PM5350 Sliding Window Demand - half hour logging

Hi,

A PM5350 is being as a main meter with the Billing Module. It needs to be configured to do have sliding window demand (kVA) over 30 minute intervals instead of (default) 15 minute intervals.

If PME software logging is set to 30 minutes for the Block Demand kVA parameter (quantity id 37 in PME), will the parameter logged be 30 minute SWD kVA, or will it be 15 minute SWD kVA every 30 minutes?

In ION Setup, device setup select Demand Setup -> Power Demand -> Periods/Sub-Interval can change it from 15 minutes to 30 minutes.

I believe you can also do it via the front panel display as well.

Using SW logging for billing purposes is probably not a good idea.  If logged data is required for billing purposes then use on-board logging so the data will be accurately logged right on the interval boundary.

SW logging does *not* log on the interval boundary.  It periodically polls the list of realtime registers and the last value read before the interval boundary is what is logged.  Depending how the device driver is configured this could be a realtime value from several minutes before the interval boundary.

The SWD intervals are independent.  Thus if you need 30 min intervals then change the meter configuration to be 30 minutes.  Logging the 15 minute interval every 30 minutes will only give a picture of what happened in the previous 15 minutes (ie 15 minutes will be missing).

@Ramasamy_N , do you know of a way to change the demand windows from 15 to 30 minutes?

Regards,

Charles

Yes, Charles,

We can change the demand interval from 1 to 60 minutes using ION setup or meter HMI. The demand value will be calculated and updated every 15 seconds (if the demand interval is less than 15 minutes) or updated every 60 seconds (if the demand interval is more than 15 minutes)

Regards,

Ramasamy N
