Updating EcoStruxure IT Gateway to the latest version

The EcoStruxure IT Gateway must be at a minimum of version 1.18 to update to the latest Gateway version. If your Gateway version is older than 1.18, contact support for assistance.   When you update the Gateway to the latest version, the software update performs a backup that is stored in the install directory. It is important that you have a back up before you update EcoStruxure IT Gateway.    To manually run a Gateway backup, see Configure Gateway backup Take a snapshot via VM.   Do not uninstall the previous version of the Gateway software.   Update from IT Expert   Gateway software update is available from IT Expert.   Log in to IT Expert. Go to Administration > Gateways. Click the Update button on each Gateway you want to update the software on.        The Gateway software update runs in the background.   New Gateway versions can be installed with minimal downtime, and are deployed in parallel with the currently running instance. You can actively monitor your devices while data migration and new version deployment completes. If there is a failure to migrate data and deploy the new version, the current Gateway install will continue to run unaffected, reporting errors to our engineering team for review.   Manual update and installation   Log in to IT Expert. Go to Administration > Gateways. Click Download Gateway software. Run the installer.   OR   Download the Gateway software for Windows or Linux here.   Auto-update in IT Expert   You can enable automatic Gateway software updates in IT Expert. When you enable auto-update on a Gateway connected to IT Expert, you allow Schneider Electric to automatically update it when a new software version is available.   In IT Expert, go to Administration > Gateways. Click Enable auto-update on the Gateway tile(s).     You can also double click a Gateway tile and check the box to enable auto-update, or uncheck the box to disable it.

Configuring cloud connectivity in the Gateway

The Gateway server must use the internet to communicate with EcoStruxure IT. If cloud connectivity fails during the Gateway setup, messages and recommended actions are displayed on the Cloud Connectivity page. Note: If the Gateway has connected to the cloud, the Device credentials page is displayed. The Cloud connectivity page includes options to set up a proxy server and add a trusted SSL certificate. These options are also available in the Gateway user interface after you exit the set up wizard. GW18_cloud-connection-failed_360009189117.png Set up a proxy server If your organization requires you to use a proxy server for internet connectivity, specify the settings. Click Proxy Settings Choose to automatically detect proxy settings, or to configure the settings manually, specify the proxy server address, the HTTP port and HTTPS port used to communicate with the proxy server. You may also supply a username and password if they are required by the proxy server. Click Save and confirm the connection to EcoStruxure IT was successful. Follow the on-screen recommendations if the Gateway server cannot access the proxy server using those settings. IMPORTANT: You must manually restart the Gateway service after changing proxy settings. GW18_proxy_dialog_360009189117.png Add trusted SSL certificate If your organization requires HTTPS traffic to pass through an SSL inspection proxy, you may need to install the root CA certificate used by the proxy. An untrusted SSL certificate error can occur if your organization operates an SSL inspection proxy and EcoStruxure IT Gateway does not trust the issuing CA. Your IT department can provide the correct root certificate. The certificate must be in PEM format with one of the following extensions: cer, crt, or pem. To add an untrusted certificate authority's (CA) root certificate to the EcoStruxure IT Gateway trust store:  Click Import certificate, drag and drop the certificate file, or copy and paste the root certificate contents into the box.  GW18_add_certificate_360009189117.JPG See How to solve the Gateway untrusted certificate chain error Once you finish setting up the Gateway, you can see and manage trusted certificates in Settings > Trust store. Discover devices

Device credentials   During the initial setup of your Gateway, you specify credentials to communicate with the SNMPv1, SNMPv3, NetBotz, Redfish, or Modbus devices you want to discover. To modify these settings later, go to Settings > Device credentials.   See Installing and setting up EcoStruxure IT Gateway   Note: When AES is configured in the APC Network Management Card (NMC) interface, choose AES128 in the Gateway user interface.   Note: The EcoStruxure IT Gateway does not support SCP on APC NMC1 devices. How to identify APC Network Management Card 1 (NMC1) devices   EcoStruxure IT Gateway versions older than 1.15 do not allow discovery of SNMPv3 devices with the Authentication type or the Encryption type set to None.    Your APC NMC3 devices might be configured to limit the number of failed login attempts. If the number of device file transfer credentials you provide in the Gateway exceeds the number of failed login attempts allowed on the NMC3 device, the device might be locked.   See New cybersecutity requirements in NMC3   GW18_device_credentials_1_360021184553.PNG Discover devices   To discover devices after the initial setup of your Gateway:   Go to Discover devices. Click Configure Credentials to select specific device file transfer credentials to use in a device discovery. Otherwise, all configured credentials will be used. Click Manage credentials to view the credentials you have configured in the Gateway. To comply with stricter cybersecurity requirements across various product groups, it is recommended that you review your username/password lists in EcoStruxure IT Gateway and confirm that configured credentials are both active and accurate. Specify the IP addresses or address range of the devices, or import a device list.  You cannot import a device list for serial Modbus discoveries.   idea_icon_360021184553.png Check out the on-screen device discovery tips.     Discovery results are displayed in the summary including discovered devices and unsupported devices that were not discovered. You can view details about unsupported devices, and see discovery results in the discovery log.   If you find that one or more of your devices is not supported, you can request device support. All discovered devices are listed on the Devices page.   Need help configuring your APC NMC devices?  Need help configuring your NetBotz devices?
