im having the same problems as previous users. i just installed powerchute personal 2.0 i think from a cd that came with my battery backup, and now that ive downloaded the vista version, i cannot uninstall the old one.

pretty much the same problem as the guy from this thread: Referenced content removed

if someone could email me or post exact instructions on how to uninstall this powerchute version from vista i would really appreciate it. thanks!

Hello,
I recently purchased a smartUPS 1500 machine for our server. Previously, we had an older APC unit that was running powerchute personal version 1.5 on it. The server is brand new and is running Server2008 business edition. Problem is I can't (for the life of me) uninstall the personal edition powerchute. could you please forward instruction on how to do this?

I tried installing the powerchute business edition on this machine and that isn't working, I'm assuming its because I have to uninstall the personal edition first??

there are no manual uninstall instructions on mac. the downloaded image should include an uninstall script to remove it on a mac. you can redownload the install file from the APC website and run it or open the script to find what it deletes.

let me know if you cant find the script or cant download it again and ill see if i can get it and post it here.

Same problem. XP machine had old version (1.31) of APC PowerChute Personal Edition. Can't uninstall or upgrade it to v2.00. It fails every time, "there is not enough disk space". How can I manually uninstall it?

We don't support Windows 7 for any form of PowerChute Personal yet, in terms of installation or technical guidance. Feel free to try the above suggestions I posted in terms of registry and file deletions, reboot your computer, and try using a free registry cleaner tool such as CCleaner.

I too seem to have fallen victim to Powerchute 2.0 on Vista. I probably should have looked at the CD or something and noticed it didn't say Vista compatible on it, but it installed without a hitch. However, after waking up from a sleep state, my comp started blue-screening, so my first thought was to uninstall in safe mode, which didn't really work, so I followed with system restore, which seemed much more effective. That got rid of part of it, but I can't uninstall or reinstall over the software now, and whenever the system wakes from slumber, it has all kinds of weird issues (monitor might not come on, system might just hang) which I can only attribute to Powerchute. I just want this software off my system. I bought the UPS to protect my system from surges and keep it online through power glitches. I'll gladly forget about the safe shutdown feature if it means I can stop this power insanity! Can I get a copy of those manual removal instructions please? I greatly appreciate the assistance!

That's my first visit on this forum. I also have trouble in uninstalling Powerchute Personal Edition V2.0 on Vista. The Swiss Service Center has not been able to provide the solution.
Could you e-mail me the registry entries to be modified/erased ?
