controller. After correcting any errors and successfully compiling the application, make sure that the application drawing file has been saved.  The converted application file may now be copied to and added to a project in the WorkPlace Tech Tool release 5.x.x.

Environment I/A Series G3 software installation Cause I/A Series G3 License request process for field offices on the TIP program has changed. Resolution See Product Announcement PA-00186 for details. Please note that the demo license described in this document is only available to our partner offices that participate in the TIP program.  If your office does not participate in the program, please contact your regional sales manager for more information. As noted in the license forms, the completed request should be emailed directly to our I/A Series R2/G3 license team at IASeries.License@schneider-electric.com.

Environment I/A Series R2 Enterprise Server Vykon Alarm Service Client 2.4x Vykon Alarm Service Client  3.xx Cause The Query Wizard in the VAS 2.4 system could not query record dates beyond 2010. Resolution VAS Client 2.50 -- The VAS_2.50_Client.zip file contains the VAS 2.50 Client Installer and associated Enterprise Server vas service module (vas-2.301.532.v2.jar). VAS 2.50 is for use with Enterprise Servers that utilize database management systems including Cloudscape, MSDE, Microsoft SQL, or Oracle. If currently using VAS 2.4x, upgrade to vas-2.301.532.v2 jar and VAS 2.50 client. If currently using VAS 3.xx, do not install this version. Download and upgrade to vas-2.301.532.v3.jar and VAS 3.92 client. VAS Client 3.92 -- The VAS_3.92_Client.zip file contains the VAS 3.92 Client Installer and associated Enterprise Server vas service module (vas-2.301.532.v3.jar). VAS 3.92 is for use with Enterprise Servers that utilize MSDE, Microsoft SQL, or Oracle database management systems only. VAS 3.92 Is not compatible with Cloudscape. Issue How can you determine what standard drivers are included with the basic I/A Series G3 hardware product license? Environment I/A Series G3 (Niagara) hardware License (ENS, ENC, NXT, etc.) Cause Product data sheet is not clear in regards to what license options are included with the standard basic license for an I/A Series G3 hardware products. Resolution Refer to the TAC I/A Series G3 Hardware License Request form. In the "I/A Series G3 Drivers" section of the form there is a box that contains text beginning with "Standard drivers for the xxx include".  This box lists the complete set of standard drivers included with the license for associated hardware product. For example, at the time this is written, the ENC-520 Series TAC I/A Series G3 Hardware License Request form shows the following: This box indicates that the following drivers are included with the standard license for an ENC-520. LON BACnet-IP / BACnet-Ethernet (Client only) BACnet MS/TP oBix Client / Server The ENS-1, ENC-410 and JACE-NXT have similar lists of included drivers.  Refer to the license request form for the hardware product for the list of included drivers.

Issue How can an existing Enterprise Server station be configured to run the Vykon Alarm Service (VAS)? Environment Enterprise Server Vykon Alarm Service Cause For Enterprise Server to support VAS, check the Enterprise Server shipped date to determine if part number IA-ENT-AS is required. Resolution An Enterprise Server station is already licensed to support VAS. It also includes support for two VAS clients. If additional clients are required, order part number IA-ENT-AS-C for each additional client. If the Enterprise Server was shipped before November 1, 2002, it did not include support for VAS. It must be ordered separately using part number IA-ENT-AS (which will also include support for two VAS clients). The Enterprise Server must also be upgraded to, at minimum, build r2.301.330. For more information, review R2 Worksheet (xlt) tab "ENT SVR Estimator" for additional notes on various part numbers. VAS software can be downloaded from The Exchange. Download VAS v2.4 CD Image.zip and VasPatch.zip. Unzip the CD Image for the Installation Instruction Manual. The VasPatch is installed last.

Environment MNB family controllers WorkPlace Commissioning Tool, version 5.7.2 or newer Cause Need to save the application, configuration and COV link data for an MNB-controller so that in the event the controller fails, all the information can be easily reloaded into a new controller. Resolution The Backup and Restore facility of WorkPlace Commissioning Tool allows the user to backup the complete controller application, configuration, flow balance and COV link data for a single or multiple controllers or restore of a single controller on a given network in a simple operation.  The procedures for using the Backup and Restore functions of the WPCT are included in the WorkPlace Tech Tool version 5.7.2 release notes.  The Backup and Restore documentation is available via this WorkPlace Tech Tool release 5.7.3 Release Notes from The Exchange Download Center.

