Not possible to log on to Enterprise Server from Workstation when regional settings are Arabic or Saudi Arabia

Issue When using a Windows 7 PC with regional settings set to Arabic or Saudi Arabia it is not possible to log on to ES from Workstation Environment StruxureWare Building Operation Workstation 1.3 Cause On a Windows 7 PC with .NET 4.0 installed if the regional settings are Arabic or Saudi Arabia a user cannot log on to the Enterprise Server from Workstation. This is not a problem with Webstation. Resolution This is only an issue with Windows 7 with .NET 4.0 which is the currently supported configuration (April 2013). The solution is to upgrade to .NET 4.5 or if required use Windows XP SP3 operating system. This has been tested on released version 1.3 and also 1.3.0 SP1 (build 1.3.0.10104-SP1).

Display uptime of Automation Server

Issue How long has an Automation Server been running since the last power cycle or reboot? Environment Automation Server SmartStruxure Device Administrator Cause The uptime of an Automation Server indicates how long the server has been operational since the last power cycle or system reboot. This is not currently visible in the StruxureWare Building Operation Workstation, but it is available through the Console interface in Building Operation Device Administrator. By monitoring the uptime of the device this can be a valuable diagnostic tool to determine if power loss occurred, crashes in Automation Server occurred, or other situations that might have resulted in a reboot and what time this occurred. Resolution In the Building Operation Device Administrator connect to an Automation Server (IP or USB) and select the "Open Console" option. Once logged into the Console issue the "uptime" command in the prompt. The uptime will be listed in Days, Hours, and Minutes as visible below: admin@AS-B-RKFDMW:~> uptime  14:18:20 up 1 day,  1:01, load average: 1.26, 1.16, 1.06   If you are using Report Server, this information is also available using SQL Server Management Studio from the Report Server PC. Enter the following query and the "Runtime" column will provide the current uptime for the specified ES or AS. SELECT Top (1) CAST(CURRENT_TIMESTAMP - DateTimeStamp AS Time) AS 'Runtime' ,DateDiff(Day, DateTimeStamp, CURRENT_TIMESTAMP) AS 'Days Up' ,DateDiff(HOUR, DateTimeStamp, CURRENT_TIMESTAMP) AS 'Hours Up' ,DateDiff(MINUTE, DateTimeStamp, CURRENT_TIMESTAMP) AS 'Minutes Up' ,DateDiff(SECOND, DateTimeStamp, CURRENT_TIMESTAMP) AS 'Seconds Up' ,[DateTimeStamp] ,[TYPE] ,[OriginatedServer] ,[OriginatedDevice] ,[SystemEventId] FROM [StruxureWareReportsDB].[dbo].[tbEvents] WHERE SystemEventId = 'Server initialized' AND OriginatedServer = '/Server 1' ORDER BY DateTimeStamp Desc   NOTE: Change the WHERE statement "OriginatedServer = '/Server 1'" so that '/Server 1' become '/yourServerName'

Error entering Input conversion in b3

Issue Attempting to enter a conversion that references an object (point, PE function etc) results in error.. "Could not validate conversion formula" Environment Automation Server BACnet interface b3 device. Cause By design in SBO a point conversion can not contain references to other objects in the server. Resolution Remove the reference and substitute a hard coded value EXAMPLE: sqrt(elecvalue) * kfactor In the conversion above, 'kfactor' is an analog value in the b3, the conversion can't be validated due to the reference to kfactor. The solution is to replace 'kfactor' with its actual value sqrt(elecvalue) * 10

Binding between the "Associated value" of a BACnet output point and the "Requested value" of the digital output value, does not work.

Issue Bindings do not work. Environment Binding BACnet Output Digital Output Cause When the BACnet point changes in value, it does not change the value of the Digital output.   Resolution The StruxureWare Building Operation core architecture (as of version 1.3) allows cross server “read” references, but not cross server “write” references. This was the design from 1.0, and effects everyone – not just BACnet (ie. script programs would have the same behavior). What this means for the BACnet associated value is that inputs (which are “read” references) can be done cross server, while outputs (which are “write” references) can be only be within a single server.

Issues with BACnet alarm text.

