Our core business is electrical contracting. We have engineering teams that assist customers with power problems. Some rent Fluke or Dranetz devices for this purpose. It would be nice if we could use PowerLogic meters for this and then we can sell them the meters and do the installation. That was the idea behind the portable CM4000T. It does appear that the PM8000 with PME would be as good as many Fluke / Dranetz units on the market today. With waveform capture, THD, fault direction detection it is a powerful little meter.
Looking for the opinions of others in the market.

Dranetz is our long time competitor here in Thailand. But some customer is using both meters and data logging software from us but the PQ analysis software from Dranetz (PQ View) which can read directly the PQ data logs from ION Enterprise/PME database.

We have some customers that use the ION7650 in a portable enclosure. The advantage is they already use ION meters for other applications. You could look into using the NICT / Current Probe input option (only on ION7550 & ION7650). We have one customer that uses a Rogowski coil with a modulated output that works well with this input option and is safer than the standard 5A CTs required for all of our other meters. Most other customers use the 5A CT.

Eric
I like the safety of Rowgowski coil but do not know how to adapt them for 0-5 amp input meeting.
Thanks

Michael,
You will need to use the ION7550/7650 meter with the "current probe" option. This is a mV (0-1V) input.
It is possible to purchase the FlexCore Rowgowski coil with a 0-1V output.
Or go with option option "F" or "G" in the ION7550/7650 meter part for current inputs.
Hope this helps.

Eric:
See that WAGO makes Rowgowski coils and transducers
that convert them to a 0-5 Amp output.
Please see attached and advise.

Before using the Voltage probe please study well sometime you have to do experiment about it because there is phase shift angle in which you have to set the phase shift angle inside meters otherwise you will get garbage result. There are pros and cons in using this kind of CT.
We had installed almost three hundred units of the ION7xx0 using the voltage probe rated 10A/1V range 10mA to 10A for many years there are some case that the CT got saturated because the secondary current go up higher than 10A.
