I have some problems with the IP address on my EGX300. I want to reset it. But I don't find the procedure in the manual.

Dear Angell,
That means you lost the IP address of EGX300 ? You can use the procedure below
1. Download and install Wireshark as link http://www.wireshark.org/download.html
2. Set IP of your PC is 192.168.2.1 (Or what ever you want )
3. Power up EGX
4. Start/All program/Wireshark
5.Choose Capture/Interfaces
6.Choose the Ethernet network card which you will connect to EGX ( Normally, choose Local Area Network ). click Start
7. Connect the Straight cable from LAN port to Ethernet port of EGX
8. The Wireshark will display the information packages,
9. Wait 3 second , and click Capture/Stop
10. Check the information packages display, find the package with SQUARE D in collumb Source, check the Info collumb "Info" for IP ( Example: 42 Gratuitous ARP for xxx.xxx.xxx.xx), xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP of EGX300.
11. Close all, change IP of PC as the IP class of EGX.
12. Ping to check it fine

I used Wireshark and i got the IP addrees, the problem is that I ping the IP addrees, it has comunnication with the computer but then when I want to open the page in the internet explorer I have the problem of "page not found". And the proxy is desactivated and the wifi connection too. I have the correct IP addrees on my computer. So I don't know what could be the problem. Since that I want to reset the EGX300.

Dear Angell,
Have you tried another Web browser ( Google Chrome, Firefox ) ?
Are you make sure that you're using as config ?
Have you tried disable another Network card ( include Network for VMWare if yes )
The last, try with another PC for this case.

We had this issue last month. The EGX had a faulty Ethernet port. 😞

Hi Angell, Looks like compatibility issue , Try using Google Chrome it should work fine.

I don't think so, because before I had answer using tje internet explorer but when I changed the IP adrees. I couldn't open it again.

At your point #7 it should be Crossed Ethernet cable in case of direct connection (see below #2). I appreciate your answer.

IP address itself seems not to be your problem.
If EGX300 is answering to ping ... are you sure it's EGX300 that answers?
Web Server supposed not working for HTTP, have you tried FTP?
It may happen to be browser related issue: clear the entire browser's cache: (delete history completely);
Try to access the EGX web server from a different computer.
Check the front face of EGX and see the Power and Status LED; how fast is blinking? See the User's Manual chapter referring to duplicate IP detection.
Check the other LEDs especially those for Ethernet communication.
Anything abnormal there, please refer to technical support, mention the FW and DU versions.

Have you tried adding that IP to the list of trusted sites on your browser? I've had to do that for some EGXs before to get the webpage to load

Hi Angell,
The reset procedures for an EGX300 is slightly roundabout to ensure no casual user can "accidentally" wipe off a device when installed in field.
First you will need a serial port and TCSEAK0100 configuration kit. This will come with the serial DB9 to RJ45 converter and the ethernet crossover cable to connect to the EGX300's RS232 port. Alternatively, if you are good with your hands, you can use a FTDI USB-RS232-WE-1800-BT_0.0 and wire the loose ends into an RJ45 connect with the correct pinouts as documented in the EGX300 installation guide,
I have made one myself for easy field work, the loose ends on the FTDI converter to the RJ45 connector is
1 - N.C.
2 - N.C.
3 - N.C.
4 - Black
5 - Orange
6 - Yellow
7 - Green
8 - Brown
After doing all this, you will be ready to do carry out the reset. First, plug in the USB to RS232 converter to let Windows install the driver, download an application called Putty, this is a SSH / Telnet client as if you use Windows 7 and above, you will not have the HTTP Terminal for you to access the reset screen. Download putty from Download PuTTY - a free SSH and telnet client for Windows
Goto your "device manager" and check the installed USB to RS232 converter has the correct baud rate and parity settings,
Power down the EGX300 and connect the RJ45 RS232 connector into the EGX300. After which, you can launch the Putty SSH / Telnet shell application and set to serial port access,
Click on "open" and you will see a black terminal screen replace the above interface,
Power on the EGX300 and wait for the LED beside the spanner icon in the front of the EGX300 starts to blink very quickly, Hit "Enter" and just keep hitting "Enter" until you see the following screen appear (if you do not and the EGX300 LED stops blinking rapidly, power off the entire unit and restart, it may take a few tries),
Select "8" and then confirm with "1" and you will be able to reset the IP address interface back to factory defaults.
Hope this helps!

Hello,
I would also like to reset all parameters to factory default and also remove the devices and logging's.
I have found a procedure to do a factory reset:
How to do factory default setting (Master Reset) including the IP address of EGX100, EGX300.
A master reset to an Ethernet Gateway (EGX) will reset all settings to the factory default settings including the IP address. For the EGX100 and EGX300 the default IP address is 169.254.0.10. You can use Modscan software or some other Modbus TCP/IP program to send the master reset. For the EGX100 and EGX300 use address 254 and write decimal 9030 to register 2800. Once you have sent this register command to the EGX you will have to cycle power to reboot the processor.
But his does not work, same for pressing the reset button for 10 seconds...
Device is on last firmware 4.461 and Disk image 4.460
Regards
Koen

To reset the EGX300 to defaults, there are two commands to use. The commands must be done in this order.
Using the EGX300 command register (register 2800), execute the following commands:
Command 7010 - Reset Disk On Chip to factory default
Command 9030 - Reset Registers to factory default
After resetting the Disk on Chip to factory default, you will have to apply the disk update (*.upd file) to get the latest files for the Disk on Chip.

Hi,
I got an EGX300 from a client that got a problem while upgrading the firmware. After that the client was unable to access to the web page.
I followed the procedure you described and got that the EGX ip address is 0.0.0.0.
Also i tried to connect to the RS232 port as Kuan Khoon TAN mentioned, but i without success.
Any advices or suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Daniel Quinde

You mention the client had an issue during the firmware upgrade. Did the EGX300 lose power during the upgrade process (or unplugged by the user before the upgrade was complete)? If this is the case, the EGX300 will no longer be functional and will have to be returned to the factory. The wireshark shown above does not seem to include the EGX300. The MAC address is not from one of our devices (ours start with 00:80:67).

Yes, the EGX lost power in the midle of the upgrade process.
And the capture of the wireshark was made by connecting an ethernet cable from my PC directly to the EGX. And i only get traffic when i connect that cable to my PC so it's weird that the mac address didn't match. So i guess i should return that EGX to the factory to be checked.
Thanks for your feedback Randi

Oh my goodness. That's the worst case scenario when it comes to upgrading firmware - loss of power mid-way though firmware upgrade process.
That is why when I upgrade EGX300 firmware en-mass, I'll basically power them up using 2 x 12V lead-acid batteries to ensure they will not be power down externally and also keep them mounted on DIN rails to minimise possibility of jarring the connectors off accidentally as the connectors are push fit.
Hope you got the unit fixed by factory soon.
