EcoStruxure Machine Expert - Disabling Web Visualization User Rights on M2xx Controllers

Objective The objective of this knowledge base article it to demonstrate how to disable the User Rights Only for the Web-visualization on M2xx controllers. Resolution This is done by creating an empty ".cfg" file on the controller files system and rebooting the controller. This helps accessing the visualization via the Web server without being asking for a password and username. How does the M580 Safety CPU Safe Task setting affect Process Safety Time?

Issue When designing a Safety Instrumented Function (SIF), it is mandatory to define the Process Safety Time and ensure that the function will be executed within this time. According to IEC 61508, part 2, 7.4.3.2.5: The Process Safety Time (PST) is defined as the period between a failure occurring in the EUC (Equipment Under Control) or the EUC control system (with the potential to give rise to a hazardous event) and the occurrence of the hazardous event if the safety function is not performed. Resolution Engineers must carefully balance the scan cycle time and CPU bandwidth to ensure that all safety and non-safety tasks are executed efficiently. This often involves optimizing the program code and possibly upgrading hardware to meet the demands of stringent Process Safety Time (PST) requirements. Disclaimer The views and opinions expressed in this article are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of Schneider Electric.

EcoStruxure Automation Expert - Populating Data Grid Control with C#

Objective The Data Grid in EAE’s HMI is useful for many purposes. In this article, we will learn how to populate it with recipes so that the user may choose one to eventually send to a controller. Behind all of these are C# Codes. We will learn the codes and techniques necessary to perform the operations related. The eventual bigger picture is towards building a bigger application such as one that retrieves information from a data source. But before we can do that, we need to know the basics of Data Grid first.   Disclaimer The views and opinions expressed in this article are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of Schneider Electric.

EcoStruxure Automation Expert - Recommended Naming Conventions in EAE

Issue When building a Solution in EAE, each engineer has their own idea of how to name items such as pins on a function block, the names of Composite or Basic Function Blocks which they create, the names of folders, Symbols, Faceplates and the list goes on. Without a standard naming convention to conform to, a Solution can become an accumulation of unorderly syntaxes. Resolution This article serves to uncover the different naming conventions widely used in real world engineering. A EAE Naming Convention Reference Card is also provided. Its intention is to be used as a guide during your EAE’s engineering lifecycle. It is produced based on close observation of Schneider’s Libraries that comes in EAE.   Disclaimer The views and opinions expressed in this article are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of Schneider Electric.
