"Not Available" in Total Compensated measurements not logging, why?

Hi all!

We are using the loss compensation framework in several ION8650 meters, and we are facing a singular situation that we want to understand better.

We have the document "Transformer / line loss calculations" and use the "Transformer loss only" section. The data from the test sheet is below:

So when we verify the readings in NORMAL mode it show as "not available", like below:

but if we verify it in TEST mode, the values are shown, like below:

BUT, if we put those parameters in an ION8500 meter, it shows values in kW total compensated but shows "not available" only in kVAR total compensated. This behavior occurs in both normal or test mode verification. The big problem is that when it shows "not available", it stops logging the data in revenue log, as shown below in kVARh comp d int:

Thanks in advance!!!!!

Each default Setup Assistant is matched up with a corresponding default device template.  If you customize either, then some type of customization is required.

Looking at the factory 8650 Setup Assistant, it seems for Normal mode, its attempting to show the 2 output registers from the Arithmetic 24 module:

;kW Compensation

Tab1Reg1Tab4Group3Display6=0,0x4A8F

Tab1Reg1Tab4Group3Display6Label=Total Compensated

;kVAR Compensation

Tab1Reg1Tab4Group4Display6=0,0x4AA1

Tab1Reg1Tab4Group4Display6Label=Total Compensated

Verify the formulas and inputs are set properly:

Hold down <Shift> when clicking on the "Inputs" tab and it will show present values (make sure none are N/A).

This is likely either an incorrect Setup Assistant reference (likely caused by framework customization) or some issue within the device's template configuration (either inputs or setup register values).

Hello @Ezequiel-PROLUX

Did you still need help with this?  Regarding the N/A, you are correct that VA rated * Imp has to be larger than LWCu in order to calculate the LVCu.

As for showing values in test mode vs normal vs Advanced I will need to know a few more details.

Hi Robert!

Thanks!

For the ION8650 I am using the offline template, ION8650AV403_Offlinemeter.exe

I was digging around to find what calculation was throwing the N/A, and I found it in the arithmetic 8 - W+VARCuLoss1.

I am following the document 70072-0153-08 in the "transformer loss only" section, that says to leave kVA rated in 0.

But if I do so, the values are like follow:

Using like 150kVA for the kVA rated and keeping other values, the result is like follow:

the setup registers are the same.

The test sheet used this data:

I noticed that we need errorflag = 1 for this function work, but the S4² is much greater than S3*1000*S5/100, so the SQRT is negative.

Is probably a limit of losses for compensation to work?

I noticed that we need to have:

kVA rated*%Imp*10 > LWCu Test

But we have a top limit for %Imp and LWCu Test that are not necessary related as the calculation require.

There is a regulation followed by Schneider on this topic?

One thing that is very curious, is that if I look in TEST  MODE it show values for the "Total Compensated" in both kW and kVAR, but in NORMAL MODE or in Advanced Mode for ION Setup it shows N/A. Keeping those test sheet values that we know aren't OK.

Hi Charles.

No, later I founded a guide to configure losses on ION8650 and the formula was there too.

With Lee's help I could recognize that the input data was wrong.

Thanks.
