Issue There are two available solutions to implement time stamping with EcoStruxure Control Expert, both methods are easy to implement and can be selected for use in almost any circumstance. Applicative – A function block is required for third-party SCADA to convert and read the information System – No programming is required (some components are needed) System and Applicative time stamping modes are exclusive in the same EcoStruxure Control Expert application running in the controllers. In this article, we will investigate the System Time Stamping solution. Resolution System Time Stamping provides a consistent SOE (sequence of events), time stamped at the source, to allow the user to analyse the source of abnormal behaviour in a distributed automation system. The SOE is displayed in an alarm summary or SOE page of a client (such as a SCADA). Each source of time stamped event of the SOE is a discrete I/O value change (transition) detected by a time stamping module, this event is then passed through to OFS and straight to the SCADA. Issue References are widely used in programming, especially to efficiently pass large or mutable data as arguments to procedures, or to share such data among various uses. A reference may point to a variable or record that contains references to other data. This idea is the basis of indirect addressing and of many linked data structures, such as linked lists. Resolution There are many advantages of using variables reference over pointer variables (like in C++ programming) such as: A reference variable does not consume any extra memory. It has the same memory address as the variable it refers to. While a pointer needs extra space for itself. In order to access the value of the referenced variable using pointer, we need to use a dereferencing operator whereas we can do the same using reference variable without any dereferencing method. Reference variables are cleaner and modish as compared to the pointers; they can also be used while passing in the function as arguments, known as call by references. Issue How can I configure Plant SCADA to communicate with the Modicon M580 BME NUA 0100 (OPC UA) module using trusted certificates. Issue Customers would like to monitor the power supply modules of the Modicon M580 controller and observe whether they function correctly. Diagnose and analyse with the information so as to find its root cause. Resolution The Modicon X80 Redundant Power Supply module beside providing power supply module redundancy coming from different power sources, it can also provide users monitoring and diagnostics information. The PWS_DIAG and PWS_CMD function function blocks provide users internal diagnostic (e.g. voltage and current) for each of the redundant power supply modules. Issue Automation devices with their DTM are typically managed by EcoStruxure™ Control Expert Classic from the DTM Browser at each controller's level. In a multiple controllers system architecture, users must manage the device configuration information individually from each of its *.STU file. Resolution With Topology Manager functionality, all automation Devices (with DTMs) can be managed very easily at the Topology Manager system level.This makes the device configuration independent from *.STU file. Moving away from the traditional EcoStruxure™ Control Expert Classic using the DTM Browser of each controller's level.
