Need help for ION8600

Dear Group,

need help o explain the following.

  • The ION meter value today is 8,216,743.93 MWH. See attached photo. The value is for MWH export.
  • in the moddus map, If the KWH is composed of 2 registers, should not be their maximum value is
    2 To the power 32 (4,294,967,296 KWH = 4,294,967 MWH )?
  •

How this can be configured in the ION? Since 4,294,967 < 8,216,743.93.

Re: Need help for ION8600

we got a direction from Anup Surendran Chozhiyattel Thiyyath <anup.surendran@se.com> , to configure the modbus mapping. meaning , to create new 4 registers (4*16 bit = 64 bit).
in this way , the ION will store the values "as is" in these new registers.

by this way, we can take the full value of the reading, in Watt resolution.

the max range shall be 2^64 =18446744073709551616 W  = 18,446,744,073,709 MW. that is 2M times grater than the current value.

we shall try this solution and update the case.

Re: Need help for ION8600

You mean this register address 40232 ?

Label       Address   Module no.     Module label   No. of registers    Format    Scaling   Scaling Enable

kWh rec   40232            9                     kWh/kVArh              2                      INT32       1/1000         No

Use ION Setup connect to meter change to Advance option select Modbus Slave module go to module No. 9 then configure it.

Hope this may help.

Re: Need help for ION8600

Hello,

The scaling of the register also needs to be taken into account, 1/1000 means that the value send via modbus will be 1000 times as large as the value in the register so when the modbus value is divided by 1000, the end result is 3 decimal points. With the default scaling and configuration, the maximum MWH to be sent = ((2^32 )/1000 )/1000) = 4,294.967296. There are a few options. A) link MWH to the modbus slave module, B) Reduce the scaling.

Re: Need help for ION8600

Dear Yut,

thanks for the reply.

  • the meter displays a value of 8x10^6 MWH and still can increase.
  • note : the meter step up file shows the following :
    1. in ION step up software: the scaling found to be "custom"
    2. in ION meter display : the scaling found to be 1000.

so, what is the right scaling to choose in ION step up? in order can show bigger values ? (like the

  • 8x10^6 MWH)

thanks

Re: Need help for ION8600

i agree with you about the maximum value in MWH it can reach with 2 registers.

but the meter now shows this value in its display " 8x10^6 MWH "and still can increase.

Re: Need help for ION8600

Note that inside the meter, the module in question is Float 64 bit number, only the modbus register is 32 bit integer.
