How do I order a BACnet MS/TP licence for an ENC-410?

Issue Needs to add two MNB-300 controllers under an ENC-410.  How do I order the license? Environment ENC-410 Cause Needs to add some MNB-300 controllers under an existing ENC-410. Resolution According to our published literature, the ENC-410 does not support BACnet MS/TP because the RS-485 port is not isolated. If it becomes absolutely necessary to license an ENC-410 for BACnet MS/TP, you must submit a written or emailed request to the I/A Series G3 product marketing manager.  The product marketing manager may approve or deny the request based on the information contained in your request.  If approved, he will provide ordering and pricing information.

Different options on the CyberStation security key

Issue What are the different options on the CyberStation security key? Product Line Andover Continuum, Pelco Environment CyberStation Cause Documentation Resolution NOTE: These are the options used to program a security key but not necessarily what shows when a key is read using MMC key reader. For example when a key is programmed for FIPS-201 it does NOT show the -F when the key information is read using MMC key reader, one way to know if FIPS-201 is enabled is to look at the Allowed Credentials setting in the Cyberstation, the FIPS credential options will be blank if the Cyberstation key is not enabled for FIPS-201 CyberStation: SU-INT           Single User Integrated SU-HVAC      Single User HVAC SU-SEC        Single User Security LAN-INT        LAN Integrated LAN-HVAC   LAN HVAC LAN-SEC      LAN Security   CyberStation Options: -U                    Unlimited Points -P                    Programmer’s Version -B                    Badging Option -CFRB 1            Basic CFR Compliance Pack – 1 st Workstation -CFRBV 1         Basic CFR Compliance Pack – 2 nd Workstation & up -CFRA 1            Advanced CFR Compliance Pack – 1 st Workstation -CFRAV 1         Advanced CFR Compliance Pack – 2 nd Workstation & up -D                    Data Exchange Option – includes Personnel Import Utility -E 2, 3                 Endura integration option -F 1, 2                 FIPS 201 option -USB 4              USB Key   1    Option requires special approval before it can be enabled. 2    Option only available through software upgrade process; cannot be ordered with new P/N configurations. 3    New option introduced in v1.91; required per workstation for integration with a Pelco Endura system. Currently this is free as of 8/2/14 but needs a cookie       from repair for this option to work 4    USB Key Option is mandatory for new orders Note: The Continuum version number of a key, allows it to operate with all Cyberstation versions up to that release.

Issue Getting the error “Class not found exception: com.microsoft.sqlserver:jdbt.sqlserverdriver” when attempting the convert a Cloudscape database to SQL 2005 in the Niagara R2 console window. Environment Niagara R2, WorkPlace Pro version 529 and higher, Windows SQL 2005 Cause The wrong command was entered in the Niagara Command Line window (the console). The following was entered at the prompt: “dbadmin station_name m cs ms host_IP:TCP_port username password”. The “ms” portion of the command is used with SQL versions prior to SQL 2005. The “ms” portion of the command line should read “msj”, which SQL 2005 requires. Resolution Open the console and re-enter the correct migration command. 1. Open the console window 2. Type the following in the Command Line: dbadmin "station_name" m cs msj host_IP:TCP_port# username password 3. Enter The database migration should be displayed in the console window.

FIPS and webclient is not supported

Issue Where can the FIPS fields be added to be accessed by webclient browsers? Environment Webclient FIPS Cause The question comes up asking if there is a way to add in the FIPS field to be accessed by webclient and it is not FIPS compliant Resolution Webclient is not FIPS compliant at this time. See page 15, item 8 in the Product Announcement FIPS 201 Solution   Additional Notes: In order to be FIPS compliant there is a middleware software piece that is part of the FIPS standard. The middleware company that we partnered with is called ImageWare and their product EpiBuilder integrates with Cyberstation. The integration doesn't currently run on a browser platform. If a site doesn't require FIPS then you would be able to add personnel through webclient, adding card numbers and areas, etc. Badge creation would still need to be done at a Cyberstation though since the ImageWare (EpiBuilder) application integration is used to create the badges.

