How to apply individual setpoints in EBO when a User is granted access at a Door.

Issue Require a method on how to apply individual setpoints in EBO when Users are granted access at a Security Expert  Door. Product Line EcoStruxure Security Expert, EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Security Expert EcoStruxure Building Operation Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support Services for assistance. Cause An example of this would be to have room temperature setpoints, or other specific settings, be changed when specific Users are granted access to a room or area. One method on how to do this would be to create a separate Access Level and Access Level Output for each user. When the User with that Access Level is granted access the associated output will be enabled. Using the EWS integration, the states of these virtual outputs can then be monitored within EBO and action were taken when they change state. Resolution Perform the following steps to configure this: Create an Access Level for each User object. Create a virtual output for each User object. A virtual output is an output object that is not assigned to an output expanders physical outputs. You could create outputs on existing expanders above the maximum output channel that you will be using but it is recommended putting these virtual outputs on a completely different module address outside the range that will be used for any physical modules. Module address = 32 would be a recommended starting value. Steps would be: Under Programming | Outputs create three new outputs. Set Module Type to "Output (PX)" Set module address to "32" or greater. Set Module Output to "1", "2", "3", etc... Save the changes. For each of the Access Levels add the corresponding virtual output to the Access Levels Output tab. Access Level OutputsAccess Level Outputs Ensure the Access Level has access to the Door(s) in question. Set the Time to Activate (seconds) in the Access Level | General tab to something appropriate such as 5s. The output will disable after this time period. Set the Reader Access Activates Output on the Access Level. Set Activate Access Level Output on the Reader Expander | Misc Options.

Moving an Energy Expert database to a new server

Issue An Energy Expert system is being moved to a new server and/or the virtual image is being upgraded. The historical records held in the SQL database of the Power Monitoring Expert (PME) system need to be backed up and properly restored on to the new server. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment EcoStruxure Energy Expert (formally Power Manager) Power Monitoring Expert (PME) Enterprise Server Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support Services for assistance. Cause The system administrator has deemed it necessary to upgrade the Windows server that the Energy Expert system is installed on for security and/or resource reasons. Resolution It is important to remember that an Energy Expert installation is really just two Schneider Electric offers, EcoStruxure Building Operation and Power Monitoring Expert, installed together and set up to pass information back and forth. This means that appropriate steps must be followed for each system to backup the historical data and properly restore it on the new server. For more detail regarding how the system is laid out, please see the Difference between EcoStruxure Energy Expert (Power Manager) and Power Monitoring Expert (PME). Steps to move an Energy Expert database Backup the Power Monitoring Expert (PME) SQL database, dashboards and reports. The Configuration Manager tool available on the Exchange can be used to back all of these items up automatically. Run the tool on the existing server and it will create a zip file to be used later on when restoring to the new server. See Migrating a PME 8.0 System to a New Server for more information. The Schneider Electric Technical FAQs website also contains many other helpful troubleshooting articles for PME including different versions of the product. Return the Energy Expert license(s) from the Floating License manager in order to move them to the new server. For more information see Video: Licensing Guide for Power Monitoring Expert (PME) 8.x and 7.2.x and ENM 8.3.x. If moving the Enterprise Server, make a historical backup of the EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO) ES from the existing server. See Backup of StruxureWare/EcoStruxure Building Operation AS and ES for more information. If the Enterprise Server and other EBO licenses are installed on the existing server, then they may need to be returned as well so they can be moved to the new server. See Removing a Local License or Returning a Network License for more information. Next the ETL project files must be retrieved and saved so they can be moved to the new server (if using architecture 1 in the Energy Expert offer). Go to the file location below and save all ETL project files that are needed on the new server. C:\Program Files > Schneider Electric > ETL X.X (SBO to PME) > Jobs If moving the Enterprise Server, install the EBO software on the new server, rehost the EBO licenses, and restore the EBO server backup(s). See Restoring the EcoStruxure BMS Server for more information. Install the Energy Expert software (the software includes PME, ETL and the integration utility). The information on how to download the Energy Expert software can be found on the Exchange. Once the software has been installed, the Energy Expert license can be hosted to the new server in the Floating License manager. Next, install the PME Configuration Manager tool on the new server. The zip file from step 1 can be loaded using this tool to restore the SQL database, PME dashboards and PME reports. Add the previously saved ETL project files to the same location on the new server C:\Program Files > Schneider Electric > ETL X.X (SBO to PME) > Jobs Since the server has changed, the configuration settings must be updated in the ETL projects to reflect the new server name. The settings in the EWS interface on the EBO server will also need to be updated as well. Note: It may be easier to delete the existing EWS interface in EBO and then use the integration utility to create a new XML import file to simply rebuild the interface.

