Hi
Whilst looking for some ION9000 specs i noticed this page about Residual Current Measurement:
I can't remember seeing anything to do with this subject in presentations on the meter, is this function in the current release of the ION9000 ?
Is there any further information on it ?
Cheers

Hello,
Can we set increasing thresholds against load in the meter for alarming on residual?
Yes, this would require a little customization of the framework but is possible. For example use an arithmetic module to calculate relative current setting, ie Iavg / 50, feed this to a relative setpoint module with I calc res as a source.
Is there a defined screen for RCM showing the measurements?
I do not know if there is a default screen for ION9000 for Ires. If not, it is possible to create a screen with a desired name showing the measurement I calc res.
How it works: I will start by saying I am not an expert on everything internal to the meters.
On the ION9000 meters, there is a measurement that exists, I calc res, this is -(sum of I1,I2,I3,I4).

I am not sure what more information you need from the screenshot. It is implemented on the meter, you may not see the name residual current on the meter, you you would see is I4 (In) or I5 (Ig) displaying measurements depending on how the meter is configured/wired.
What questions do you have?

Hi, thanks for the reply,
Well, let me give you some background, RCM measurement is a hot topic at the moment, one which Janitza are leveraging to their advantage with consultants as the UMG96RME will do RCM, Schneider is losing ground to Janitza because of this as there isn't a one device solution. We were recently forced down the Janitza route on a job, we were happy as we got the £400K of devices and software, not a great result for Schneider though and all because of RCM.
I merely wanted to gain as much information on the RCM function in the ION9000 so we can propose it against Janitza when it comes up in specifications, for instance, can we set increasing thresholds against load in the meter for alarming on residual, is there a defined screen for RCM showing the measurements etc. etc.
Just displaying I4 and I5 measurements doesn't really mean much and as your reply suggests "you may" and "depending" perhaps a tech note on the RCM capabilities and function would be useful ?
Cheers

Hi Rich,
I appreciate this is late for your original post.
I have also just been looking for comparable meters to Janitza for RCM, i have found both the PM5660 and the PM5760 meters have Residual Current inputs. Both with 5 uA to 1,200 uA (nominal), 1,500 uA max (continuous)Input type: AC 45 to 65 Hz Burden: 150 ohms Default toroid: 1000 turns
While according to the technical document i have for the UMG 96-PA the Janitza meter has a trigger of 50 uA which seems less sensative than the 5 uA of the PM5660 and the PM5760 meters.
Regards
Darren
