The 7808 Repeater Tap extends a controller LAN's Segment distance, "T" connection distances, or extends the maximum number of devices allowed to connect on the controller LAN. Resolution The Memory Interface Processor (MIP) is a plug-in module that provides significant functional and speed enhancements to TAC products. It provides increased processor performance and enables 96 K of on-board RAM for I/NET-related processing. The MIP is installed by removing the process and other memory chip(s). (The MIP is not designed to be used with all or our products!) Refer to TCON101 and TCON123.

Issue Dip Switch settings to set a 78010 Tap as a Host LAN Tap Environment I/NET site Cause Dip Switch settings to set a 78010 Tap as a Host LAN Tap Resolution Place switches 4 and 5 down. Refer to TCON 101.

Issue How do I set the address for the 78010 Tap? Environment I/NET site Cause How do I set the address for the 78010 Tap? Resolution Positions 1,2, and 3 of DIP switch SW1 define the TAP address. This address identifies the Tap when connecting through I/NET software. The Tap address can be set at 0 - 7 when direct connecting to a host LAN, and it will always be address 0 when connecting to a controller LAN. The switches are binary with their values being active when in the up position.

Resolution This application is used when point alarms, messages, transactions and other user-define conditions require immediate attention. This application is also used when automatic collection of data is required. Docutrend and Access Control reports are examples of data collection.

Issue What is a 7810 Tap? Environment I/NET Site Cause What is a 7810 Tap? Resolution The 7810 Tap is a special purpose Tap allowing a printer to connect directly to a controller LAN without using a workstation. This is also referred to as a Printer Tap.

Environment I/NET site Cause Site plans to install more than 64 remote ADAA (asynchronous) sites to communicate to a Embedded 4X host. What are some of the tasks? Resolution Plan! Consider which points are critical, then consider which sites are most critical (Do you really need every Message or Transaction to dial the Host immediately?) At the Host, build the Configuration Profile with the link addresses of the network Start I/NET. Set up your Network Configuration (If you are doing Docutrend, set this too!) Give each Remote Site a Unique Name and Site Number (use the INET Help Screens!) (Please, don't leave each site at link 0.) Set up each Site's Tap editor: When to Dial Who to Dial? What will cause a Dial? Link? (Remember, set it for what is needed and read the Help Screens) Save the Site Tap configuration Do frequent backups of your Host's files (This includes NETCON and SITEXXXX.SAVs)

See TCON 096 for details. Using the HHC, press [Code] , 92, [Enter] to select the AC line frequency Press [Inc] or [Dec] to switch between 50 an 60 hertz Press [Enter] to accept your choice After downloading the software and database, place the external points on the 7716 (or 7718 and 7756) Place the controller on the LAN Note:  Code 92 is not required for any of the 779x Interface's. Entering this code on the Hand Held Console will produce the error LED to illuminate.

Issue What is the usual Controller LAN speed? Environment I/NET Controller LAN Cause The baud rate for all controllers on the LAN must be set to the same. The default or typical LAN speed is usually sufficient for most installations. Resolution The controller LAN speed is usually 19200 baud.