Issue When receiving an alarm from a BACnet device, the alarm text display does not match the text entered in the SmartStruxure configuration of the alarm object. Also performing a 'Recheck' from the alarm viewer results in the alarm text fields going blank. Environment AS ES BACnet device Cause As of version 1.3 SmartStruxure uses BACnet protocol version 6, as a result of that SmartStruxure is not able to read or write the alarm text message from BACnet devices. If a device includes the text message with an alarm event SmartStruxure will use the message when displaying the alarm in the alarm viewer but on alarm re-check it will use the alarm messages in the SmartStruxure database as it’s not able to read that information from the device. When using messages from the device and performing an alarm ‘Recheck’ the alarm messages will be blank unless they are set on the SmartStruxure side. This issue will addressed by SmartStruxure In the future when BACnet protocol revision 13 is supported. Resolution To work around this issue do one of the following: Configure the BACnet device so that no text is sent with the alarm. or   Enter alarm text on the SmartStruxure side to match the text sent from the controller.

Can an automation server be installed with a backup database without the need for Workstation?

Issue Can an automation server be installed with a backup database without the need for Workstation?  For example, can a backup database be installed on a USB stick that is programmed to 'auto-run' when it is plugged into the automation server? Environment StruxureWare for Building Operations (all versions) Cause Customer works in the industrial refrigeration industry and his field personnel are primarily mechanics with limited pc knowledge.  Wants to use a stand-alone AS to control the refrigeration system.  Sites are mostly remote (several hours by car and/or flights).  Wants to send programming changes, due to site installation changes, as a self-extracting and self-installing file on a USB stick. Trying to avoid supplying the necessary laptops and Workstation training to the mechanics. Resolution This feature is not available.  Workstation is required for database administration.

StruxureWare Building Operation - When documents are edited from the system tree, on occasions any changes made can be lost.

Issue When documents are edited from the system tree, on occasions any changes made can be lost. Environment Documents Changes not saved Changes lost Cause When documents are opened from system tree, and edited, after clicking save, and closing the word document, 20-30% of the time, SmartStruxure does not prompt to save the changes to SmartStruxure and the changes are lost.   Resolution This issue has been recorded in defect 21767, and is due to be addressed in release 1.4 SP1. There are two scenarios where this issue may occur; 1 - Changing windows and minimizing. Open document  from the system tree. Switch back to Workstation and minimize the window. Close the document currently being edited. In this situation, you are not prompted to save the document, and all changes are lost.   If the Workstation is minimized, SmartStruxure will not pick up the changes to the document. 2 - The second scenario relates to the "Save" prompts presented to the user. Open document and make changes. Close the document using the X You are presented with two prompts to save the document, the first is the original document name, and the second is the name given when added to the system tree. If "Yes" is not selected to both prompts, then any changes can be lost.

b3 Scheduling

Issue b3 Schedules Environment StruxureWare Building Operation site with b3 controllers Cause What actually takes place within the system to ensure the current weeks schedule is downloaded to the controller periodically and can this be adjusted by the user? The Enterprise Server and Automation Server may not even need weekly downloads of a schedule as they are of course servers, but b3 controllers will most certainly still require some kind of period download as they can only hold one weeks schedule at any one time. Resolution B3 devices hold their entire schedule configuration. All weeks, and all exception schedule events. The entire configuration is of a schedule is written to the device when it is modified by the user. There may be several schedule objects in the b3. As such, there is no periodic download. Note that compared to Continuum which performs a default download every Saturday at midnight and updates the schedule whether needed or not.

The SEQROT object in the Network8000 integration in the AS seems to work with constant input values but not reference pointers.

Issue The SEQROT object in the Network8000 integration in the AS seems to work with constant input values but not reference pointers. Environment AS version 1.3.0 & 1.3.0 SP1 with Network8000 interface Cause After the object has been defined to use constant inputs those input values must be reset to Null before the reference inputs will be used. Resolution The Analog input constant can be returned to Null by highlighting the value it contains and clicking the delete key.  The field will be empty until a save is done.  With a digital input such as the Rotate stages constant simply highlight the value and click the delete key and it will change to Null.

Starting many trend logs at the same time!

Issue Is it a problem in StruxureWare Building Operation to start many trend logs at the same time? Environment StruxureWare Building Operation version 1.3 Cause When starting several trend logs at the same time the Servers will try to read all the logged values at the same moment which is causing a big load on the system. Resolution Starting several trends at the same time should not have a big impact on the rest of the system, and our internal thread management shall ensure that no logs are missed. But it could cause a big load on the field bus and field devices so this is something to consider.
