Although MCS is made for use in AVEVA System Platform (ASP), MCS also open a way for any 3rd part OPC UA Clients to come right in. The platforms open source combined with cloud based data analytics tools can add value quickly and with a low development and effort cost according to the MVP concept (Minimum Viable Product). Issue There are often customer requirements to send safety related data over communications links. At the same time, the requirement automatically arises for the transference of safe and non-safe data via a collective standard network. A safe network will allow the Safety controller to communicate with each other and provides a robust and safe means of sending safety related data using the communications medium that best suits the applications and budget. Resolution With M580 Safety CPU firmware 3.20 or later, the safe time synchronization is based on an internal "monotonic" time clock. The safe communication DOES NOT need NTP time synchronization as the CPU is sharing its safe time with all its local and remote I/Os. The remote I/O drop uses BM•CRA31210 module and must have a firmware 2.60 or later to work. A monotonic clock is a time source that always moves forward and will not be impacted by variations leading to jumps in time (due to NTP or Daylight Savings Time updates). Monotonic uses Thomas Habets's cross platform "monotonic_clock" library under the hood. Attached herewith are two documents file that guide you on how to implement Safe Peer-to-Peer communication between two M580 Safety ePAC (MASTER PAC and SLAVE PAC). Issue The Modicon M580 Safety controller can execute single task and multi-task applications. Unlike a single task application which only executes the MAST task, a multi-task application defines the priority of each task. When a task is running, it can be interrupted by another task with a higher relative priority. For example, when a periodic task is scheduled to execute its code, it would interrupt a lower priority task, but would wait until the completion of a higher priority task. Resolution For optimal CPU performance, Schneider Electric recommends that the total percentage of CPU bandwidth consumed by an application not exceed 80%. Users will need to determine the CPU bandwidth and fine tune to adjust the tasks period for an optimal CPU performance. Issue How to work with a TÜV Rheinland certified controller, Modicon M580 Safety ePAC, within the EcoStruxure Process Expert? Resolution The EcoStruxure™ Process Expert supports users to create, configure, program, and deploy process and safety applications to the Modicon M580 Safety controller. The Modicon M580 Safety controller is added as part of the EcoStruxure™ Process Expert system architecture, providing seamless transparency connections into the system network. The EcoStruxure™ Process Expert handles the process logic part for M580 Safety controllers, while the safety related part will be handled by the control participant, ensuring safety functions and process control are separated and independent within a common engineering environment. Issue This document shows how to integrate Aquis into ClearSCADA. With this integration, an operator would have access to the monitoring information coming from SCADA as well as simulation information coming from the hydraulic model. This will allow him to analyze the behavior of his network and forecast the impact of the operational activities. The EcoStruxue Web Services data connection is used to facilitate data exchange between Aquis and ClearSCADA. The operator will be able to access the Aquis model directly on ViewX. Issue This document outline some of the user experience with respect to supervision project performance while using EcoStruxure Hybrid DCS. Use cases are like slow page update, alarm / trend & communication errors when dealing with large scale projects. Issue How to migrate previous version of EcoStruxure™ Control Expert Classic project to use in Topology Manager? The functionality of Topology Manager within EcoStruxure™ Control Expert provides a collaborative environment that manages, designs and deploys the entire automation architecture with multiple controller systems including various types of automation assets. Resolution To convert and upgrade existing EcoStruxure™ Control Expert Classic project to the latest version of EcoStruxure™ Control Expert Classic, at least from version 15.1 onwards. Create a new System Project and import the converted or upgraded project into Topology Manager. To support the Topology Manager features, the I/O Scanning mode will be changed to Enhanced mode and the M580 CPU firmware must be at least version 2.70 or higher..
