PM8000 Power Factor as -1 and 1

Hi Team,

We are having 350+ PM8000 installed at site.
Currently If we see Power Factor on PME it shows in percentage (%).

As mentioned, in PM8000 manual we can have as -1 and 1 or as a percentage from -100% to 100%.

Power factor (PF)

I have tried searching for settings, but unable to find any.

I am aware of the process that opening framework in designer & adding extra modules to converter this to -1 to 1, but as meter quantity is huge it takes lots of time to configure for all meters.

May I know any better possible solution or some setting in ION setup?

Thanks & Regards

Sushant Belote

Hello @Sushant_Belote,

I did some digging and now understand where the comment is coming from. On the display of the PM8000 meter, PF is -1 to 1. The displays take readings from ION handles then divides by 100 in the display code. PME reads ION handles that are in % values. There is no setting inside the meter to switch how the ION handles are read.

Regards,

Charles

Hello @Sushant_Belote ,

I am guessing you saw the post about setting from ION Reference. This document spans multiple ION meters and not all ION meters have the same settings or registers. For PM8000 meters, there is no way to change the PF value from percent to -1 to 1 as a setting. Given these are ION meters, it is possible to make a framelet that takes the PF reading and divides by 100. If you save this framelet in designer, you could then paste this framelet onto other meters in designer. Note that framelet is a piece of a temple, not entire meter's framework/template. In Designer, select the modules desired to be copied, and select edit -> Paste to framework.

Regards,

Charles

Hi @Charles_Murison

I have seen this in PM8000 online guide, so I assume there must be some settings.

I have shared the link in original post also, sharing again.

Power factor (PF)

I am aware the fact that creating framelet & pasting into each meter from designer, but I thought changing settings will be much easier, so I have posted.

Thanks & Regards
