Issue A security database was created with the Security Editor tool on a PC where an old version of EcoStruxure Control Expert is installed (i.e. version 15.0). Then, a newer version of EcoStruxure Control Expert is installed (i. e. version 16.0) on the same PC. How to avoid creating the entire security database from scratch after installing a newer version of EcoStruxure Control Expert. Resolution Use the Security Database Migration Tool to migrate the previous security database to the one that is automatically created as part of the installation process of EcoStruxure Control Expert V16.0.

Manage forced variables in a PLC program has been a challenge on the industry for decades. Ideally every plant manager wants a ZERO force policy but in real world this not possible and eventually a force must be put in place to ensure production KPIs. Then the challenge becomes how to manager those forces. The solution to manage forces is to give full transparency by showing the status of forced variables in a SCADA system where operation managers and maintenance managers could see and take the needful action to replace the damaged sensors and then removed the forces in the PLC program. This KB shows an easy way to manage forces through the OPC quality code by displaying it in the supervision system.

Issue EcoStruxure Control Expert doesn't provide Double length real calculation functions. Resolution This library performs Long real calculation using an array type LREAL of 2 Dword, where the long real is coded using IEEE 754 format. The zip file attached contains the library, a FBD section to test the library and a tool allowing to convert the IEEE 754 format (useful to make the test) Be aware that all the controls are not performed when overflow happens, so use the library with care, mainly when you perform type conversions. Issue The Modicon M580 Hot Standby System is a redundant control system designed for high availability and reliability in industrial applications. It consists of two M580 Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs) configured in a Hot Standby configuration, where one PAC operates as the active controller and the other as the standby controller. It is possible to have the other standby controller to run program sections while in Wait or Standby state. Resolution Any program sections of the application can be executed by defining the condition of execution in the Properties window of the Section screen under the Condition tab. Issue Sometimes we need to do modifications and new development in an application offline, but we can't stop the controller when it's time to download the changes. Resolution With Modicon M580 redundant is possible implement offline modifications without stop the application using the HSBY_BUILD_OFFLINE library. Issue There are some scenarios where making online modifications on the standby CPU of a hot standby system may be necessary. For example, if there are changes to the process or system configuration that need to be implemented immediately, and the primary CPU is not available, making online modifications on the standby CPU may be necessary to ensure continuity of the process. Resolution To make online modifications to an application program, a logic mismatch signal will be enabled to allow a Hot Standby system to continue operating even if there is a mismatch between the applications in the Primary and Standby CPUs. The Logic Mismatch feature will be used to modify an application program and the I/O configuration while the process remains redundant. This document describes the procedure to perform an online modification to a Modicon M580 Standby controller. Issue There are often customer requirements to send safety related data over communications links. At the same time, the requirement automatically arises for the transference of safe and non-safe data via a collective standard network. A safe network will allow the Safety controller to communicate with each other and provides a robust and safe means of sending safety related data using the communications medium that best suits the applications and budget. Resolution With M580 Safety CPU firmware 3.20 or later, the safe time synchronization is based on an internal "monotonic" time clock. The safe communication DOES NOT need NTP time synchronization as the CPU is sharing its safe time with all its local and remote I/Os. The remote I/O drop uses BM•CRA31210 module and must have a firmware 2.60 or later to work. A monotonic clock is a time source that always moves forward and will not be impacted by variations leading to jumps in time (due to NTP or Daylight Savings Time updates). Monotonic uses Thomas Habets's cross platform "monotonic_clock" library under the hood. Attached herewith are two documents file that guide you on how to implement Safe Peer-to-Peer communication between two M580 Safety ePAC (MASTER PAC and SLAVE PAC).
