Subscription Overview

The Subscription Overview page on the Web Portal provides details of your SmartConnect plan status and expiry date for your connected Smart-UPS.   Promotion: One-year (1Y) and three-year (3Y) Advanced plans are subject to volume and activation promotion. Volume purchases generate additional free licenses. Learn more about the  promotion here.   SmartConnect Plans All newly registered Smart-UPS devices on-board to the Standard plan for a free trial of 6 months. This includes older SmartConnect-compatible devices that you may have previously installed, but never registered. Use the supplied Ethernet cable to discover how to connect and register your devices to SmartConnect cloud monitoring.    Standard Plan is the benchmark for remote UPS power monitoring of your power status and operational health from any internet connected mobile, tablet or computer. Digital registration of assets allows you to track inventory and device age, download operational reports and renewal forecasts, run any firmware upgrades that are released. During the trial period, full unlimited Standard Plan features are available: Remote UPS monitoring Optional two-factor authentication  Downloadable asset and inventory reports  Remote UPS Firmware push to your UPS, with one-click remote installation via the Web Portal Remote self-test and audible alarm diagnostics Event Log up to 30 days to track noisy devices, and locations that show frequent power events   Automated email notifications Redirecting emails into Teams or Slack messages  Remote adjustment of UPS sensitivity to input voltage changes Device Sharing with up to 5 other users  Set or change battery installation date from cloud   Advanced Plan -  Remote power-cycling of equipment. This plan includes all features of the Standard Plan, with the addition of: Remote outlet-group-reboot to power cycle or reset equipment Guidance on how to place your essential and non-essential loads on your UPS outlet groups Customizing outlet group names to track how equipment is placed Setting Load Shedding for time-on-battery operations - to maximize uptime for essential loads. The Standard and Advanced plans (and trial) are considered paid plans. SmartConnect is designed with a distributed IT landscape in mind, to reduce the need for site visits. All remote configurations of the UPS and full, remote firmware upgrade management are on paid (or Trial) plans. Basic monitoring does not offer the same remote configuration and management capabilities.    Basic Monitoring:  When your initial free monitoring period (Standard plan Trial) expires, we recommend you start a  paid Standard plan or upgrade to an Advanced plan, based on your needs. If you choose not to, your device will revert to a Basic Monitoring plan, and you cannot avail of the features described above. On-site, the Smart-UPS continues to protect the connected load locally, and can be monitored from the LCD screen, while it remains cloud-connected.   Connected devices on the Basic plan can use:  Remote UPS Monitoring Two-factor authentication Downloadable device reports Automated firmware distribution to your UPS with local installation via LCD. Shared devices remain shared, but viewing is locked unless the device is restored to a paid plan. On Basic Monitoring, firmware is still distributed to your UPS, however, you must now initiate firmware updates locally from the UPS. You will no longer receive notifications for this device, events will no longer be recorded in the Event Log, and you can no longer perform UPS diagnostic tests.  To reactivate full access to the Web Portal, you must buy a Standard plan or upgrade to the new Advanced plan.       NOTES: Devices that are not on a Standard or Advanced plan can still be monitored on the dashboard view. Standard and Advanced plans allow remote installation for automatically distributed firmware. Without a paid plan, you must initiate firmware upgrades locally from the UPS device. Device sharing with up to 5 other users is possible for devices on paid plans   Advanced Plan Promotion Plans available for promotion: Advanced 1Y Plan for EcoStruxure IT SmartConnect Advanced 3Y Plan for EcoStruxure IT SmartConnect Compare plan features and learn how volume purchase of licenses can generate additional free licenses here.   Promotional offer 1. Two months extra for every paid year When you activate a 1-year license, you will receive 2 additional months of your Advanced plan for free. When you activate a 3-year license you will receive 6 additional months of your Advanced plan for free.    2. Two extra licenses for every 10 with the addition of 2 months extra for every paid year Every increment of 10 licenses of the same plan (1Y Advanced or 3Y Advanced) will be eligible for two additional licenses. When you activate the licenses and assign them to Smart-UPS devices on the Web Portal, each device gets the additional free term applied automatically. See how free licenses are awarded with your purchase: smartconnect.apc.com/pricing.   Applying a license Online purchases may be automatically or manually activated depending on how you buy your license. If you receive an activation code via email, the bonus term is automatically applied when you assign a license to a device.   NOTES: This promotion is available in 2025 and it may end without further separate notice.  Terms apply for RMA devices. Promotional licenses and term cannot be converted to monetary refunds.

