Hello,
whats the technological difference between these units? SUM3000RMXL2U vs. SUA3000RMI2U
Does the SUM model have:
- better cooling?
- better efficiency running on battery?
- different technology? If yes, witch one? Not the big transformers anymore?
Thank you. Cheers!

Having owned a SUM1500 (very similar to SUM3000) and both SUA RM (rack mounted) and SUA XL(extended run) models, the major obvious differences;
SUM models have both a removable battery cage AND a removable electronics cage - maybe for quick in-line replacement without any service disconnection for super secure backups?
SUM models have a great power factor of almost unity - they provide substantially more wattage for the same model (Volt Amp) rating.
SUM and SUA RM models use the same battery cage
SUM models (like the SUA XL models) have Anderson connections on the back panel to add extended run battery cages.
My guess is that the SUM and SUA models have similar electronics (large multi-tapped transformers) for selection of various voltages. I believe the "transformerless" design started with the SMX line of smart UPSs. Note the the SMT line has the multi-tapped transformers also, however has the LCD controller (rather than LEDs) as do the SMX lines.
More specifics would need to come from APC/Schneider.

SUM3000RMXL2U by he looks of it can take external battery packs and can be rack or tower mounted. The other just looks to be a rack mount.