Issue Getting distribution file installation (no core software) error when attempting to commission the JACE-6E.  The error states "No core software was found that can be installed to the remote host." Environment I/A Series G3, JACE-6E, TRD-J-600E Cause Attempting to install an I/A Series G3 version that is not compatible with the JACE-6E platform (e.g. versions below 3.6.47). Workbench not set up to be an installation tool (required distribution files are not available within the Workbench environment). Resolution Attempting to install an I/A Series G3 version that is not compatible with the JACE-6E platform (e.g. versions below 3.6.47). The TRD-J-600E is compatible with I/A Series G3 version 3.6.47.1 or later. The I/A Series ENS with Workbench files are available for download from The Exchange Download Center. Workbench not set up to be an installation tool (required distribution files are not available within the Workbench environment). Re-install the I/A Series G3 software and enable the checkbox that configures Workbench to be an installation tool. The checkbox indicates "This instance of TAC I/A Series Enterprise Network Server will be used as an installation tool." The distribution files related to each of the platforms will be installed on the computer.

Issue Getting an error when adding the ASD service to a Niagara R2 station Environment Niagara R2 ibsAsd driver Cause The error indicates that the serialDriver jar file has not been installed. Resolution The ibsAsd driver will not function without the serialDriver jar file. The serialDriver includes communications class files needed to support ibsAsd. To correct the issue, use the Installation Wizard in the admin tool to install the serialDriver jar. Caution: The station must have the Serial Driver installed. It is recommended that the 516b version released in July 2006 be used. The jar files as well as the ASD driver documentation (F-27429) are available for download from The Exchange Download Center

Resolution The plan is to correct this issue in the next maintenance build release. The workaround is to replace the current webUser-2.301.532.jars with the webUser-2.301.530a jars. Environment I/A Series G3 (version 3.6) Cause KitPx 'Export' button included on a canvas as part of a ReportPx.  Activating the 'Export' button causes the export to pdf to fail with the following exception ... javax.baja.sys.NoSuchSlotException: textOverride. Issue Enterprise Server not archiving to SQL Server database.  Getting the following Error in ErrorLogService:  “Failed to archive (1): tridium.datax.net.DxRemoteException: java.sql.SQLException: The incoming tabular data stream (TDS) remote procedure call (RPC) protocol stream is incorrect. Parameter 2 (""): The supplied value is not a valid instance of data type real. Check the source data for invalid values. An example of an invalid value is data of numeric type with scale greater: than precision.  The SOW displays: at tridium.datax.net.DxExchange.doResponse (bytecode 107) at tridium.datax.net.DxExchange.run (bytecode 118) at java.lang.Thread.run (line 5) Environment R2, WorkPlace Pro 2.301.529, Enterprise Server Cause NA Resolution The coreRuntime-2.301.529a.v1 jar file corrects possible issues related to the archiving of data to a Microsoft SQL 2005 database.  This jar is only required by Enterprise Servers with the IA-SQL-DBS driver feature. Installation: Stop the running station and Niagara service Locate the existing coreRuntime-2.301.529.v1.jar file (e.g. ...\nre\modules) directory.  Rename the existing file to coreRuntime-2.301.529.v1.jar.old Copy in the coreRuntime-2.301.529a.v1.jar file. Restart the Niagara service and Enterprise Server station.

ENC or Enterprise Network Server I/A Series G3 Modbus TCP communications to Modbus devices stop

Issue I/A Series G3 Modbus TCP communications to random Modbus devices randomly drop offline and stop communicating with the ENC or Enterprise Network Server.  Both the modbusCore and modbusTcp modules are at version 3.6.31. Product Line TAC IA Series Environment I/A Series G3, Modbus TCP 3.6.47 and lower Cause There were a few updates to the Modbus core and TCP modules between 3.6.31 and 3.6.47. Issue 18656 corrected communication reliability when there are a large number of Modbus TCP devices under a single ModbusTcpNetwork. Issue 19897 corrected transaction ID synchronization when a retry occurred. Issue 23578 added the ability to control the maximum transactionID used for ModbusTcp (I/A Series G3 Modbus TCP communications to Siemens Moore 353 controller stops updating after a period of time after ENC/JACE reboot or station start). Resolution Download the following modules from The Exchange Download Center: modbusCore-3.6.47.1.zip modbusTcp-3.6.47.1.zip Install to the appropriate I/A Series G3 Workbench modules folder Upgrade the modules in the ENC/JACE.

Issue ENC is licensed for Microsmart but gets error "Unlicensed: javax.baja.license.FeatureNotLicensedException: tac_llc:tacms" when attempting to access the Microsmart Network property sheet. Environment I/A Series G3, ENC-520 with TAC-LLC license installed. Cause When displaying the I/A Series G3 Platform details via the Platform Administration screen in the Workbench, the display shows the following for licensing: Licenses   Tridium.license (Tridium 3.5 - never expires)   TAC_LLC.license (TAC_LLC 3.5 - never expires) Certificates   Tridium.certificate (Tridium - never expires) This information shows that the Tridium and TAC_LLC licenses have been installed but only the Tridium certificate. The TAC_LLC license will not be recognized unless the TAC_LLC.certificate is also installed (as shown in the following platform details display. Licenses   TAC_LLC.license (TAC_LLC 3.6 - never expires)  TAC.license (Tridium 3.6 - never expires) Certificates   Tridium.certificate (Tridium - never expires)  TAC_LLC.certificate (TAC_LLC - never expires) Resolution There are two ways to resolve this issue depending on network connectivity of the G3 Workbench computer. If public ethernet connectivity is available, the licenses and certificates can be downloaded from the I/A Series G3 (Tridium) license server, using the Workbench "License Manager". Open Workbench and connect to the subject ENC. Open the Platform then select License Manager. In the License Manager, select [Import] then check "Import licenses from license server".  This process will download any available licenses for the selected device, along with any available certificates.  After the download is complete, the licenses and certificates downloaded will automatically be installed.  If public ethernet connectivity is not available or the certificate is not found, download the TAC_LLC certificate from The Exchange Download Center.  Use Workbench to import the downloaded file.

