cannot uninstall powerchute personal on vista

im having the same problems as previous users. i just installed powerchute personal 2.0 i think from a cd that came with my battery backup, and now that ive downloaded the vista version, i cannot uninstall the old one.

pretty much the same problem as the guy from this thread: Referenced content removed

if someone could email me or post exact instructions on how to uninstall this powerchute version from vista i would really appreciate it. thanks!

Could someone please send the uninstall instructions for Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2. I had to unplug the USB cable from the APC to stop it from popping up a screen saying "The Specified Module Could Not Be Found" repeatedly every few seconds one on top of the other. Thanks in advance.

I am uninstalling it because it does not offer email notification?! Why on earth does it not offer email notification?!

I have a Back-UPS Pro 1300 (not even listed on your site/software downloads...what gives?) and need email notification. I have seen some other people suggest installing PCBE to get email notification...will PCBE work with the BU Pro 1300?

Hi erikcocomo, if you are looking for the manual removal instructions I can PM over then to you. Otherwise the windows uninstaller (under control panel) should just work fine.

As for the unit itself, if you could get the full model number of the UPS (typically located on the bottom or the back of the unit) we can see if your unit can use PCBE. In general back ups units only use PCPE while units from the smart ups line would use PCBE. Email notification is built into out business class of software products (PCBE) as an alternative to NMC cards and PCNS software.

Also, I will submit that suggestion to my superiors to included an uninstall with our software to make the removal of our software easier.

on a Mac, the uninstall file is included in the installer file. i would suggest downloading powerchute personal edition again to open the disk image and just running uninstall.sh or whatever it is called for the uninstall.

They don't post it mostly because the instructions aren't very useful.

The instructions contain information about manual removal of ONLY the application, NOT the APC UPS driver that causes BSODs (bugcode_usb_driver) (at least in Windows 2003 x64).

Moreover, those manual application removal instructions are only useful if the automatic uninstallation program failed, (which it doesn't)

On the contrary, the APC UPS driver removal would be far more useful.

So here are the instructions for APC driver removal I found useful:

1.) just uninstall the application from add & remove programs or do it manually according to the APC instructions
2.) restart
3.) go to device manager
4.) click on Battery --> APC UPS
5.) click on the "driver" tab
6.) click on "Roll Back Driver" button until it rolls back to "HID UPS Battery"

Those APC PM instructions are useless.

Thank you, but the instructions must have been for XP/Vista 32. The folderrs and reg keys were somewhere else in my Vista U 64. However, searching for the folder and keys worked and finally I was able to erase them and install 2.11.
And I'm wondering too, why doesn't somebody post the resolution? Is it a secret only available to the APC users that register?
