Highest Possible VA from a 15amp UPS?
I think I posted this in the wrong section earlier...
Can anyone tell me what the highest VA is that I can get from a 15amp UPS?
Also I've got a APC UPS Model# DLA1500, was just wondering where I could get a replacement battery for this for cheap?
Thanks,
G

Here's an article I wrote some time ago on how to assemble bare batteries into one of the most common APC RBC, APC RBC7 compatible pack.

In place of Plastic Weld, I tried Gorilla glue and it too works very good, however you need to lay the batteries on the side and secure the two halves with tapes so they don't slide around while the glue is curing.

The SUM units have the highest output rating in terms of watts.
http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SUM1500RMXL2U
The DLA1500 uses an RBC7.

Other spec pages that I saw for different UPS units had a specification saying they were 15 amps, where can I find out how many amps these ones are (The one you mentioned above and others like it)?

A UPS is rated (per electrical code) for 80% of its plug type. So, that UPS that was posted by EZ Button, the SUM1500RMXL2U, has a 15 amp plug (the 5-15 indicates 15 amps - 5-20 would be 20 amps) on it so it is rated for 12 amps for the output. (80% of 15 amps)
Thus, a UPS with a 20 amp plug is rated for 16 amps.
Hope that answers your question.

The DLA 1500 is 1440VA/980W which assumes 0.7 power factor. With the introduction of 80Plus program and environmental awareness, many computers today have a power factor exceeding 0.95.
So, the permissible load is 1440VA or 980W, whichever is lower, depending on load power factor. If you have servers with PFC, you will only get about 1000VA/980W.
I always get replacement batteries from Gruber Power Services in Arizona through eBay. You can find their stuff through eBay or call them at
800-658-5883
Although if you're buying one or two sets, buying from them on eBay is the best way. I'm sure you can find others with similar deal, although be aware of dealers with old stock.