In the Subscriptions page, select a Standard or Advanced plan for your device, and click the Buy button. This will redirect you to Schneider Electric Exchange. In the Create Order page, your chosen plan will be pre-selected. Click Continue to Payment. In the Payment & Billing page, confirm payment by credit card and enter your details. Click Continue. In the Confirmation page, verify that the displayed information is correct, paying particular attention to the Subscription Information. Confirm that you agree to the terms and conditions, and click Confirm Order.   Multiple Devices:   In the Subscription Overview page in the Web Portal, click the Buy Plan button in the Go Shopping section. On the Configure your plan page, select a Plan, Duration and Quantity (max 50). The Total Cost will appear once this is done. Click Next. In the Create Order page, your chosen plan will be pre-selected and it’s quantity. Click Continue to Payment. In the Payment & Billing page, confirm payment by credit card and enter your details. Click Continue. In the Confirmation page, verify that the displayed information is correct, paying particular attention to the Subscription Information. Confirm that you agree to the terms and conditions, and click Confirm Order. Your activation code will be emailed to the email address you provided when purchasing. Your code can then be activated on the Activate a code section of the Subscription Overview page and will unlock the quantity of entitlements that you selected. NOTES: You can manage all your purchases in My Digital Library in Schneider Electric Exchange.

Activate your SmartConnect Subscription

If you have purchased your subscription through a local reseller, you will receive your activation code via email.   Follow the steps below to activate one or multiple subscriptions in the Web Portal:   In the Subscription Overview page, click the Activate Code button and enter the Activation Code you received via email. In the Your activated plans dialog, verify that the correct plan is displayed. Click Next. In the Assign to device dialog, select one or more devices from the list and click Next to assign your plan to the selected device(s). In the Confirm assigned plan dialog, ensure that your details are correct and click Confirm.  NOTE: Once you have assigned a plan to a device, you cannot change it.   5.  In the Success dialog, you will receive acknowledgment that your plan has successfully been assigned to your chosen device.   NOTES: SmartConnect appends an extension license term to ensure that your new license starts on the expiration of your current one. For example, Standard-to-Standard, or Advanced-to-Advanced. An upgrade license is also offered by SmartConnect if you wish to upgrade from the Standard plan to the Advanced. The Advanced plan will start immediately. You can also assign to a lower license, for example from the Advanced plan to the Standard. The Standard plan starts once the Advanced license has fully expired.

Frequently Asked Questions about SmartConnect Subscriptions

What happens if I don’t buy a Standard plan?   If your device’s free monitoring period has expired and you do not buy a Standard or Advanced plan, your device will move to Basic Monitoring and remain visible on the dashboard. You will no longer be able to perform UPS diagnostic tests, or remotely install UPS firmware via the web portal. Events for this device will no longer be recorded in the Event Log nor will any configured alerts be sent.   NOTE: If your device is on Basic Monitoring, the UPS will continue to support its connected load. However, new events will no longer be logged to the Event Log and you will not receive notifications for configured events. You can log into the web portal at any time to view the health and operating status of your Smart-UPS. It is highly recommended you buy a plan to continue receiving notifications for critical UPS events.    What happens if I don’t buy an Advanced plan?   If you do not buy an Advanced plan for your device, you will not have access to remote outlet group reboot features and you will not be able to configure Load Shedding.   I purchased a plan in Schneider Electric Exchange, why has the web portal not updated yet?   Plan changes may take up to 24 hours to update in the web portal.   What is the difference between purchasing a Standard plan and an Extended Warranty?   If you buy a Standard plan for your device, you will avail of the Web Portal’s features, including receiving alerts, remotely upgrading your UPS firmware, and performing diagnostic tests on your UPS. An Extended Warranty protects against product issues beyond the original factory warranty period. You receive additional benefits including Technical Support for device-related queries, expedited shipping of UPS and parts, and free return shipping for used parts.
