Click Renewal Options to view your UPS device’s warranty options and to buy an extended warranty.   Status Description Start Date The UPS device’s warranty start date. Expiry Date The date of expiration of the UPS device’s warranty. If you have purchased an extended warranty, this date will include both your factory and extended warranty. Contract Number The UPS device’s extended warranty contract number. The APC Entitlements team will provide this contract number in your Warranty Certificate via email.    NOTES: It can take up to 7 working days for your extended warranty information to display in the Web Portal. If the Renewal Options button is not visible for your UPS, it may not be eligible to buy an extended warranty. This occurs for lithium-ion devices and UPS devices out of warranty coverage. Contact your APC reseller to discuss your options. Multiple factors go into determining the validity of a warranty. Speak to the Customer Care Centre to obtain the most accurate information. For more information, see UPS Factory Warranty Information.

Battery

This section describes the status of the UPS battery.   Status Description Runtime The number of minutes the UPS can support the connected load. This is displayed when the UPS is on line and on battery. Charge The percentage of the battery capacity that is available to support the load. Temperature The ambient temperature near the UPS battery. Improving airflow and cooling of the UPS can extend battery life. Replace By The date of expiry of the Battery. If your UPS battery is due to expire, visit www.apc.com or your reseller partner to buy a replacement battery. If configured, your reseller will be notified when your UPS battery is due to expire.  Set Battery Install Date Set the date of battery installation via the cloud when a new battery is installed in the UPS. The UPS calculates the 'Replace By' date of expiry based on the battery installation date. You can also set the date of battery installation via the UPS display. If the battery install date is not reset during battery replacement, the UPS may send battery replacement notifications. Set the date via the cloud to avoid on-site configuration at the UPS display.

Control

This section allows you to remotely reboot your UPS device’s outlet groups to assist with equipment troubleshooting. You can also configure Load Shedding to preserve your device’s battery by turning of non-critical loads.   Prerequisites To access and use these features, you must have the following: An active Advanced plan for your UPS device. See SmartConnect Subscriptions for more information. Two-factor authentication enabled for your account. See the Note under Updating your Profile for more details. SmartConnect set to 'Enable - With Ctrl'. This can be manually enabled via the UPS device’s LCD screen. For more information, consult your UPS manual in the Documents section of the UPS Status page. To configure Load Shedding, your UPS device must have at least one Controlled Outlet Group. Load Shedding does not support UPS devices with only a Main Outlet Group. NOTE: If you do not have an Advanced plan, the Control section will display a grayed-out image of a Smart-UPS device’s outlet groups. If you have purchased a plan but you do not have two-factor authentication or SmartConnect access enabled, the image will not be interactable.   Reboot Once you meet the prerequisites, the Control section displays an image of your Smart-UPS device’s outlet groups: Main Outlet Group and Controlled Outlet Group(s). The Outlet Map button displays a diagram of the back of your UPS and outlet group layout. Click the Edit button to open the Edit Details dialog where you can provide a name and description for your outlet group(s).   NOTES: The Main Outlet Group cannot be turned off on its own. The Reboot All button will remotely reboot all of your UPS device’s outlets in the Main Outlet Group and Controlled Outlet Group(s). Controlled Outlet Groups can only be turned on if the Main Outlet Group is on. You cannot remotely reboot your device’s outlet groups if one or more of its outlets are switched off. Individual outlets cannot be controlled. They can only be controlled as part of their outlet groups. Outlet group names are stored in the SmartConnect Web Portal and not written to the UPS. If you have named your outlet group(s) via the UPS LCD or other applications (e.g. PowerChute Serial Shutdown, Network Management Card), the provided name(s) will not appear in the Web Portal. Click the Reboot All button to remotely reboot all of your UPS device’s outlets in the Main Outlet Group and Controlled Outlet Group(s).   Click the Reboot Group 1 button to reboot the outlets in your UPS device’s Controlled Outlet Group.  NOTE: The button name will vary depending on the configured Outlet Group Name. A confirmation dialog will appear before the reboot is initiated.   Once a reboot is initiated, the web portal will display a progress bar, the estimated time remaining, and the current reboot step: Initiating reboot, Reboot in progress, and Confirming reboot.   Reboot Results: Unsuccessful: The reboot could not be completed at this time. For example, APC Smart-UPS could not contact the UPS or the UPS rejected the reboot request. If there is already a reboot in progress, the new reboot request will be unsuccessful. Completed: The reboot was completed successfully.   Load Shedding Once you meet the prerequisites, you can configure Load Shedding for your Smart-UPS device. Load Shedding preserves the battery of your UPS for essential loads running on other outlet groups by allowing you to turn-off a Controlled Outlet Group.   NOTES: SmartConnect supports Load shedding on UPS devices with at least one Controlled Outlet Group. It is not pre-configurable on UPS devices with only a Main Outlet Group. Once Load Shedding is enabled, a Controlled Outlet Group will turn off once it has been in battery operation for 4 minutes. When the power is restored to your device, the Controlled Outlet Group will either turn on immediately or at the delayed time you have configured directly on your device.   Configure Load Shedding for your Smart-UPS device Enable/Disable Load Shedding on the SmartConnect Web Portal. Visit the Dashboard on the Web Portal and select the UPS on which you would like to enable/disable Load Shedding. The UPS Status page for the device will open. Expand the Control Panel and click Enable/Disable. The Edit panel will open for the Controlled Outlet Group that supports Load Shedding, move the Load Shedding switch to Enable/Disable and save your changes.

