PM8243 V4.6.0 Upgrade Error

Hi,
Thanks in advance for your help. I tried updating the PM8244 firmware from v4.5.0 to v4.6.0 using ION Setup. The ZIP file includes three templates—I selected the standard one for this model. However, I received an error: Problem programming RMP Framework.

Could you please confirm if the attached firmware files are the latest for this meter?

Hello @ABDUL8 ,

Yes V4.6.0 is the latest version of meter firmware and template. Note that a V4.6.0 template cannot be pasted on a V4.5.0 meter. Based on screenshots you will need to upgrade your meter's firmware to V4.6.0 before applying the template.

Regards,

Charles

Hi @ABDUL8

Yes, the firmware package is correct and includes all components for firmware version V4.6.

PM8243 is a DIN rail-mounted meter with Standard feature set and no display. However based on meter's Serial Number (ME-2502D871-03), it should be PM8244 which is the same as PM8243 but packaged with Remote Display:

As for 'Problem programming RMP framework’, please note that there are two different methods for loading the firmware onto a meter:

Rapid Meter Programming (RMP) – a faster method
Non-RMP

To disable RMP, hold down the ALT key before sending the file to the meter. During the upgrade process, press and hold the ALT key while clicking the Upgrade button. This will disable upgrade throttling/API version, preventing interruptions during template uploading.

Best Regards,

-Mehran