Mass importing User Photos into Security Expert using Data Sync Service

Issue Need a method for mass importing User photos for creating / updating the Users for a Security Expert site. Product Line Security Expert Environment Security Expert Security Expert Data Sync Service (SX-DB-SYNC) Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support for assistance. Cause Data Sync Service is typically used to import data from the third party system.  In this instance, a CSV file containing the data to be imported into the Security Expert database is used. The Data Sync Service is configured to monitor the folder where this CSV file is located and automatically (if configured) import the relevant data into Security Expert, creating records (including users, access levels, areas, doors, schedules, and so on) for each matched entity. Resolution The Data Sync Service can be used to map specific fields from a CSV file to fields within Security Expert. One of those fields can be the User photos. Below is a guide on how to implement this.   1. Directory Setup Before opening the Security Expert Data Sync Service, it is necessary to setup a CSV file and directory for the Data Sync Service to work with. The only requirement for now is that each image must have a unique name and that the folder housing the images must be called "Photos". Figure 1 shows an example folder structure: Note: The names of the folder, CSV file and image names are not critical. As long as the image names match what is in the CSV file.   2. CSV File A CSV file is a comma separated file with each row being a separate record and columns (fields) separated by comma's. An example CSV is shown below:   UniqueID,FirstName,LastName,AccessLevel,PIN 101,First,User,Visitor,1284 102,Second,User,Visitor,5618 Note: The UniqueID field will need to be the file name of the Users image. For the below example CSV, two images must be present in /Photos/ with the names 101.jpg and 102.jpg.   3. Security Expert Operator It is recommended that a new Security Expert Operator is added for importing from the Data Sync Service. This ensures that records that have been added / modified / deleted by the Data Sync Service can easily be identified. To proceed past the Data Target section the Show PIN numbers for Users option must be enabled in the Operator object.   4. Data Target Now that an Operator, directory and CSV have been set up, open Security Expert Data Sync Service and follow these steps: Select Security Expert from the Target System dropdown. Confirm the SOAP Server Address. If the defaults were accepted during the installation of the SOAP Service, enter http://localhost:8030/SecurityExpertSOAPService/service.svc. Enter the Username of an Operator. Enter the Password for that Operator. From the Site dropdown, select the Site that the records are to be imported to. All Sites that have been added in Security Expert will be available in the dropdown. Overwrite the Site ID during the field mapping process if the records are imported to different Sites within a single import. Note: The rest of the fields on the Configuration window are disabled until a valid Server Address, Username and Password have been entered.   5. Sync Options Set the Resynchronize Every time to a time interval over which the service should resync data. Tick the Enable Error Log checkbox to populate the Event Viewer with events that will make error solving simpler.  6. Data Mapping  Configure the records and import file with the following steps. Select Users from the Record to Sync drop-down.  In the File Directory field, enter the created folder. If importing a single file, enter the name of the file in the Import File field. If the checkbox is left unticked, all files in the File Directory will be imported. From the File Format drop-down, select Delimited. If the import file is a CSV, select {CR}{LF} as the Row and {Comma} as Column delimiters. Enable the option to Start Import At Row 2 to skip the header.    7. Field Mapping The data mapping phase allows CSV columns (Source Column) to be mapped to a record type in the Security Expert Database (Target Field). To import the example CSV, the field mapping must be configured as below. Link a Target Field and Source Column, simply select both in the interface, complete the following: Link the following [Target Field : Source Column]: ImageID : 1, First Name : 2, Last Name : 3, UserAccessLevelGroupDataData > UserAccessLevel : 4 PINNumber : 5, Select ImageID (Column 1) as the Unique Field. For UserAccesLevel, open the Advanced Data Configuration by clicking the [ … ] button. Ensure that Use This Field As The Group Data Identifier is set and Grouping Type is Singular Data. Ensure Target Field Record Type is ticked and set to Access Levels. Click Save and then Start to begin the syncing of Users. 8. Troubleshooting If troubleshooting is required, examine the following logs: All Events - In Security Expert under Monitoring > Status Page View, open the All Events view to view Data Sync Service events. Event Viewer - Open the Windows Event Viewer and navigate to Event Viewer > Applications and Services Logs > Schneider Electric Security Expert event log.