Diagnostics

This section describes the diagnostic tests you can perform on your UPS.   NOTE: You cannot remotely perform diagnostic tests on your UPS if you do not have an active Standard or Advanced plan. For more information, see SmartConnect Subscriptions.   NOTE: SmartConnect must be enabled ‘with Control’ for Run New Test and Play features to work properly. This also applies for other features such as remote firmware upgrade installation and reboot on Advanced plan. Find out how to adjust SmartConnect Control settings.    Diagnostic Description UPS Self Test A UPS self test checks the condition of your device’s battery and the internal components used to operate the device in battery mode. The Last Test Result page displays the result and timestamp of the most recently completed UPS self test.   Click Run New Test to initiate a self test diagnostic. The Test Steps page displays the progress of the self test diagnostic – Starting, Pending, and In Progress.   When complete, the Test Result page displays the result of the self test. If the self test could not be initiated via the Web Portal, an error message is displayed. NOTE: It may take up to 4 minutes for the result to display in the Web Portal.   Self Test Results: Aborted: The self test ended prematurely. For example, the UPS device was manually powered off during the self test. Unsuccessful: There is an issue with your UPS device. The Replace Battery and/or UPS Fault (Error Code) active events may be triggered. Passed: No issues were found with the UPS device’s battery or internal components used to operate the device in battery mode. Refused: The self test could not be completed as the UPS did not meet the running conditions. Ensure that: – the UPS device is powered on, i.e. the UPS Output Power Turned Off active event is not displayed in the Web Portal – the UPS battery is connected, i.e the Battery Disconnected active event is not displayed in the Web Portal – the UPS device’s controlled outlet group(s) is (are) powered on, if applicable –the UPS device’s battery is sufficiently charged – active events related to an Unsuccessful self test result  – the UPS battery is not overheating – the UPS is not overloaded Audible Alarm The audible alarm is used to physically locate your UPS device. Sounding the alarm causes the device to beep for a few seconds. Click the Play button to initiate the audible alarm.   If the Run New Test and Play buttons are disabled in the Web Portal, ensure that SmartConnect access is enabled on your Smart-UPS. This can be manually enabled via the UPS device’s LCD screen. For more information, consult your UPS manual. Your UPS manual can be viewed in the Documents section in the UPS Status page.   Once initiated, a diagnostic test will continue to run in the background until it has completed. Navigating away from the Diagnostics section or the UPS Status page will not interrupt the self test or audible alarm.

Device

This section describes the status of UPS attributes, such as load and input/output voltage.   Status Description Input The input voltage (in Volts) of the utility power connected to the UPS. Output The output voltage (in Volts) of the UPS to the connected devices. Load The percentage of the UPS rated load that is consumed by the devices attached to the UPS. If this level reaches 80%, consider reducing the connected load. Sensitivity Power input conditions on your site may affect the number of times that your UPS switches to battery power. Your UPS switches to battery power to ensure clean power is being transferred to your connected IT equipment. If your connected equipment is more tolerant to input power fluctuations, you can try reducing the power quality setting on your UPS. You should see fewer switches to battery power, and fewer on-battery and online power events.   Normal: The UPS will go on battery power more often to provide the cleanest power supply to the connected equipment. Low: The UPS will tolerate more fluctuations in power and will go on battery power less often. If the connected load is sensitive to power disturbances, set the sensitivity to Normal.   NOTE: To use this setting, your device must be on a Standard or Advanced plan and SmartConnect Access must be configured to ‘Enable with Crtl’ on your Smart-UPS. This can be manually enabled via the UPS device’s LCD screen. For more information, see your UPS operation manual.

Delete your Device

Click Delete UPS to delete the UPS from your Schneider Electric account.   NOTE: This action deletes all UPS data, including UPS Profile details, UPS Event Logs, and warranty extension details. This action cannot be undone.   Registering a deleted UPS with another Schneider Electric account If you delete a UPS from a Schneider Electric account, and register that UPS with a different Schneider Electric account: Any records of UPS Active Events that were present at the time the UPS was deleted will not be present in the event log once the UPS is registered with a subsequent account. Any Notifications relating to Active Events sent at the time the UPS was deleted will not be re-sent once the UPS is registered with a subsequent account. Only Load Shedding and Operation Mode will reflect any remnant of an abnormal state at the time the UPS was deleted, once the UPS is registered with a subsequent account. If the deleted UPS remains connected to Schneider Electric cloud services in the interim before it is registered with a subsequent account, UPS events will continue to be logged (to a maximum of 30 days history), and once the UPS is registered with a subsequent account, this history will be visible to the new account. To prevent this data being logged, disconnect the UPS from network after deleting it from the account. Any events that occur after the UPS is registered with a subsequent account will be logged to the event log, and any configured notifications will be sent, as expected.
