Serial Connection Trouble

I am using Tera Term terminal emulation software and cannot get the serial connection to work on a SURT8000 unit.

I carefully set the connection with the settings from the manual like 2400 baud...

I am using the serial cable that was provided with the unit. 

What terminal software do you  recommend?

Will any serial cable work or does APC have unique cable?

Hyperterminal has worked for me.  You must use an "approved" cable that has some pins switched!  You might try 9600 baud - or others if it's possible someone has set it at a "custom" rate.