If you have previously installed the TAC_LLC.certificate in any other version of the G3 software, you can import that certificate into the version you are currently running. Open Workbench and connect to the subject ENC. Open the Platform then select License Manager. In the License Manager, select [Import] under the certificate section of the window. Browse to the "certificates" folder under any other G3 installation folder and locate the TAC_LLC.certificate file.  If the file is not found, check the "certificates" folder of another G3 folder.  Click on the TAC_LLC.certificate file name then click [OK]. The certificate will automatically be copied and installed.   If public ethernet connectivity is available or the certificate is not found, download the TAC_LLC certificate from The Exchange Download Center. Use Workbench to import the downloaded file.

ENC / JACE is licensed for MS but gets error "Unlicensed: javax.baja.license.FeatureNotLicensedException:" when attempting to access the MS Network property sheet.

Issue ENC / JACE is licensed for MS but gets error "Unlicensed: javax.baja.license.FeatureNotLicensedException:" when attempting to access the MS Network property sheet. Environment I/A Series G3, ENC-520 or JACE-645 with TAC-LLC license installed. Cause When displaying the I/A Series G3 Platform details via the Platform Administration screen in the Workbench, the display shows the following for licensing: Licenses Tridium.license (Tridium 3.5 - never expires) TAC_LLC.license (TAC_LLC 3.5 - never expires) Certificates Tridium.certificate (Tridium - never expires) This information shows that the Tridium and TAC_LLC licenses have been installed but only the Tridium certificate. The TAC_LLC license will not be recognized unless the TAC_LLC.certificate is also installed (as shown in the following platform details display. If public ethernet connectivity is available, the licenses and certificates can be downloaded from the I/A Series G3 (Tridium) license server, using the Workbench "License Manager". Open Workbench and connect to the subject ENC / JACE. Open the Platform then select License Manager. In the License Manager, select [Import] then check "Import licenses from license server".  This process will download any available licenses for the selected device, along with any available certificates.  After the download is complete, the licenses and certificates downloaded will automatically be installed.   If public ethernet connectivity is not available or the certificate is not found, download the TAC_LLC certificate from The Exchange Download Center.  Use Workbench to import the downloaded file.  A reboot of the ENC / JACE may necessary.

Environment WorkPlace Tech version 5.6 MNB Controllers Cause The WorkPlace Tech version 5.6 doesn't contain all the require Bin files to upgrade the firmware of MNB controllers to rev 1.4x. Resolution No, installing only WorkPlace Tech version 5.6 will include only the bin files current at the time of its release. Additional Bin files are needed to upgrade firmware to the latest revisions. To load all necessary Bin files, load WPTech 5.6, then download the following two self-extracting Bin files: MNB Series v1.423 Firmware Pack.exe MNB v1.41 Firmware Pack – BTL Compliant To verify the minimum necessary Bin files have been loaded, compare the following list of Bin files to your C:\Program Files\Workplace Tech\Firmware folder. The list of Bin files on the computer may be longer, depending on how Bin files have been installed since originally installing WPT 5.0. Issue Does Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) cause a problem with SIGNAL XP? Environment SIGNAL XP computer Service Pack 3 Service Pack 2 Cause Any known issues with the SP3 helps if updating is necessary. Resolution The impact of SP3 on SIGNAL XP is not known. SIGNAL XP has been field-tested with Windows XP Service Pack 2 and the only issue identified was recognition of the Security Plug (see TA06-03). No other anomalies have been observed. There are no plans to validate SIGNAL XP with this new service pack. It is recommended that all SIGNAL XP computers maintain Windows XP at service pack 2.

Issue Customer is installing a new server computer and the host operating system is Windows 7 64-bit.  Will the current version of OPRIF (Operator Interface) version 11.6 operate properly if installed? Environment DMS OPRIF 11.6 or PSOPRIF 11.6 or Operator Interface 11.6 Cause Upgrade of computer hardware and unavailability of Windows XP Resolution OPRIF 11.6 will only operate on a Windows 7 64-bit operating system with XP mode installed.
