How to set NTP Server on ION 7650

Dear Technical Community,

How to configure the NTP Server on ION 7650?

  1. What should be the entry on the NTP Server Settings textbox? Is it the IP address of the NTP Server (e.g., 10.186.20.23)?
  2. Can we save the settings online? Or does it require restarting the PQM for the settings to take effect?
  3. Are there any other settings aside from this (refer to attached screenshot)?

Thanks for your support.

Regards

Hi @RPayumo

Please note that the ION7650 meter is obsolete and has limited support.

As Sushant mentioned, accessing the meter using ION Setup is recommended, as some parameters may not be available through the meter's webpage.

Here are the steps to configure NTP Server on ION7650 using using ION Setup:

  • Connect to the ION7650 using ION Setup software.
  • Navigate to Communications > Advanced Ethernet > NTP
  • Enable NTP Time Sync
  • Set Time Sync Type to UTC.
  • Set Time Sync Source to Ethernet.
  • Enter the NTP Server Address: In the NTP Server Settings textbox, enter the IP address of your NTP server(e.g., 10.186.20.23). You can also use a domain name like pool.ntp.org if DNS is configured correctly.
  • Set the Sync Interval which specifies the frequency at which the meter attempts time synchronization via NTP. (e.g., every 24 hours). NOTE: References to NTP should be interpreted as SNTP.
  • In 'Clock' folder, set the 'CL1 Clock Source' (which defines how the meter’s internal clock auto-corrects drift from its internally calculated time) to 'Internal'.
  • The settings are saved online via ION Setup, and no restart is required for the NTP settings to take effect.

Best Regards,

-Mehran

Hi @RPayumo

1. Server IP address or domain name- Specifies the IP address (or fully qualified domain name if DNS is active) of the NTP server.

2. To take NTP settings in effect meter need not to restart.

3. Suggest changing such configurations from ION setup (Free Utility) ION Setup Latest Release | Schneider Electric

Thanks & Regards
