PM8000 control on NSX Circuit Breakers

Hi,

We would like to control the NSX circuit breakers as Modbus slaves from a PM8000.

Any advise/gotchas in this setup?

Thank you.

Regards,
Arneil

Hello @Arneil_Dalope ,

I have a similar configuration in my Lab that is working fine. I use a ION9000 but it will be the same for PM8000.

Just ensure that you have set up you ION meter as a "Modbus Master". You can check this by the web page or ION Setup.

If you connect your system to EPC : All IFMs slaves connected to the ION Meters will be discovered.

Please check also the serial settings of your IFMs. Modbus SL Auto Link Adapt can be activated.

From this point : you will be able to send write command to the NSX.

Regards,

Romain

Hello @Arneil_Dalope ,

One addition to what Romain said is that the PM8000 needs to have the modbus gateway function enabled. This can be found in the Modbus Master Options module. You will want to configure the serial connection 1 to Com1, then enable the gateway to Serial connection 1.

If you are asking about having the PM8000 send the series of commands to the breaker without software, this would not work.

Regards,

Charles

I have just do something similar sending kW reading to big LED display using Modbus from the ION7400.

You need to set com1 to Modbus Master protocol then use Modbus Export module sending data.

If you want to write something to Modbus device be you have disable reading. If the Modbus Master module are used it need to be disable prior to write. The pending logic of the Modbus Export Module plus And/Or Module to disable/enable the Modbus Master module.