Changing the default community password in Netcontrollers

Issue The question is sometimes is asked if the default passwords (community strings) for Public and Private can be changed in Netcontrollers Environment Netcontrollers (BCX, 9680, 99xx) Cause Sites want to change the default Community strings for better security Resolution The option to change the community string password is only available if the controller is enabled for snmp alarming. If the controller is at the default with only snmp access to be shown in a Network Management System, the ability to change the default community string name is not available. In that case, the default community strings passwords have to be used. Once the snmp alarming options is enabled on the controller then the following instructions can be used. There is a place in the configuration page of the Netcontroller called snmp alarm configuration. On that page there are options for the snmp communities (public/private) for Gets and Sets. There are fields there with the default passwords of ‘Public’ for Gets and ‘Private’ for Sets. These can be changed to an 8 character word. This password would then need to be matched within the Network Management Software (NMS) to do the gets and sets. See page 19 of Andover Continuum v1.9 SNMP Configuration Guide for information on setting these passwords.

Is there a way to have the Date of Birth field in the Personnel Manager only display the date and not the time?

Issue The Personnel Manager displays both the date and the time in the Date of Birth field. The main problem is that when adding the Data of Birth field to the badge layout, it has both when only the date is desired. Environment CyberStation Personnel Manager Badge Layout Cause The default display of the Date of Birth field in the Personnel manager includes the date and time. The date only is preferred.   Resolution The data display in the personnel manager does not appear to be changeable. However, there is a way to change the Badge Layout. The following worked in v1.93: In Make/Edit Badge select Edit Badge Layout. Double click on DateOfBirth dynamic text field. Select the Text tab. Select the dropdown for 'Format for date/time fields" and select MMMM dd, yyyy. Select OK and save the badge layout. Do a print preview to check. The above did not work in v1.91 at one site so they opted to create a Custom String Attribute under the Personnel Class and just enter the date.

Badge printer is printing blank credentials.

Issue Badge printer is printing blank credentials. Environment EPI Builder CyberStation Personnel Credentials Access Cards Cause This site has two card printers called BadgePrinter_1 and BadgePrinter_2. When the first badging workstation is busy printing badges on the default badge printer BadgePrinter_1, the second badging workstation has to use BadgePrinter_2.  When the printer selection is changed, the printer selected in EPI Builders Page Setup becomes BadgePrinter_2. When Windows asks the user if they want to save these settings, the Page Layout will retain BadgePrinter_2 in it's configuration.  This becomes a problem when subsequent badges are printed to the default printer BadgePrinter_1 since the page setup is set to print the badge to BadgePrinter_2. Resolution Either the printer settings must be managed more deliberately, or different default badge printers must be dedicated to each badge printing workstation.

Is there a way to output the average of logged values contained within the I/A Series G3 history records?

Issue Is there a way to output the average of logged values contained within the I/A Series G3 history records? Environment I/A Series G3 Cause I/A Series G3 history tables contain records of values logged by the associated trend objects.  A BQL query must be used to read records from the table and perform a calculation to average the values. Resolution A program object that contains a BQL query can be used to read the records from a history table and calculate minimum, maximum, average, etc. The AX community module contains a BQL object (Trend Dynamic Analyzer) that can be assigned to a history ord and configured to a particular timeframe. A new trend with a specific number of records (rolling) can be queried by this object which in turn calculates the Count, Min, Max, Average, and Sum. The axCommunity module contains a library of useful objects for the Tridium Niagara AX platform created by AX programmers.  Download the axCommunity module from the following website - http://sourceforge.net/projects/niagaraaxcommun/. Note: Schneider Electric does not maintain and is not responsible for the content within the axCommunity module. The user should test and utilize at their discretion and risk. Copy the axCommunity.jar file into the Workbench platform (modules folder).  Install into the target platform as needed. Open the axCommunity palette and add a TrendDynamicAnalyzer object into the station. View the TrendDynamicAnalyzer property sheet and then assign the History using the History Ord Chooser. Connect an Interval Trigger if a time based refresh of the values is required. You may want to limit the values at the output if the values trended by the history can get out of range (e.g. initialization, etc.).

