Renewal Notification

SmartConnect customers are notified that their subscription requires renewal by:

  • A notification on the Dashboard, Subscription Overview and Device page.
  • The subscription expiry date specified in the myInventory and myRenewals asset reports.
  • Email communications to the customer, and to the Reseller (if renewal email notifications have been enabled through the reseller feature).

Note: SmartConnect customers do not use mySchneider Software Management to renew their SmartConnect subscription. Instead, customers or their technical representative receive the SmartConnect activation code via email, and log in to SmartConnect to manually assign the subscription.  See How to Renew a Subscription below.

 

How to Renew a Subscription 

As a partner, your customer may share their SmartConnect devices with you. You can view these shared devices when logged in, and perform the following actions:

  • Receive subscription expiry notifications.
  • Purchase a subscription for a device that was shared with you, and receive an activation code.
  • Activate a subscription for your customer.

  

If you are performing the purchase and activation of a subscription on behalf of your customer, your email address is provided as Installer Email and you will receive an activation code via email. One activation code can contain a quantity of licenses that can be assigned to shared devices when you are logged in to SmartConnect:

Note: The full quantity of licenses associated with an activation code does not need to be assigned at once. You can assign a proportion of the license quantity, and use the same activation code to assign the remaining quantity to devices at a later date. Each entitlement term is calculated independently for the assigned device, starting from the date of assignment.

 

Assign Subscription to a Shared Device 

  1. Log into SmartConnect and Verify your Activation Code to apply the subscription to your customer's shared device:

  2. Select Shared with Me to assign a license to a shared device:

  3. Select the checkbox beside a device to assign a license to one or more devices, and click Next.
    Note: The devices are listed in order of eligibility for renewal. You can renew devices early with no loss of term duration. See Early Renewal below.

  4. Confirm the assignment to complete the subscription renewal for the shared device:

Early Renewal

When you renew a subscription, SmartConnect appends the duration of the new subscription to the end of the current term. If you renew a subscription before it has expired, there is no loss of duration - the new term starts only when the current term entitlement ends. In a large installation with many UPS devices and varying terms, it is recommended to renew early to ensure no loss of service.

  

SmartConnect Subscription - How to Quote

When a customer gets a renewal notification, they can send the myRenewals report directly to a Partner to seek quotation. Here are some key considerations when providing a quotation for a new or renewal subscription, to provide the customer with the best range of options:

  • Provide a quote for 1 year, 3 year and 5 year plans.
  • Provide a quotation that includes a selection of Standard and Advanced plans.
  • Check the Battery Replace By dates in the myRenewals report to provide a quotation for battery needs.
  • Check the Warranty Expiry dates in the myRenewals report to consider their warranty needs.
  • Consider the Advanced Plan Promotion and view how volume impacts quantity and term duration value for the customer. Use the licence quantity calculator to help customers get more subscription for the same price.
    • Order the quantity of licenses required, and the free quantity of 1 and 3 year advanced plans is automatically added.
    • Customers can obtain the additional free months once they activate their subscription.
