Hello community,
A few days ago an attempt was made to install the new version of the PM5560 meter firmware, which, observing the documentation, new versions must be done with an application and not with FTP as was done before.
When using this application it starts with the update, but at a certain percentage of update it gives me an error and stops updating.
When checking the meter we saw that it gave an error, where first the two lights on the back where the Ethernet is connected came on, but they remained fixed, as seen in the image:
Then we saw that it was no longer communicating, where when checking the IP parameters the following came out:
Which when trying to change the IP is not saved and returns to how it is in the image.
We don't know what may be happening and I need your help to determine what we can do.
Greetings

Hi @Ricardo_RM
Can you connect with the local technical support and replace this meter if the IP address is not stored even after the power cycle?

Hello @Ricardo_RM ,
I do not know the PM5000 series of meters so I cannot speak to this directly. My recommendation would be to reach out to your local technical support ideally with them being able to remotely connect to computer that is connected directly to the meter.
Regards,
Charles

Hi @Ricardo_RM
Was there any power or communication during this firmware upgrade process?
This seems to be the communication card got corrupted and there is no option to recover the meter.
You can replace this meter.

Hello @Ramasamy_N
Thanks for the reply.
When you mention if there was any power supply or communication during this firmware update process, do you mean if they are connected receiving current and voltage values?
Because the first attempt was made to update if it was connected with those values, but then it was done with a meter that had nothing connected and we were still having this problem.
Greetings.

Hi @Ricardo_RM ,
Have you tried power cycling the device to see if you can save the IP parameters afterward?

Hello @Jesus_Diaz ,
Correct, I have tried changing the IP and all the fields, I turn it off and on again and it continues with the parameters of 255.255.255.255 and everything as seen in the images.
Greetings.

Hi, I had the same problem when trying to update two PM5560 meters. Were you able to solve it? Thanks

Hi @hector_corvalan,
From which version did you try to update, and to which version? Which method did you use? Can you try a direct connection to the PC using the stored IP and check if the meter can communicate?

Hello Jesus_Diaz,
Thank you for your response. The firmware version of the three meters that failed is 02.7.8, and I tried to migrate them to version 4.2.1 using the PM5000fwupgrade software, which includes the same firmware. All attempts were made with a direct connection to the meters, and at 130% of the update, it fails, and the meters' two Ethernet ports remain blocked with the lights on. In the meters' display settings, all parameters are set to 255.255.255.255, and the MAC address is FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF. The PC no longer connects to the devices, as if no device were connected.

Hi @hector_corvalan,
In this case, I suggest reaching out to your local support office. They can guide you through the next steps.
