ABOUT THE PM8000 DELIVERED ENERGY VALUE

Dears hello ,

Energy Delivered parameters like kWh on PM8000 is return 0 after 9999 kWH value.

Is it normal? I have searched the user manual , but there is no any limitation. Can he see the delivered energy value bigger than 9999?

Thanks for your help.

Best Regards,

Ayşegül

Hi Ayşegül,

I don't believe there's a way to edit the rollover value through the front panel display, or through the web server. You can issue resets through the display though.

ION Setup is a free software that can be downloaded from here; https://www.se.com/us/en/product-range-presentation/61461-ion-setup-3.0/

Nathaniel Dunn

Hello Ayşegül,

Yes, it can be set for a value higher than 9,999 kWhs.

The rollover value is adjustable, and can be found in the Setup Assistant under the Metering Setup Assistant and Rollover tab for the FAC 2.2 template.

These registers can be found in the integrator modules under setup registers tab if navigating using the advanced mode of ION Setup. It is recommended to use a maximum rollover value of 10,000,000. Which equates to a maximum value of 9,999,999.

Regards,

Nathaniel Dunn

Dear Nathaniel

Thank you so much for your answer.

Can we make retated setting on display without using ION setup?

Where can I reach the related settings on display?

@AYSEGUL The default configuration for the PM8000 energy roll-over is 10 million kWh (10 000 000 kWh), and NOT 10 000 kWh.

  1. Did you make custom configuration changes or load a custom configuration template?
If you do need to change the default energy rollover values, do NOT use "advanced mode of ION Setup" for this. Instead, use ION Setup's "Setup Assistant" wizard: "Metering Setup" | "Rollover" to configure all the integrator rollover setup configurations at once

  2. How are you performing the register reads to observe "return 0 after 9999 kWH value" - is it with ION protocol, Modbus, DNP, IEC61850, integrated or remote display, web pages, email, other? If you have not customized the PM8000 configuration, most likely the behavior you see is a result of software and/or protocol configuration.

I have the same problem, The default rollover was 10 000 000, and I try to change to 10 000 000 000, hopefully the energy reading not reset to zero again

Hello @aannas88 ,

The energy values in the meter are sent over communication as 32 bit floating numbers. At the numbers get larger, the precision of the number decreases. If the customer is okay with a drop in communicated precision then they do that with informed consent. over ~16 million, the 32 format can no longer give individual kwh. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single-precision_floating-point_format for more information.

Note that internal to the meter energy is calculated with 64 bit floating point numbers. Outside of the integrator module is 32 bit floating point.

Regards

Charles

The metering was installed for Ball Mill motor 6.5 MWH that running 24 hour/day, and suppose not to reset the energy meter.

I will be monitoring data reading, Thanks for the advice

Hello @aannas88 ,

Eventually the meter will reset energy values, 6.5 MWh running 24 hours a day 7 days a week will still roll over after ~640 days. Perhaps the customer could look at having the energy roll over at specific times such as the start of each year.

Regards,

Charles
