Hi
We're putting the house on the market in Jan and our ISP, VirginMedia, cannot provide a rolling contract until we actually sell with the features and fees we currently enjoy. So the service will terminate mid January.
So...
Can I use my mobile phone wifi hot spot feature to create a wifi network that I can join my Wiser app, Programmer and TRV's to?

I can't foresee any issues with doing that - but you could try it up front!
(If you switch the VM Hub off and clone its SSID, you wouldn't even need to re-configure). Bear in mind that the Hubᴿ only works on 2.4GHz (the iTrvs aren't Wifi at all; they're zigbee).

Nice! I always thought the phones ssid was set by the hotspot app, but I've found I can edit it. So, magic! Thank you.

We have used a mobile hotspot to support several devices we are running in a lab. As long as your hotspot device can maintain a persistent connection, it works fine.

I would recommend a Hot Spot Device over a phone as they do not have issues with incoming calls or contentions. A low cost Alcatel hotspot device works great. There are other versions with RJ 45s you can wire in directly into the Wiser.

I've just noticed that there seems to be an ongoing issue with Huawei 4G Routers, so they're probably best avoided.

I'm having to go with Now Broadband. They're the only company who can install on the day that I lose VirginMedia and offer rolling monthly contacts which I need until the house sells.
So I'm hoping that I can configure Now Broadband's router with the same SSID and credentials and everything in the house will just continue to work as normal.
