Monitoring of multiple connections in energy meter

Hello, I would like to know if there is to know the connections (queries) that a meter has at any given time. For example:

2 masters consulting via ION protocol: IP 1.1.1.1 and 1.1.1.2
1 master consulting via DNP3: IP 1.1.1.3
1 master consulting via RS-485: IP 1.1.1.4

Context: Currently in a project there are multiple connections due to network permissions that had been authorized long ago without any control. Currently, many people (different SCADAs or masters) consult the meters simultaneously and this causes the main SCADA to lose data due to excessive connections when the limit of simultaneous users is reached. What I would like is to know if I can consult the IPs or protocols that the meter is consulting to be able to track and block them, so that only authorized personnel can consult the energy meter.

I hope I have explained myself correctly, if you have any other questions regarding the application, please let me know.

Greetings.

Hello @danielbarrantes ,

Depending on the meter and firmware version, you may be able to get some of this information via terminal session. One item to note, the terminal session will drop a connection if meter is full so not always able to tell if meter is using all connections or 1 less than all.

For ION meters, connect to the meter with Telnet or SSH, this may need to be enabled on the meter. Then issue command EDS . The result should be a table of all the current connections to the meter including port numbers.

Hope this is able to give you what you need.

Regards,

Charles

Hello Charles, I tried what you indicate, I did it through the PuTTY console, however when I enter the console it shows me what you can see in the following image:

I assume that I have to enter the access credentials, which, according to the following link, are "8650" if I have standard security or "UserXX" if I have advanced security, however when entering those credentials it does not allow me access and therefore, I can't execute the "n" command you suggested.

I currently have firmware V4.40.1, as the above link suggests.

Hello @danielbarrantes ,

I will admit that I do not use PUTTY much, my preferred program is Tera Term. In the meter, to able to connect with ION Setup, you will need to enable SSH terminal.

If you are able to connect to the meter, you would see something like the following, (this was after the Tera term login screen):
