Hello,
I am currently working on a project involving the ION 8650 meter, and I am seeking guidance on reading Revenue Log data using Modbus. Specifically, I am referring to the documentation in Appendix B of the document titled "70022-0124-01_Modbus.pdf."
In my exploration, I have come across references to the Data Recorder module, and I would like to inquire about the following:
Data Recorder Module Number:
Security Considerations - Write Part of Selection Block:
Any insights, tips, or guidance on the Modbus implementation for the ION 8650, especially related to the Revenue Log, would be highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
Best regards,

Hello @felipevallejo ,
You can use a program called ION Setup to connect to an ION meter. If you use the advanced configuration mode you can see all the managers the meter supports (data recorders, integrators etc.) as well as all the data recorder modules. You can even see the specific configuration of each module including, inputs and setup registers.
As for security, There is nothing special about the modbus reads/writes that I know of. I recommend writing to 43001 first to make sure you are reading/writing the correct data recorder information.
Regards,
Charles
