As mentioned in the PM8000 User guide, this is an overrange indication. If any value measured by the meter is too large to fit on the display, the meter initially reduces the size of the text to try and make the value fit.
If the value is still too large to be displayed, the meter truncates the value starting with the least significant digit and encloses the truncated value in a red box.
