Re:Smart UPS 1500 VA Rack-Mount 120VAC
Hi
The Company I work for purchased a new Smart UPS 1500 VA Rack-Mount 120VAC.
I am having an issue with the UPS shutting down and giving an error P.01 (Output Short Circuit) when the load gets to 50%.
The UPS is connected to several devices.
When the facility power is switched off the ups reacts as follows.
With all devices on in standby mode the UPS is drawing the following.
260W
29%
345VA
2.9A
Estimated runtime 41 Min.
UPS status : Counting down the minutes.
With the devices load turned on one at a time.
The UPS reaction is good until the Load gets in the following region. (I tried turning on devices in Different sequences in case their was an issue with one device.)
378W
51%
720W
5.8A
Estimated time 19 Minutes.
At this load the UPS does not get close the the 19 min. It shuts down after 1 min and gives the error P.01.
The UPS itself also seems a bit noisy.
I tried to look in the Configuration settings of the UPS. To see if there is a limit setting, But I could not get access to
the settings. I pressed/held the mute and menu buttons but it did not work.
UPS :SMC1500-2U, Serial AS1333219719.
If you have any suggestions on how to resolve my issue please let me know.
With the Facilty power turned on to the UPS everything works as normal.

Unfortunately, this sounds like it could be a hardware problem unless one of your pieces of load had some type of massive inrush current. What is the load by the way?
Assuming there is no problem with inrush current with any particular piece of attached equipment, then I'd suggest contacting tech support to verify what I mentioned and then it is likely that they may need to replace the UPS under factory warranty unless an issue with massive inrush current sounds like it could be the case.
