Noisy smart thermostat heads

I have installed a wiser kit 1 to our 3 storey town house due to the temperature difference between floors. The system works well in conjunction with wet underfloor heating on the ground floor. However, the noise the smart thermostat heads make is okay in most rooms, but in the bedrooms when the heads open or adjust, the noise is loud enough to wake us. We do have large radiators which seem to resonate making the noise more pronounced. Does anyone have a fix that would make them significantly quieter?

My alternate solution would be to reinstate the traditional radiator thermostats on the top floor and install a motorised zone valve to control the flow to that level, activated by a wiser micro power module. Does anyone have a better solution, or a way to silence the smart radiator thermostat heads?

hi @Pyrotech ,

Thanks for your post and sorry for the inconvenience you face during night with the thermostats.

The power micromodule cannot be used for temperature control, it is a system extension that has not yet been implemented.

In your case the noise is mainly coming from the radiator of your bedroom which is resonating the Wiser Radiator thermostat noise. To avoid these adjustments during nighttime, you can set a slightly higher set point just before going to bed and lower it a bit below your needs during the night. The Wiser Radiator thermostat should then stay silent during your sleep.

David,

thank you for your reply. I will give your suggestion a try, and thank you for the advice on the power micro module. However, I was not intending to use it for temperature control, just to activate a motorised zone valve via the Wiser app. The temperature control would be dealt with by traditional radiator thermostat valves within that zone. This would eliminate the noise issue in all of the bedrooms. So, my next question is, would the micro module be suitable to switch a motorised zone valve?

Hi @Pyrotech ,

Yes, the power micromodule is suitable to swithch a motorised zone valve or other devices up to 3000W.