"Could not create remote directory" or "Failed to establish connection with the target device" when upgrading/downgrading a Xenta 5/7/9xx

Issue Error: "Could not create remote directory" or "Failed to establish connection with the target device" when trying to upgrade/downgrade a Xenta 5/7/9xx controller     Product Line TAC INET, TAC Vista, Satchwell MicroNet Environment Xenta Servers Xenta 511, 527, 527-NPR, 555, 701, 711, 721, 731, 913 XBuilder Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support for assistance. Cause This error can be caused by any of the following reasons: Trying to downgrade a Hardware version 2.x Xenta Server device to System Program version 2.10 or older Internet Options are configured to use a proxy server IP communication is not properly established due to incorrect IP settings, a bad cable or a faulty device The controller is 5.1.8 or lower and Microsoft KB 2661254 or KB 2661254-V2 is installed on the PC. In this upgrade Microsoft has changed the criteria for the certificate Key. Service packs are available on the extranet to correct this issue. Download blocked because of other Windows updates SSL 2 and 3 is not activated Resolution First, establish that the System Program that you are attempting to load is compatible with hardware version of the device. The older HW 1 versions can be upgraded to System Program 5.1.2 or older. Only system program versions 2.2.0 and newer can be loaded into devices that are hardware version 2.X. Hardware Version System Program 1.0 5.1.2 or older 2.X 2.2.0 or newer 3.X 5.1.6 SP1 or newer Note: Hardware version 1 devices are not labeled as HW 1 since only one version of hardware existed at the time. Hardware devices can be identified by the lack of any hardware version printed on the Neuron ID sticker. Note: If running the firmware update software, ensure you are running as an administrator. Next, check to verify that IP communications are configured properly and are functional: Check the IP address defined in XBuilder Verify a good connection to the IP port of the controller (10Base-T port on the far right) with a crossover cable. If that is all good, then a reformat of the controller may be necessary. Connect via Hyperterminal to the unit and at the dsh> prompt type format and press enter command . This will recreate the directory structure of the controller and allow you to attempt the upgrade/downgrade again. Finally, verify that the Internet Options are not configured to use a proxy server or, if they are, temporarily change them as follows: To temporarily change this setting follow these steps: In Internet Explorer select the Tools Menu and select Internet Options. Or select Internet Options from your Control Panel. Go to the Connections tab. Click the LAN settings button. Uncheck the Use a proxy server for your LAN box. Click Ok in the LAN settings window and the Internet Options window. Complete the System Program download. Return to the Internet Options window and re-check the Use a proxy server for your LAN box in the LAN Settings found in the Connections tab. Another Matrix explaining the compatibility of each with Vista versions can be found in Xenta-Server-firmware-versus-Vista-Server-versions If you have the Xenta FW 5.1.8 or lower and KB 2661254 or KB 2661254-V2 were installed during a Windows Update you will need install the service packs. These new service pack builds have been released and are available on the extranet. See TPA-VSTA-12-0028.00 - TAC Xenta Servers, Not Possible to Download Firmware for more info. Another issue has been reported to support relating to the bit length of the Xenta server boot certificate. The Xenta server installer uses a 512 bit key length of the boot certificate, and Windows in some instances can be configured for a 1024 bit length certificate. If the issue still exists after removing the above mentioned Windows Updates, or if you are getting this error and the Windows Updates are not on your machine. Download the attached tool, Allow Weak Certificates.zip, and execute the file, chose "Allow Weak Certificates", and "Update".   Here is what the tool set: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\OID\EncodingType 0\CertDllCreateCertificateChainEngine\Config] "EnableWeakSignatureFlags"=dword:00000002 "minRSAPubKeyBitLength"=dword:00000200 If taking the preceding steps fails to resolve the issue then see the following articles for additional steps that can be taken: Xenta Server "Run" light is solid red, with no communication via Ethernet,  Fail to upgrade the TAC Xenta Server system software (firmware)  An unexpected error occurred while downloading using a Xenta Server

