Background With the introduction of Modicon Communication Server 2.0 (MCS), there are now a few ways of accessing Modicon Controller via OPC UA. Although MCS is made for use in AVEVA System Platform (ASP), MCS also open a way for any 3rd part OPC UA Clients to come right in. All control projects require some level of time synchronization. The time synchronization serves a fundamental role in any network, but it's too often added as an afterthought. However, it can mean the difference between correctly troubleshooting in minutes and returning the production to the desired level or having no idea about what caused production lost. The Network Time Protocol is a client-server protocol and has been widely adopted in all kind of Industries since 1985. It is a low-cost solution that can be easily applied for all EcoStruxure Process Expert architectures.

How to Enable Native Citect Scada OPC DA Server on EcoStruxure Process Expert? In EcoStruxure Process Expert 2019 (former HDCS) and previous versions the communication between the supervision participant Citect Scada and Modicon PAC controllers are handle by OFS – OPC Factory Server. The OFS is an OPC DA Server which is installed in the same server as the EPE operation server(s). Whenever a third-party software needs to collect data from EPE it can be done by connecting to OFS Server in either primary or standby operation server. This solution using OFS Server as an unique OPC DA Server to interface with other system works fine but some customers standard or customers best practice doesn’t allow other systems to collect data direct from the controllers. These customers prefer third-party software collecting data from the supervision servers. Another motivating force to have an OPC DA server enabled on supervision participant is that some projects could have calculate variables on supervision which does not exist on control project...

This knowledge base document do not intend to explain how to create a EPE supervision project but to give best practice advises on how to customize a EPE project based on General Purpose Library – GPL Situational Awareness. Software versions used in the kb: EcoStruxure Hybrid DCS 2019. GPL SA R2. This kb also apply to EcoStruxure Process Expert 2020 and further versions based on GPL SA. Issue EcoStruxure Control Expert doesn't provide Double length real calculation functions. Resolution This library performs Long real calculation using an array type LREAL of 2 Dword, where the long real is coded using IEEE 754 format. The zip file attached contains the library, a FBD section to test the library and a tool allowing to convert the IEEE 754 format (useful to make the test) Be aware that all the controls are not performed when overflow happens, so use the library with care, mainly when you perform type conversions. Issue This document shows how to integrate Aquis into ClearSCADA. With this integration, an operator would have access to the monitoring information coming from SCADA as well as simulation information coming from the hydraulic model. This will allow him to analyze the behavior of his network and forecast the impact of the operational activities. The EcoStruxue Web Services data connection is used to facilitate data exchange between Aquis and ClearSCADA. The operator will be able to access the Aquis model directly on ViewX. Issue When a TeSysT is created from the Topology Manager in EcoStruxure Hybrid DCS, the DTM of the Generic Modbus Device is automatically added. This cannot be used to parametize the TeSysT inside EcoStruxure Hybrid DCS and other tools such as web interfaces or SoMove are required for this purpose Resolution The document attached describes the necessary steps to integrate the TeSysT Device DTM in EcoStruxure Hybrid DCS and connect it to the GPL TeSysT DFB. Hence, we will be able to parametize the TeSysT as if it were with SoMove.