In a Niagara R2 Modbus integration, the 4 view changes cached by the JDE cannot be modified

Issue In Chapter 5 of the Niagara R2 Modbus integration manual, the following note describes the JDE "View Cache": ... After viewing linked Gx objects in JDE, polling will continue for the associated shadow objects in PollOnDemand containers until that view is removed from the view cache. Typically, this means 4 view changes before polling stops... In an effort to reduce the number of shadow objects being polled (on a large job), can the 4 view changes, that are cached, be reduced to zero? Product Line TAC IA Series Environment Niagara R2 Modbus Cause The 4 view changes are by design. Resolution There is no way to configure the number of view changes or manually clear the cache.  Closing the JDE and re-opening it is the only way to stop the values from updating.

Will Niagara G3 integrate to a lighting system by Lutron?

Issue A job site has a Lutron lighting system called the GRAFIK Eye QS.  It comes with a network interface with model number QSE-CI-NWK-E.  Will this allow the system to integrate to Niagara G3? Environment Niagara G3 Cause Lighting system installed on a jobsite and end customer would like to integrate to the building automation system (Niagara G3). Resolution The Lutron network interface QSE-CI-NWK-E provides an interface to a Windows-based platform via a RS-232 or TCP/IP connection.  It is a "text-based" interface meaning commands are sent via a terminal program like HyperTerminal. In order to interface the GRAFIK Eye QS to Niagara, the FlexSerial Driver can be used.  This driver can be configured to communicate to a wide range of "simple" serial communicating devices.  It allows the user to model the native device messages like framing details and payload content. The part number for the FlexSerial drive is ENC-DRV-FLEX.  It is an option for the ENC-520, Jace-6, Jace-7, and Jace-Nxt.

Attempting to send email with I/A Series G3 and the SMTP server responds with an error "Must issue a STARTTLS command first."

Issue Attempting to send email with I/A Series G3 and the SMTP server responds with an error "Must issue a STARTTLS command first." Environment I/A Series G3 Cause The targeted SMTP server requires an SSL / TLS encrypted connection.  SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) allows for the encryption of HTTP traffic between an ENC/ENS and a remote client. Encryption of the Fox and Platform protocol is not supported.  This implementation is supported with G3 versions 3.3 and above.  SSL can also be used to connect to a SSL enabled SMTP mail server to protect email credentials and the email message being transmitted.  Using SSL with SMTP is supported on version 3.4.55, 3.5.5, 3.6.31 or later.  As always it is recommended to use the latest maintenance build for each version of Niagara G3. Resolution The I/A Series G3 platform currently supports SSL encryption only.  Requires purchase of the crypto feature IA-SSL that adds the following line to the base license. Contact Customer Care at 888-444-1311 to order (Part Number IA-SSL).  The Host ID for the ENC/ENS must be provided on the associated license form with the order.  The following feature will be added to the license. crypto ssl="true", parts="IA-SSL" Install Updated License - Once the updated license is received, install the license into the ENC / ENS using Workbench.  Do not reboot when asked, you will reboot after updating the Crypto module. Install Crypto module - Use the Software Manager in the Platform to install the crypto module.  Allow the ENC to reboot. Install Crypto Service - Add Crypto Service to Services folder. Configure Web Service (Only do this if you plan on using SSL with the Web Server).  Enable the Https Enabled property.  Change the Http Port to an unpublished port, such as 31876. This is required to prevent users from using HTTP logon.  Do not enable HTTPS Only.   This will cause the Fox Protocol not to function. Configure Outgoing Mail Server (Only if SSL is required for email).  Configure as normal, except use SSL port for the port number and enable the Use Ssl property.  Contact your email provider for proper hostname and port number for SSL.