Problem renaming ES or adding SmartX server to ES

Issue When trying to add a SmartX server to an ES, or when trying to rename an ES, you see the following error message: "All subserver must be online at least once before adding" Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Enterprise Server (version 2.0 or later) Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support for assistance. Cause This issue is caused by a mismatch between the content in the folders called MountPoints and Versions in the ES database folder. Resolution Before doing this make sure you have a good backup of the ES database. Identify and delete the files in the ES database folder called Versions which don't have representation in the ES database folder called MountPoints. The files have the same GUID-name in both folders, but not the same content, so you cannot copy paste between the folders. It requires a manual comparison. Procedure to identify files to remove (for version 2.0): 1. Check files in C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric EcoStruxure\Building Operation 2.0\Enterprise Server\db\System\MountPoints 2. Check files in C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric EcoStruxure\Building Operation 2.0\Enterprise Server\db\System\Versions 3. In Versions only remove the files which don't have a representation in MountPoints. Comparing the files in MountPoints (1) to the ones in Versions (2 & 3). Here they are identical and all is OK.Comparing the files in MountPoints (1) to the ones in Versions (2 & 3). Here they are identical and all is OK.

Changing Security Expert readers from RS-485 to Wiegand

Issue A Security Expert reader that supports Wiegand and RS-485 is wired for Wiegand. It is not working. It only works on RS-485. Product Line Security Expert Environment Security Expert Smart Card Readers which support both 125Khz and 13.56Mhz (SX-DRD-xx, SX-DRK-xx, SX-RK-xx) Warning Hazard of Electric Shock: Remove all power from all devices before removing any covers or doors of the system. Disconnect power at the device and at the power source. Electrostatic Discharge Required: Always discharge static electricity from your person by touching metal prior to handling any hardware. Failure to do so may result in damage to devices. Cause Tried to use a Smart Card Reader wired for Wiegand after it had been connected by RS-485 to the controller. Resolution Once a Security Expert Smart Card Reader is used in an RS-485 configuration it will not work in Wiegand configuration until it has been re-programmed with a configuration card designed for that purpose. The configuration card  (SX-ISO-CONFIG) must be purchased through Schneider Electric. See the Security Expert Credentials Order Form for details.   This is because RS-485 is a two-way communication, intelligent wiring protocol. Once the reader is set in this two-way communication mode there is currently no way, without the configuration card, to go back to a less intelligent one-way mode like Wiegand.   Note: Readers manufactured in 2017 or before may have a firmware version that uses a configuration mode that will not respond to a configuration card. If you contact Schneider Electric for a configuration card, supply the serial number (SN) from the back of the reader on your request.

Locating the SP-C in the middle of the RS-485 daisy chain.

Issue Are there restrictions on the location of the SP-C on the RS-485 bus? Product Line Security Expert Environment Security Expert Controller (SP-C, SP-AC1, SP-ACX, SP-C-WEB) Security Expert Expander Modules Warning Hazard of Electric Shock: Remove all power from all devices before removing any covers or doors of the system. Failure to do so may result in damage to devices. Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support for assistance. Cause The SP-C Installation Manual shows the SP-C as the first device in a standard network communication connection.  Locating the Security Expert controller in the middle of the RS-485 bus will reduce the amount of cable required. Resolution You can put the controller in any position on the RS-485 chain. Ensure you use the correct cable type, the overall length does not exceed 900 meters (3000 feet) and the two ends are correctly terminated with EOL resistors. Refer to the Encrypted Module Network section in the SP-C Installation Manual - System Controller for more details.

SP-C Controllers randomly going offline

Issue SP-C Controllers randomly going offline / online.  Restarting the controller resolves the issue for a short period of time. SP-C Controller ports showing TIME_WAIT when a netstat command is run. Product Line EcoStruxure Security Expert Environment Security Expert Controller (SP-C) Warning Hazard of Electric Shock: Remove all power from all devices before removing any covers or doors of the system. Disconnect power at the device and at the power source. Electrostatic Discharge Required: Always discharge static electricity from your person by touching metal prior to handling any hardware. Failure to do so may result in damage to devices. Cause Under normal conditions an SP-C needs to update the Security Expert Server with new data. During this time the IP Socket of the SP-C is in a Waiting State, refusing to communicate to anyone else while waiting for an opportunity to upload. Once the controllers data has been uploaded to the server however the controller releases the IP Socket and it is open again to new communication. In an extremely small number of cases the SP-C controller goes into this waiting state as usual but then never comes out of that state, holding onto the IP Socket forever and blocking any further communication until the controller is power reset. This only affects a very small percentage of SP-C controllers running Microsoft Windows CE OS Version 16. Resolution In these extremely rare cases the first step is to identify if the affected controllers are indeed running OS Version16.  For SP-C Firmware builds before 2.08.921 Log into the controllers configuration web page. Browse to the Configuration tab. Check the OS Version field at the bottom of the page. For SP-C Firmware build 2.08.921 and above the OS is now shown in a different location.   Once it is clear, that the OS is version 16, Product Support can be contacted to arrange to upgrade the controller OS to Version 20 (or greater) as is found in SP-C controllers shipping now. As this is a high risk procedure and can result in complete failure of the controller if anything goes wrong there are two options for upgrading the OS. Install the affected controller on a test bench with remote access for Product Support to remote in to and perform the update. Have the controller sent back to the factory to be updated and returned to site. Both options will require replacing the controller with temporary stock while the upgrade is being performed.

