What is acceptable for an earth ground?
Resolution
It must be a direct electrical path to earth ground. In other words, connecting the controller ground wire to a lug, where earth ground is also connected is ok. Connecting the controller ground wire to a lug in one corner of an enclosure, and the earth ground is on a lug at another corner is NOT OK. That is using the enclosure as part of the electrical path, and not a direct connection. It is NOT acceptable to use conduit or vav boxes as part of the path, either. The same applies for LAN shield grounding.
