Rob,
Every so often; a new build of ION Setup is released. Is there a published list of updates or changes with each build?
I ask because utility customer (HQ) would like to install a newer build, but their IT department is resisting because users are not allowed to make any modifications to their field laptops.
If there is nothing official that can be shown to a customer, can the difference between these two build versions be provided:
V3.0.12242.01
V3.0.14220.02
Thanks in advance.

Hi Eric,
Unfortunately due to the lack of resources (resources being just me) and the rapid development nature of the software, it would be very difficult to list all the changes in a singular document and maintain it. If I get a chance in the near future I could try and start one and try to update it with every release but in the meantime, I have been putting into the comment section of every release on Box what changes have occurred since the previous update (so one could go to the Older Release folder for each update and combine them all into figuring out all the changes.
Box link to the latest version: https://schneider-electric.app.box.com/ionsetuplatest
Link to folder to access previous releases (look in the Installers\Older Versions sub-folder) : https://schneider-electric.app.box.com/ionsetup
For each file, you should see a "1" on the right hand side which when clicked on, should display the comment which should describe the changes.

When installing ION Setup on any Windows 10 OS, user must now use the actual Administrator account to install the software (this is due to the fact the installer is not a UAC compatible installer yet). You can NOT just use a normal account with Administrator rights and this will likely leave the installation thinking it has installed the software when in actuality it didn't install anything.
Refer to the bottom few posts in this thread to see how to get the installer working again and when you finally can use the installer, make sure to right click on the EXE and "Run as Administrator" once you have activated the Administrator account.

Hello Robert Lee. I see this post is from roughly 2 years ago. Is this still the case? Does the user still need to use the actual Administrator account when installing ION Setup? Or has this been remedied already?
Thank you !

Almost every application now requires Administrator access in some form in order to operate on non-obsolete operating systems now (cyber-security has made this a necessity in all industries). ION Setup still does not support UAC so you need to have administrator privileges prior to beginning the install. However, once ION Setup has been installed properly, you no longer require to use an account that has administrator privileges to *use* ION Setup subsequently (assuming the PC/OS has been set up normally).

Hi Robert,
I have a small problem with ION Setup Version 3.1.19213.03. When creating a MicroLogic ULP/IFE Circuit Breaker a message appears that the directory ..\ION Setup\TABLES\ULPBREAKER\LV434011 does not exist. The directory ..\LV434011 was also not installed.
I get the message ..\ION Setup\TABLES\MLBREAKER\LV434011 not available for the type MicroLogic Circuit Breaker.
Is there a solution? Many thanks in advance
Kind regards
Lars

Hello Lars,
If you right click on the device -> Properties -> Display, Can you select the device type? Are you sure the Micrologic is IFE or ULP? This will default the device ID to 255.

Hello Charles,
yes, I can select the display type and it is a Micrologic E connected to the ULP bus via an IFE (LV434011). The Modbus ID is 255 and I can read the data in the PME 9 completely.
This may be due to the fact that the corresponding directory does not exist in my ION setup installation. I installed the current version again on another computer and even there the searched directories are missing.

Hello Lars,
ION Setup is trying to read the device type but the gateway is replying rather than sending the request to the breaker and having the breaker inform ION Setup what the device is. When you changed the display to Micologic E, did anything change?

Support for the MicroLogic trip units in ION Setup is highly restricted. It is only added to satisfy detection of the device and provide some preliminary support for QA purposes for our =S= switchgear manufacturing plants. ION Setup is not meant to allow users to configure/view data from those device (unlike PME).