Cannot Shrink SQL Transaction Log

Issue After switching the recovery model from Full to simple, the shrink task fails to shrink the transaction log file. Product Line Continuum Environment Continuum Microsoft SQL Server Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support for assistance. Cause A transaction log cannot be shrunken while there is a process actively accessing the log file. Resolution Use the log_reuse_wait_desc function in a SQL query to help you identify the process that is preventing the shrinking of the transaction log. Open SQL Server Management Studio.  Click on the New Query button. In the query window type the following SQL statement: SELECT log_reuse_wait_desc FROM sys.databases WHERE name = 'ContinuumDB' Note: The name in single quotes should be the name of the Continuum Database. In some cases, it may have been changed to something other than "ContinuumDb." This query will return one or more of the following keywords.  Each of the following keywords indicates a transaction log process that is taking place. Here is a list of keywords that could be returned. NOTHING CHECKPOINT LOG_BACKUP ACTIVE_BACKUP_OR_RESTORE ACTIVE_TRANSACTION DATABASE_MIRRORING REPLICATION DATABASE_SNAPSHOT_CREATION LOG_SCAN OTHER_TRANSIENT For example, if this query were to return REPLICATION, this would indicate that the replication process has control of the transaction log.  In that case you might investigate the replication configuration or perhaps even turn replication off temporarily to successfully shrink the log. You can find a detailed description for what each keyword indicates by searching the following website Eight Reasons Transaction Log Files Keep Growing

Trouble installing PCT successfully.

Issue PCT does not run properly following installation. Product Line EcoStruxure Building Operation Environment Building Operation Project Configuration Tool (PCT) Warning Potential for Data Loss: The steps detailed in the resolution of this article may result in a loss of critical data if not performed properly. Before beginning these steps, make sure all important data is backed up in the event of data loss. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with any complex steps detailed in this article, please contact Product Support for assistance. Cause Certain environmental settings may need to be adjusted in order to successfully install PCT. These settings are not described in the Project Configuration Reference Guide. Resolution If you have issues successfully running PCT after installation, check the following items: Enable Virtual Hardware Acceleration in BIOS Use this tool to check if virtual hardware acceleration is already enabled on your PC: Intel: https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/processors/processor-utilities-and-programs/intel-processor-identification-utility.html AMD: https://support.amd.com/en-us/search/utilities?k=virtualization Disable all Ethernet Adapters except the one in use (Only applies to Server Mode): It may be necessary to check Windows Device Manager for hidden network adapters Disable the Windows firewall Disable Anti-Virus Software A true local account may be needed to install and/or run PCT due to Group Policy or other factors. Use Run as Administrator for both installing and running PCT Note: You can right-click the PCT icon, open properties, select the “Compatibility” tab, and check the box “Run this program as an administrator” Test PCT by opening up the software application, creating a project, creating a server, and opening it up in WorkStation If PCT opens and works then enable Windows firewall and Anti-Virus program. - User may need to allow PCT in Windows firewall and PCT utilize port 9091 as default. - User may need to add exceptions within Anti-Virus software settings. On the Header toolbar, click the Export project button or right-click on the project and select "Export". On the Export selected project(s) dialog box, in the Folder box, browse to the folder on your hard drive where you want to save the exported project. Click OK. TIP: You can select multiple projects and export all of them at once. Note: In order to be more future proof, there is a new export/import format of PCT projects starting in PCT v1.3.2 with exports having an extension of '.pct_export'.  Projects exported at an earlier version have an extension of '.ppb' and they must be converted to '.pct_export' files before import into PCT v1.3.2.    Please refer to point 2.1 in the release notes.   Also prior to PCT v1.3.2 the project had to be stopped before export was possible.  In PCT v1.3.2 the project has to be running before it can be exported.
