Is there a way to disable the call for heat function on the smart TRVs? I am running the system with a heat pump and don't want it firing up too often.
The original firmware if these devices when I purchased them couldn't call for heat and they acted as a temperature limiter in the room, then at some point there was an update which meant the radiator TRVs were calling for heat from boiler.

I don't understand the logic, if you don't want it to call for heat then turn it down or replace it with a manual TRV head, but then the call for heat will be governed by other smart controsl in the system. Am I missing something?

Interesting bit of history, I wasn't aware of...

The data returned from the API, shows that not only do 'Rooms' have a Setpoint, but so do Roomstats & iTrvs (the latter are presumably just cloned from the schedule for the associated room).
I wonder what happens, if you remove the iTrv from its Room?
It may retain its last Setpoint and operate its motor appropriately - but when it reports back to the Hubᴿ (to call for Heat), the Hubᴿ would not be able to activate the associated channel (because a channel is associated with a room, not a device).
You'd have to experiment with that - I don't want to disturb my system 🙂

I suppose an iTrv that doesn't call for heat, is the equivalent of a conventional TRV that can be remotely adjusted.

I think every thermostat, including a radiator one, has to be allocated to a room?
