View .XML data from ION Setup?
this question was partially answered in another thread :"Scripting ION Setup for downloading..."
However, is there any way to view or extract the .XML file data that is generated by ION Setup? I am specifically referring to the tab under Reports / "Data Collection" . While the other reports can be saved as .CSV, this one is strictly .XML.
The question has been made to me: Why not .CSV?
and more importantly:
How can the data be viewed or extracted from the .XML into a spreadsheet?

The Data Collection option is generated as an easy means to collect data from a remote device for the sole purpose of importing that information into PME (i.e. no permanent communication connection is available between the PME server and remote ION device so this was developed to allow someone to go out to the device and remotely extract that information to be imported into PME for processing).
While CSV is available as a file format for storage, we didn't want to promote ION Setup to be used some type of free data collection tool where a more sophisticated one like PME is far superior. You would NOT use the XML format for anything but for PME (so if you do want to pull data into Excel, upload information and save it as CSV, not XML).
