Question about Accusine PCS+ installation

Hi All,

One question about Accusine PCS+ installation. Below is the suggested power cable connection in the user manual.

Picture1.png

Is it possible to merge the power cables of 2 units first, and then connect to the busbar with only 1 set of cables? If not, what are the reasons? Thanks

I don't think, it is a concern and I believe, it is possible. But please be more caution, while terminating the cables to the Power Terminals.

One more important think that need to be followed, When used as a harmonic current compensation device, the active filter produces currents at frequencies that are multiples of the AC line fundamental frequency. Power cables as well as input disconnect devices should be rated at 125% of the active filter rated current. This helps avoid excessive heating from any skin effect resistance increase at these higher frequencies.

Here the cable that will be used to merger both the PCS+ can be at 125%,(As mentioned in our installation manual) but the cable from unit-1 to the bus bar should be double the times of the given rating. (Ex:- it should be planned to sustain 250% ).

Next regarding the Input breaker:

A dedicated over-current protection device, circuit breaker, or fuse disconnect is required for this product. The over-current protection device must be rated for at least 125% of the unit rating.

The active filter inrush current does not exceed the unit rating shown in the following table. Circuit breaker settings such as Long Time Pickup, Long Time Delay, and Short Time Pickup can be set for minimum inrush current.

Since you will be using single breaker to control both the PCS+, selection size of the breaker need to be double the times from  the mention value. Refer the Over current  Protection  Device selection table in the Accusine  installation manual.

NOTE: Check national and local codes and regulations to ensure compliance.

Hope it helps, for any question feel free to get back to us.

Question : Is it possible to merge the power cables of 2 units first, and then connect to the busbar with only 1 set of cables?

Answer : Yes it is possible. Refer to the attached drawing. You can use a 800A Feeder Breaker to feed to 2 x 300A Units.

NOTES :

  • Each 300A unit, has an option of a Top & Bottom entry. In addition, the Bus Bar is rated to 800A. So as shown in the attached drawing, connect to the first unit and then feed off from the first unit to the second unit.
  • Please review the local utility regulations.

Hello,

The CT's rating could be either source rating based or load feeder rating based.

If the Incomer CT is 3000/5 A, then you need to consider 2 x 3000A CT's.

If the feeder current is say : 1200A, then you need to consider 2 x 1200 A CT's.

You can send me a mail at Sreemant.roy@se.com
