Use local CPH on a stand-alone MR-VAV-AX

Issue How to make local CPH work on a stand-alone MR-VAV-AX. Environment MR-VAV-AX Cause Even after you select local-CPH in the parameters and connect a contact to the local cph point, the unit probably won't switch modes without further modification. The application is looking for a zero for one mode and something above 1 for the other. Problem is that the factory calibration of the inputs can only be done to within 1 or 2 counts. With the standard conversion coefficient of 5 and 0, you'll still see a value of 5 or 10 for a shorted input. Changing the conversion coefficient wouldn't help because you need an absolute zero. Resolution Even though this is for stand-alone use, you need to connect the unit to an MCI or ISITE Lan. You can leave the address at 0 and set address 0 to MR or ASC in the MCU configuration. Open the ASC editors and update MCI for address 0 and check the point value for local cph with that input shorted. If it doesn't read 0, proceed. Next select Edit, Controller, MR functions. Highlight 0 and hit the Hardware button. These M and Bs are here as a result of the factory calibration. Reduce the B on input 02 (3rd entry down) by one or 2 or even 3 so that the local cph input reads 0 when shorted. When your done with the first one, you can plug in the rest and use the same MCI database provided you leave them all at 0.

Single-pushbutton, Dual-pushbutton and Latched Lighting Zones

Issue What is the difference between Single-pushbutton, dual-pushbutton and latched in a lighting zone? Environment I/NET Seven Lighting Zone Controller Cause Programming lighting controls offers zone options for after hours override. Resolution Single-pushbutton is used when a momentary spring-loaded button is required. You push a button and a closed contact (1) is made. Releasing the button results in a open contact (0) and starts the zone. Dual-pushbutton is a two button switch. Pressing one button gives you a closed contact (1). Pressing another button results in a closed contact (0) on the second input and the zone is turned off. Latched is for when you have a light switch. Flip a switch and it stays on (1). Flip it the other way (0) and it turns off.

Correlate which output relays go with which resident I/O addresses in the 7780

Issue Correlate which output relays go with which resident I/O addresses in the 7780 Environment 7780 Lighting Controller Resident I/O Editor Cause Wiring diagrams and software designations need to line up for proper lighting control. Resolution On the 7780 the first matrix card controls the bottom eight on each side of the controller giving you your first 16 relays. The bottom front relay on the right side is your first relay. The relay directly behind it is the second relay. This continues up the right side of the controller till you reach the eighth relay, then the numbering jumps to the front bottom left relay and continues with relay number nine. The first relay will be circuit 0000. The second relay will be 0001 and so on. Till you reach 0007. Relay nine will be 0100, ten will be 0101, etc..

Difference between DPU EPROM rev 2.21 and 2.22

Issue What are the differences between DPU EPROM rev 2.21 and 2.22? Environment DPU EPROM Cause On the 2.22 rev, one problem was corrected and an enhancement included. Resolution The problem was when using first key auto-unlock, the software would show the door as unlocked, when the first valid read had not yet unlocked it. It now remains in the secure mode in software until the first valid read. The enhancement is that when a DPU is operating on back up battery power, the power led will now flicker to indicate the change from commercial power.

What effects do processor loading have on controller communications and operation?

Issue What effects do processor loading have on controller communications and operation? Environment I/NET controllers Cause Knowing the potential consequences of overloading the processor will help with network design and controller selection. Resolution If the processor hits 100% during the time that controller receives the token on the LAN, the controller will ignore the LAN in favor of continued operation of the equipment connected to it. If the processor gets overloaded with too many tasks to perform at once, it will buffer the commands to executed. Therefore, the worst that should happen is that an event or calculation will be performed late or delayed but everything should still happen in the intended sequence order.

Troubleshooting analog inputs on I/NET controllers

Issue An analog input reads the wrong value. Is it the controller or the sensor? Product Line TAC INET Environment Analog inputs on I/NET controllers Cause Determining where the problem originates - a failed sensor or a bad input - will help arrive at a solution faster. Resolution Open the conversion coefficient calculator Set the high and low values for counts and units to configure the input to show raw voltage input.  Let it enter that result into an open entry in the CC table. On a 7716/7718/7728 or 7756 upper board: Enter 0 for counts low and 4095 for counts high, 0 for units low and 5 for units high On the lower board of the 7756: Enter 0 for counts low and 65535 for counts high, 0 for units low and 10 for units high.  On an MR-88 or 632: Enter 0 for counts low and 255 for counts high On an MR-55 or an ASC: Enter 0 for counts low and 255 for counts high, units low 1.5 and units high 4. If this is a DPU, DIO or DIU, this does not apply to this situation. Select that conversion coefficient for the input in question and make sure there is no look up table for it. The input will now show the measured voltage for that input. Read that voltage on the actual input with a meter and compare to the reading on the screen, viewcon or HHC. If the readings match, the problem is the sensor, your conversion coefficient, or your look up table. If not, the problem is in the controller. Refer to other articles about possible configuration problems on inputs.
