EcoStruxure IT Gateway 1.9 release notes

Improved device support Starting in EcoStruxure IT Gateway 1.9.0, the device library will be released more frequently, independent from Gateway software releases. EcoStruxure IT Gateway device library release notes EcoStruxure IT Gateways configured for auto-update will get the new device library automatically. Gateways not configured for auto-update require an Administrator user to manually update the device library in EcoStruxure IT. Note: Updates to the device library are only available through EcoStruxure IT, not as a separate downloadable file. How to update the Gateway device library Have an unsupported device?   Strong passwords enforced The EcoStruxure IT Gateway password policy now requires: At least 10 characters in length At least 3 of the following 4 types of characters: Lower case letters (a-z) Upper case letters (A-Z) Numbers (0-9) Special characters (Example: !@#$%^&*) No more than 2 identical characters in a row (Example: aaa is not allowed) Strong passwords are enforced when you first create your password and when you change your password. You are not required to change your existing password after updating your Gateway. SCP support SCP is now supported as a secure alternative to FTP for event.txt, device configuration, and firmware update.  It is strongly recommended that you use SCP and disable FTP on your APC NMC-based devices. IMPORTANT: You must update the device configuration settings in the Gateway and rediscover the devices that you modified to use SCP credentials. See Configure Gateway device file transfer settings Log rotation Gateway log rotation on Linux installations now occurs as expected. Backup output email An email is no longer sent for a Gateway backup on Linux installations, was previously sending large email for each backup.  Backup results are still stored in cli.log. EcoStruxure IT Gateway 1.8.2 release notes

Updating the Gateway from 1.8.1 to the current version There is an issue updating Gateway 1.8.1 to the current Gateway version. Only the update from version 1.8.1 is affected. Updating from Gateway 1.7.0 and earlier is not affected. Updating from 1.8.2 and later is not affected. Windows Due to an issue with 1.8.1, the software update from 1.8.1 to 1.8.2 appears to fail when performing an upgrade from the EcoStruxure IT Web application. This failure message is erroneous. It can take up to 30 minutes for the Gateway to start running the new version and to clear the message. If the message doesn't clear, contact support for assistance. Linux Due the same issue in 1.8.1, the update from the EcoStruxure IT Web application will always fail.  If you have installed Gateway version 1.8.1 on a computer, updating to 1.8.2 requires that you manually download and install the installation file from EcoStruxure IT.  To update the software on a Gateway appliance, contact support for assistance.   DDF updates Corrected the name of the controller in some Uniflair Modbus DDFs Improvements for Uniflair Modbus device discovery Other improvements Improved the Gateway software update process   See also  Updating EcoStruxure IT Gateway to the latest version

EcoStruxure IT Gateway 1.8.1 release notes

Updated Gateway user interface More intuitive onboarding A setup wizard in the Gateway user interface simplifies the initial setup and onboarding flow and gives you better guidance. See Installing and setting up EcoStruxure IT Gateway Improved device discovery  You can now import IP address lists when you create discovery entries. It is easier to see and fix why certain devices fail to discover. You can now retrieve the latest device details values directly from the device details page. Improved device communication credential management Device credentials can now be shared across all discoveries. Enter them once and use them as often as needed without re-entering. Easier network proxy management For organizations requiring use of a SSL/TLS inspection proxy, trusted certificate authority (CA) root certificates can now be directly uploaded in the Gateway user interface. Cloud-based alarm threshold management Alarm threshold management was moved from Gateway to the EcoStruxure IT user interface. For organizations with multiple Gateways connected, alarm thresholds for notifications are now managed from a single place. Log in to EcoStruxure IT and go to Alarms > Thresholds.  How to configure alarm thresholds in EcoStruxure IT All the Gateways in your organization must be updated to version 1.8 or greater to see thresholds in EcoStruxure IT. Thresholds created in previous Gateway versions are migrated to EcoStruxure IT once you update the Gateway(s) to 1.8 or greater. Other improvements Firmware update  The reliability of firmware updates was improved, particularly on networks with more restrictive firewall settings. Simplified backup and restore Gateway backups can be stored to the local file system, eliminating the need to configure remote file shares. Gateway is automatically backed up weekly to the local file system, keeping the 3 most recent backups. Gateway backup configuration and manual creation is now performed via the command line. It is no longer configured via the Gateway web interface. Local or remote terminal access is required to create and maintain Gateway backups. Note: For Gateway appliances, technical support assistance is required to enable local or remote (SSH) console access to create Gateway backups. These changes simplify and align the Gateway backup and restore procedures. See Configure Gateway backup in Gateway 1.8 and Configure Gateway restore in Gateway 1.8 Linux Gateway log rotation Gateway log files are rotated as expected on Linux systems. Modbus The Modbus server address is now displayed in the Inventory tab to help you differentiate multiple Modbus devices at a single IP address. Security updates Software vulnerabilities fixed ICSA-20-126-01 - Uncontrolled search path element Numerous additional security patches and general hardening improved the security posture of the Gateway web server. EcoStruxure IT Gateway 1.10.x release notes

Gateway 1.10.1 This release addresses an issue in Gateway version 1.10 that prevented some users from logging in to the user interface. All Gateway users can now log in as expected. Gateway 1.10 New management interface for the Gateway appliance A more secure and easier-to-use management interface replaced Webmin on the private network of the Gateway appliance. It includes options to manage and configure the appliance private network, public network, and NTP server; controls to reboot, reset, or shut down the appliance; and a command line interface for access to advanced options via SSH. See EcoStruxure IT Gateway appliance installation and setup - version 1.10 and newer GWA_up_360018815238.png Gateway appliance OS update in IT Expert You now update the operating system on Gateway appliances in EcoStruxure IT on the Administration > Gateways tab.  See Updating the Gateway appliance - version 1.10 and newer Configure SNMP trap ports The Gateway now listens for traps on port 162 by default for better third party device support. Note: The Gateway listens for SNMPv1 traps only. The new Settings > Advanced > SNMP trap ports option allows you to configure SNMP trap ports in addition to 1062. The configurable port list contains port 162 to support the default for most third party devices.  To receive traps for third party devices, you must manually add the Gateway as an SNMP trap receiver in the device's user interface. See Configure SNMP trap ports GW110_advanced_SNMP_ports_sm_360018815238.png NMC 3 firmware update support As of this release, you can now use IT Expert to update the firmware on devices that use an APC Network Management Card 3 (AP9640).  Additional device configuration options in IT Expert  More config.ini options are available to update device settings using IT Expert device configuration and single device configuration: device name, location, and contacts. Domain change to us.ecostruxureit.com Some URLs used for Gateway communication with EcoStruxure IT reflect outdated branding and are being retired. The URL us.struxureon.com will soon be replaced by us.ecostruxureit.com. You must define a DNS server for the network that connects to EcoStruxure IT. Make sure your Gateway can resolve us.struxureon.com and us.ecostruxureit.com via DNS. Note: Firewall settings to connect using static IP addresses 40.84.62.190, 23.99.90.28 and 52.230.227.202 are unaffected by this change.
